A Christmas wedding ceremony

Once you have found your perfect Celebrant you will find that having a Christmas wedding ceremony brings opportunities to be extra creative.

Choose a romantic Christmas song to walk into. Your guests will love to sing a festive song or upbeat Christmas Carol.

Symbolic elements such as a candle to remember lost loved ones or Unity Candles are perfect for Christmas and cast a romantic glow during your ceremony.

Involve your guests, ask someone to read a Christmas wedding reading or a poem, you might even choose lyrics from your favourite Christmas song or words from a Christmas movie.

Your love story, vows and ceremony can be sprinkled with festive references. In the image below, Helen and Kim ended their ceremony by kissing under the mistletoe and an upbeat Christmas song to really get the party going.

Save the festive date!

If you are having your ceremony on the run up to Christmas, your wedding date will become an exciting part of the Christmas countdown.

If your ceremony is between Christmas and New Year, everybody will be energised and in the party mood and what better way to share your Christmas wedding than with the people who mean the most to you.

Either way your guests will be into the Christmas spirit, relaxed and looking forward to sharing every magical moment with you.

Remember that booking during the quieter times is cost effective and can bring big savings, so talk to your venue and suppliers before definitely saving the festive date.

Styling a Christmas wedding

Think crisp and frosty winter days and warm cosy evenings. There is a wonderful variety of Christmas themed weddings with rich deep reds, cool blues and silvers, golds and greens.

For textures think warm velvets, snuggly faux fur or feather wraps and tweed jackets.

Bouquets and buttonholes of velvety roses and pinecones, pine and berries, fragrant herbs.

Dare to be different by wearing something gorgeous in sumptuous winter colours and fabrics.

Dress your wedding space with aromatic foliage and herbs, winter fruits and spices, just imagine your wedding photos, full of sparkle and rich vibrant colours, what’s not to love…

Provide snuggly blankets and throws for guests to keep warm if they wander outside. Hot chocolate and mulled wine always go down well and maybe think about serving something a little bit different on your wedding menu, nourishing winter warmers and hearty snacks that are a bit different to the traditional Christmas fayre that your guests will have already been eating for days.

Weddings with Christmas sparkle

If you book your wedding at Christmas, your venue will already be decorated! Winner!

Why not continue their festive theme with fairy lights and candles and it makes life so much easier when planning your table decorations and favours.
You could combine the two by having Christmas cracker favours with place names or pinecone place cards.

Ask people to sign or write a wish on a bauble and hang it on the Christmas tree as a reminder for years to come. Alternatively, give guests a personalised bauble as a keepsake of your special day – get creative and make your own!

New Year’s Eve weddings

New Year’s Eve weddings are a time to celebrate the completion of your old life and the beginning of a new life, the closing of one circle and the opening of another as you step into the coming year joined as one.

In the image above, Lucy and Eleanor, along with their mothers lit Unity Candles to show the world they are indeed joined as one family and united as a couple. Their venue was already dressed for the festive period and their favourite people were all together, starting as they meant to go on, with love in their hearts and hopes for the year that was about to unfold for them.

Whenever you choose to celebrate your wedding, congratulations!
