Hello, I’m Onie…I offer beautiful, relaxed, inclusive ceremonies for Weddings, Renewal of Vows, Baby Namings, Funerals, or any event significant to you and your family. I believe in creating ceremonies that are centred around the wishes and values of the family involved. This enables you to create a personal, unique ceremony with you, your personalities, your stories at the heart. A ceremony that reflects your own beliefs, whether that incorporates religious and spiritual beliefs or entirely non-religious/secular ethos. An Agnostic Scotland ceremony is inclusive and open-minded. Ceremonies can be funny-sweet, deeply meaningful, make-you-weep-while-you-laugh hilarious, heart-achingly poignant, timeless and grand, sincere and serious, gentle and thoughtful. They can be traditional, unconventional, grand, or intimate. Every element of your ceremony is your choice. I am based in the Scottish Highlands and love to travel to offer ceremonies further afield. Through Agnostic Scotland, I can conduct legal Wedding Ceremonies. All locations are covered from grand hotels to mountain tops. All love is celebrated!
What's my ceremony style?
I’m pretty relaxed in most settings and love meeting new people. Clients describe me as calm, thoughtful, warm, grounded, joyful, sincere, friendly, insightful and light-hearted.
In addition to being a celebrant, I am co-director of a therapies clinic in Edinburgh. For 20 years, I worked with families, supporting individuals through major life transitions. Over the years, friends and clients invited me to be celebrant at their life events – it is through these requests that I chose to become a life celebrant. I’ve been a celebrant since 2012, and absolutely love it.
Wherever and whatever you choose, it is my great delight to help you lovingly craft a ceremony that is everything you wished it to be.

Why choose Onie?
I really invest in the couples I work with and take the time to get to know you. I pour my heart into every ceremony I create to ensure each one is exactly as you wish it to be. Over a period of weeks or months, I collaborate with you to write a completely unique, personal ceremony for you.
For every couple, I plant a tree as part of a Scottish rewilding project. A percentage of my fee goes towards our community fund. I also provide vow scrolls, beautiful certificates and oathing stones, should you wish to include those in your ceremony.
I only hold one ceremony per day and am happy to adapt my service to your needs and wishes whether you choose to have your ceremony in one location, along a hike, or among two different locations on that day – perhaps an intimate gathering for your legal vows then a wider ceremony with friends.

Hello, I’m Onie…I am a Marriage Celebrant offering beautiful, relaxed, inclusive Marriage ceremonies, Vow Renewals and Commitment ceremonies in the Scottish Highlands and other areas. All love is celebrated and all locations are welcome; from grand hotels to mountain tops.
I believe in creating ceremonies that are centred around the wishes and values of the family involved. This enables you to create a unique ceremony with your story at the heart, one that reflects your own beliefs, whether that incorporates religious and spiritual beliefs or non-religious/secular ethos.
An Agnostic Scotland ceremony is inclusive and open-minded. I really invest in the families I work with and take the time to get to know you. My wish is always to create a distinctly unique and beautiful ceremony for you that is all you had wished it to be.
Through Agnostic Scotland, I can conduct legal Wedding Ceremonies.
Your Wedding Ceremony will celebrate you as a couple. From the telling of your story to the exchange of vows, from the inclusion of rituals to the declaration of commitment, your ceremony will joyfully reflect your own unique personalities and your journey so far.
You might wish to get married on a mountain, or in a woodland under the stars, or in an historic castle, or in your own garden.Wherever you choose, you can make your ceremony your own.

I love to travel and am pretty outdoorsy. I’m comfortable conducting ceremonies in all kinds of locations – mountains, hotels, gardens, beaches.
I really invest in the couples I work with and take the time to get to know you. Over a period of several weeks or months, I co-collaborate with you and write a unique ceremony for you, then create a ‘secret’ version based on ‘snippets’ you have individually shared with me. I pour my heart into every ceremony so it is exactly as you wish it to be.
I plant a tree for every couple, provide vow scrolls, oathings stones and other ‘props’ if you wish to include them in your ceremony. 5% of my fee goes towards our community fund.
Naming Ceremonies
Naming and Family Ceremonies are pure joy… reflecting the character of the small but mighty people involved. Planning a ceremony to honour the arrival of your baby, or to celebrate the completion of your family, is such a personal and individual process.
Together, I can work with you to create a beautiful ceremony that reflects your own unique blend of beliefs, values and wishes. One that adopts the tone you are seeking, and includes the symbolic elements or rituals that make sense to you and your family.
It is my role to help you lovingly craft a ceremony that makes your family smile and will leave you with a warm and heart-bolstering feeling inside. Agnostic Scotland has a Community Fund to help provide affordable ceremonies for all. If you feel you need support paying for your ceremony, please let me know.
There are endless possibilities when it comes to planning a Naming, Welcome-to-the-World or Family Celebration. You might be looking for a traditional Naming Ceremony with readings, a declaration of the names being given, promises from the parents, and Guide- or God-parents. You may wish to include elements of religion such as prayers or blessings, or create an entirely non-religious ceremony.
You might be seeking a ceremony that is heart-centred and holistic.
You might be wanting a light, fun ceremony that is full of child-focussed joy.

I create beautiful bespoke keepsake ceremony cards, vow scrolls and symbolic elements for you.
I plant a tree for every family, as well as vow scrolls, beautiful certificates and oathing stones should you wish to include them. 5% of my fee goes towards our community fund.

Funerals
A lovingly crafted ceremony to help you recall and celebrate memories of time spent with your loved one. Finding the right words to honour a friend or relative who has recently died can be so hard. At a time when you have suddenly lost an important person in your life, there is nothing anyone can do or say to take the pain away.
For families experiencing such loss, planning the funeral can feel like a momentous challenge, and just one more trial to get through. If you would like me to help you to plan, write and deliver a life celebration ceremony for your loved one, then it would be my honour and privilege to work with you, and to help ease that process for you.
I do not charge for my time for funerals of individuals under 16 years of age.
The ceremony for your loved one would be exactly as you wish it to be. An Agnostic Scotland ceremony is one that is inclusive, open-minded and non-judgemental.
It is possible to entirely reflect in your loved ones ceremony their own unique blend of beliefs and values. All words, music, symbolic elements and rituals are entirely your choice.
I do my very best to ensure that the ceremony we create gives you the opportunity to say everything you wish to say and do everything you wish to do in order to truly pay tribute to and honour your loved one.
At Agnostic Scotland, we have a Community Fund in order to ensure that all families have access to affordable ceremonies. If you feel you need support in paying for your loved one’s ceremony, please let me know.

The most beautiful wedding ceremony
We can’t thank Onie enough for giving us the most beautiful wedding ceremony. From the beginning all the way through to the wedding day, the way in which Onie collected ‘our story’ and then told this at our wedding was so special. We had so many guests from our wedding tell us that it was the best ceremony that they had ever been to and just how personal and unique it was. We were initially unsure as to where to begin with writing a ceremony but Onie made this so easy for us, we gave her the information and she turned it into more than we could have asked for.

Lochside wedding
Onie was the celebrant at our wedding in October, and she was fantastic from start to finish. We were organising the wedding from Australia and she was incredibly accommodating for this, including arranging meetings to work with the time difference! She has an amazing talent for getting to know people quickly, and she understood us and our story even after just the first conversation.
Neither of us are particularly comfortable speaking about our feelings in front of people, and we didn’t want a traditional wedding ceremony, so we were nervous about how to make the day feel like us. Onie put us completely at ease and helped us work out what we wanted from the day and how best to do it, and in the end we had the perfect celebration.
We had a small intimate family ceremony followed by a blessing and drinking from the quaich in front of all the guests, and Onie wrote two beautiful and different pieces for them. The first was heartfelt and moving and the second was humerous and touching, and both fitted us perfectly. She captured not just our story but how we felt about each other and our families and friends and her words made the day what it was.
Everyone loved the ceremonies and we had so many comments on how fantastic and enjoyable they were. Our wedding wouldn’t have been the same without Onie and we are so grateful to her for being part of it.

She met us multiple times before our big day and this allowed us to get to know her while also giving us confidence in her style as a celebrant.
