Hi, I'm Catriona
*Legally-binding and symbolic ceremonies across Donegal, Northern Ireland and the surrounding counties, and further afield.
Every couple, every family and individual I work with has their own unique story, and for me it’s an honour to help tell that story in a way that feels authentic and memorable.
I’m Catriona Doherty, a celebrant and solmeniser from the gorgeous Inishowen Peninsula in County Donegal with a love for words and storytelling.
I create and deliver one-of-a-kind ceremonies, from personalised weddings to baby naming ceremonies, vow renewals and elopements. I bring my background in writing and my passion for people to every script I create.
I’m a proud Donegal woman and I’m passionate about helping couples based in America and other destinations, to plan their elopement to Ireland, particularly to my homeplace, Inishowen.
When I’m not working on ceremonies, I’m busy being mammy to my two little girls who make sure there’s never a dull moment.
What's my ceremony style?
Long before I stood at the top of an aisle or on a clifftop with a ceremony script in hand, I was a journalist and magazine editor.
For over 12 years, I told other people’s stories through headlines and features, but something kept pulling me toward a different kind of storytelling — one that celebrates true love and new life, and holds space for everything in between.

An unforgettable moment during an Irish elopement
We stood on Fanad Head cliffside when a gust of wind blew the vow cards away. The groom ran to retrieve them, and before the gusts took them again he stamped on the card leaving a big mucky footprint on it. It was such a funny moment and the couple have an unique memento of their wedding day.

From an intimate woodland ceremony for four, to a lively Donegal hotel wedding with 180 guests, to a castle celebration in Meath and a clifftop elopement at Dunluce – I’ve had the privilege of creating and leading ceremonies in a wide range of settings.
I don’t have one favourite type of ceremony, as I genuinely love the variety this role offers. As a professionally trained and experienced celebrant and registered solemniser, I guide you through the entire process with care, creativity, and attention to detail. I’ll make sure everything runs smoothly.

I like to work with families who seek a meaningful and personalised farewell for their loved ones—whether that’s a traditional funeral, a more intimate memorial, or a special ashes scattering ceremony.
