Hi, I'm Karen
I am Karen Hopwood, a Professional Celebrant trained by the ICPC. I set up Coast Ceremonies to provide a service for you. I am used to public speaking and I take great pride in doing a good job. I feel so honoured to be able to write about YOU. I write and officiate at wedding celebration ceremonies, baby naming ceremonies, boat naming or re-naming ceremonies, building dedications and blessings, vow renewal ceremonies and funeral ceremonies. I am willing to conduct destination weddings (prices on request) if that is your wish.
What's my ceremony style?
I like a little bit of humour – it’s a great tension-breaker. I am part of the sailing community here in Lymington and that is reflected in some of my work, namely boat naming and re-naming ceremonies and wedding blessings on board boats. I have also done a scattering of ashes at sea.

I’m Karen and I really care about getting your ceremony right. I will listen carefully to what you want and then write your ceremony for you from beginning to end. I started Coast Ceremonies so that I could do just that. I love people and that reflects in everything I do. I am used to speaking in public and I take great care to get things right. Everything I do is about love, whether that is a wedding, a baby naming, a vow renewal or a funeral. I feel really privileged to be able to write about you and your love story.
What do I offer?
Weddings
My ideal couple would be a couple who want a relaxed wedding in a rural location/garden/sailing club/”camping/glamping”. They might like to have something a little bit different that will include things that reflect their personalities and interests. This could be a themed wedding or a boho style wedding.
Basic wedding package: Help writing their vows and conducting the ceremony. A very personal wedding ceremony would be created in consultation with both parties individually and together.
Enhanced wedding package: Help writing vows and conducting the ceremony but also includes a mini-ceremony such as hand fasting, jumping the broom, sand ceremony etc. Again, a very personal wedding ceremony created in consultation with both parties individually and together.
If the couple want me to attend the rehearsal there is a separate charge for that.

My Mother’s Funeral
After getting in touch with Karen after a recommendation by a friend she proceeded to gave an attentive, sensitive and prompt service to all our questions and queries. Her suggestions were helpful and made our decisions easier to make at a difficult and emotional time.
Karen gave a wonderful service on the day with feeling and compassion also managing to incorporate a late addition to the eulogy, which was very much appreciated.
I have no hesitation recommending Karen for any service requiring a celebrant.
Mothers Funeral
Karen was recommended to us by a friend and we could not have been happier with our choice.
She visited our home to gather information about mum and the family, to put together an order of service. Her suggestions for the service were invaluable and helped us greatly through the process of putting together a Eulogy. She showed great care and compassion and sent a number of drafts, which we could amend until we were happy with the contents of the service. On the morning of the cremation we wanted to add to the Eulogy, we rang Karen and she could not have been more accommodating, changing some wording with only hours notice. Karen conducted the service in just the right tone and a number of people commented on what a lovely service it had been.
