I am a skilful wordsmith, an accomplished public speaker and a genuine people-person.
I promise to get to know you with an open heart and an open mind, inspired by what you tell me to craft a celebration reflecting your personalities, personal beliefs and values.
For me, officiating at the most important events in your life is a vocation and a total privilege.

What's my ceremony style?
I have a way of getting to know you that connects with the quirky little things that make you who you are.
Many of my couples and families keep in touch after their ceremony as a real friendship develops between us.

What do I offer?

Weddings
Hey there, I am Debbie Skyrme and I have lived full time in Spain for 15 years officiating wedding and elopement ceremonies in some of the most stunning locations in southern Spain.
I have a wealth of contacts and a deep passion for all things Spanish. I can help you create your perfect wedding ceremony barefoot on the beach, in a Moorish castle, high on the cliffs overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean, at a romantic villa set in olive groves, at a luxury hotel, at an historic palace or wherever your imagination takes you under the warm Spanish sunshine.
I really look forward to getting to know you and sharing my knowledge and experience to create your perfect wedding day
I offer a choice of two main types of wedding ceremony.
My traditional ceremony is based on my experience as a registrar to include many of the familiar words and phrases you are accustomed to hearing plus your own personal vows, readings, ring exchange ceremony and signing of a commemorative certificate with/without witnesses.
€495 inc IVA
My bespoke ceremony includes as many elements of the traditional ceremony as you like plus your own love story told in a way that every word resonates with you and whatever additional rituals and customs you feel will make your day truly meaningful.
€695 inc IVA
Both ceremonies can be in a mix of Spanish and English.
I travel for free within the provinces of Malaga and Granada – outside of these areas, travel (and budget accommodation if needed) is charged at cost

Naming Ceremonies
Well to be honest, child naming ceremonies are a natural extension of officiating weddings and elopements!
Here in Spain we have a predominantly religious approach to baby naming, so I love offering a humanist-style, meaningful alternative ceremony to my couples as their families grow.
We can include promises by guide parents, fun elements, songs, rituals, readings, the story behind your choice of name… there are so many wonderful ways to create a personal ceremony to introduce your special little person to your family and friends.
Nowadays a child naming ceremony does not have to follow one faith or belief system, it can be non-religious or multicultural – and fun!
Babies, older children, fostered children, adopted children and those from different marriages can all be formally welcomed into the family unit with a specially created naming ceremony.
Presenting a young life to the community by name, gives that person a unique identity which can be celebrated in many different ways.
It is my privilege to get to know your family and craft a ceremony that perfectly matches your hopes and expectations of a meaningful welcoming ceremony.

Renewal of Vows
Couples choose to renew their vows for many different reasons.
- Perhaps you have a milestone wedding anniversary coming up – now you can celebrate.
- Perhaps you never had the wedding ceremony you dreamed of – now is your chance to realise your dream.
- Perhaps you are not the same people you were when you first married – now you can say new, meaningful vows to each other.
- Perhaps you have been through a rocky patch together – now you can reaffirm your love and commitment.
Whatever your reasons for wanting a wedding blessing, I will craft a bespoke ceremony for you whether it is private and away from the gaze of others, or a full-blown party incorporating family and friends, this is YOUR TIME

Funerals
ADVICE ONLY
The burial or cremation process happens very quickly in Spain, usually within 48 hours of death.
You do NOT have to hold a funeral or celebration of life at that time.
For mourners coming from overseas, it can be impractical .
For the bereaved the process can feel like it is too soon
For this reason, I suggest that you speak to the insurer paying for the service and ask that the amount allocated to pay for a minister be held over and allocated to an independent celebrant at a later date.
Then contact one of my funeral celebrant colleagues to assist you with your funeral plans.

INFORMATION ONLY:
Here in Spain we can write a “living will” to record our wishes regarding advance life-care and organ donation called the REGISTRO DE VOLUNTADES VITALES ANTICIPADAS (VVA)
The VVA must be completed in Spanish, but if you scroll down you will find a guide in English.
For current information about death and dying abroad, download the British Consul Spain Bereavement Pack

Debbie, has a very, very special place in our hearts
Our ELOPEMENT celebrant and coordinator, Debbie, has a very, very special place in our hearts. She has such a warm presence that makes her feel like family away from home. Her expertise and years of experience in the industry played the most critical role in making our day feel tailor-made for us. She helped us to pinpoint exactly the words we wanted to share in our ceremony, and she provided so many excellent options for traditions to involve our parents in the ceremony as well. Her professionalism made the day run smoothly, and coupled with her empathy and compassion, she ensured that the day felt like our day. In the bustle of wedding day jitters and getting ready, she was the calm and the reason that everyone needed. She also captured the most lovely “behind the scenes” photos and videos, which we were able to share with loved ones while waiting for photos. She left no detail unturned.

Debbie runs her service to a very high standard
Debbie runs her service to a very high standard – she is excellent!
When we first met Debbie, months and months before our wedding day, we wanted to create our ceremony and write our vows there and then! Her positive energy and enthusiasm are infectious. That said, Debbie guided us throughout – giving us timelines (of when to write our vows!), direction and she created an easy two-way feedback channel. We were sent a helpful questionnaire which Debbie suggested we do it as a ‘date night’ – highly recommend! This helped us to create our vision for the ceremony, as well as write our vows.
When you get married lots of things come all at once right at the end, but the ceremony and our vows were not one of them – thanks to Debbie’s organizational skills and her calm manner, everything felt under control before and during our special day. Thank you heaps, Debbie!!

Sparks flew during our ceremony with you
Dear Debbie, we are still enjoying our pink cloud… We want to thank you for your amazing job. Thanks to you it was a heartfelt, beautiful ceremony: we laughed, we cried (a lot – but by request :)) and we felt the love of our family and friends. You helped us in curating a very personal, special ceremony. Not only by using the right words, but also with your ideas for a suiting ritual. During the ceremony you were in touch with the audience, noticed when we needed a moment and gosh, what a great sense for timing on do you have. Just so you know, we got so many compliments about you! We are thankful and happy we could trust you with our most intimate part of the day. You are a wonderful human being, very talented in what you do and you helped making it an unforgettable day. We’ll always remember you being part of it and sharing in our joy. Love, M&J
