Hi, I'm Marie
“I really can’t recommend Marie strongly enough. She really did weave together such beautiful memories into a rich tapestry of remembrance, studded with humour and points of reflection. She is professional, with such a wonderful talent.”
I care deeply about helping people to create heartfelt and unique farewells. Many people are not aware of how much choice and freedom they have in creating a fitting funeral service – I can help you explore what aspects are important to you, and to create a flow to the service so that everything that needs to be said and done is accomplished.
Families I have served describe me as warm, calm, supportive, empowering, sincere and helpful.
I am a professionally qualified funeral celebrant, with over 20 years’ experience of creating and facilitating rites of passage, and leading ceremonies from the heart. I decided to become a funeral celebrant after being asked by a terminally ill friend to lead her funeral service when the time came. I was honoured to work with her on this, and when the time came to take her service, I truly realised the importance of a good farewell gathering, and that I had found my calling.
What's my ceremony style?
I will work with you to create the most appropriate funeral ceremony for the person who has died. I will meet with you in the comfort of your own home – or another venue of your choice. I will work alongside you, listening to your memories of the person who has died, to help you create a funeral ceremony which weaves together everything needed to truly remember and honour them. An individual ceremony that will be both the celebration of a distinctive life and allow the mourning of a loss.
I respect all spiritual beliefs, and those with none. I will compose and conduct an appropriate, well-structured and imaginative ceremony with as much or as little spiritual or religious content as you wish. The person who has died will be the heart of the ceremony.
I will support you in carrying out as much of the service yourselves as you feel able to, and I will liaise with other professionals to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Why choose Marie?
I am grateful to all who have shared their feedback with me – you may see it here: http://www.weaving-memories.co.uk/testimonials/
I am gentle, empathic, flexible and open to a range of spiritual beliefs, and those with none. I am able to hold the ceremony space and support you in carrying out as much of the service as you would like to. I am experienced in more traditional funeral ceremonies, as well as the more informal and inventive. I can provide candles, drapes and other beautiful items to help decorate the ceremony space.
This feedback from an innovative Funeral Director may provide a richer picture:
Marie has a complete understanding of what we are trying help families to do. When we work with her we know we can trust her to take the time and effort required to create a meaningful and personal ceremony. Her commitment to her work goes beyond it just being a job. She deeply cares about the transformational nature of the funeral service, and the importance of engaging families in the creation of this.
She has a lovely, calming presence and excellent delivery. She brings with her more than just the words of a eulogy and a service. She has brought candles and other items which enhance the ceremony- her attention to detail is superb. She has a wider knowledge and understanding of death and its rituals that she brings with her to every funeral and this helps her to create ceremonies with depth and meaning. We can highly recommend her!” (A Natural Undertaking).

Truly captured his personality
I just wanted to say, as I didn’t get chance to yesterday, thank you for all of your hard work and wonderful service for N.If there is such thing as a nice funeral, that was it. You truly captured his personality and spirit and I know that we were all very moved. I also know that he would have appreciated it and laughed at some of the things you added in. Thank you so much again for your professionalism and the way in which you handled our family at such a difficult time. Kindest regards.
Very genuine comfort
I want to thank you once again for the excellent farewell service you gave for mum yesterday. It was everything we could have hoped for and I, personally, am feeling very calm and peaceful today knowing that I have said my goodbye. From our first meeting you gave both S and I the confidence that mum was in safe hands and you would look after her properly. Your guidance through the form the service could take was very helpful and the time spent listening to us and then checking and altering your eulogy in response to our comments was really appreciated. You made us feel special. After the service everybody commented on how beautifully you had conducted it and how sincere your words were. You have a very difficult job but I hope you feel fulfilled in the very genuine comfort you gave us, and I am sure many other families. We are very grateful.
