Celebrate the Celebrant with Sonal Dave

The Celebrant Directory has grown to be a hub for those seeking a unique and personal celebration and now has a thriving community for over 500 celebrants from across the globe and we want to celebrate the wonderful work our celebrants do!

We had the pleasure of chatting with Sonal, a Celebrant for all Life Events, she’s just awesome and has a very special niche.

So Sonal, we can’t wait to get to know you.

Where Are You Based?

I’m in London.

What are your fav ceremonies?

I’m a celebrant for all Life Events. I specialise in life events with an Asian element and multicultural weddings.

What is your ceremony style?

My ceremony style is inclusive, friendly and engaging.

Who is your typical couple?

A multicultural, multifaith couple

What are you most proud of so far?

That I have been able to build a strong positive reputation that has allowed couples and families to have the ceremonies they want and not the expectations of others. One example is a destination wedding in Courchevel in France in a forest by a ski resort. The bride is from Kuwait and the bridegroom is from Italy. A dream multicultural wedding.

What is your favourite ceremony that you have performed?

One example is a destination wedding in Courchevel in France in a forest by a ski resort. The bride is from Kuwait and the bridegroom is from Italy. A dream multicultural wedding.

What is your favourite venue or kind of venue and why?

I don’t think I have a favourite venue.  Each one has its own uniqueness but I am always happy when there are no stairs to climb or long walks. I have a beach wedding coming up in Chennai, an outdoor wedding on a farm, a couple of luxury London hotels, a couple in stately homes and one in portugal. So from fields to hotels, back gardens, stately homes and destination weddings.  They are all favourites.

What are the best things about being a celebrant?

The best thing I love about being a Celebrant is that I get to do what I love. I am with people, communicating, creating, making lifelong memories, delivering different unique ceremonies giving couples and families a choice. I also get to visit beautiful venues in the uk and abroad.

What is your favourite reading for:

Wedding: The Lovely Dinosaur by Edward Monkton

Naming Ceremony: From a Poem for every day of the year – On children from The Prophet’ by Kahlil Gibran

Funeral: Farewell My Friends Poem by Rabindranath Tagore

What is your advice to couples planning a Celebrant-led wedding/funeral/baby-naming event?

Ask about insurance and any accreditations/associations

Ask about pricing and any extras

Start the conversation being open, honest and transparent and that will help the process and save time

Finally, Be clear on what you would like to include. If you are not sure, ask for suggestions, but the final choice should be yours. Think about what you definitely do not want as much as what you do.

What is your essential element to add to a Celebrant-led wedding/funeral/baby-naming event?

I always use a PA system so that both I and anyone involved who is saying something can be heard. I also suggest Live music as this creates a beautiful and reflective atmosphere for the ceremony.
