Hi, I'm George
I live in beautiful East Devon near the sea with my husband of over a decade, James, and our gorgeous girls Dahlia and Polly. As well as being a creative and independent celebrant, I am also an abstract artist and I absolutely love bright colour!
I am a creative, modern and joyful celebrant that creates meaningful and memorable ceremonies that will have you and your guests feeling all the feels! We will laugh and cry and really show your guests who you are as a couple or who your loved one was in a true celebration of life.
I love a party but I am also very aware and in tune with how important it is to create meaning and reverence in your ceremonies. You don’t have to choose between uplifting and fun or serious and heartfelt, we can do both!
What's my ceremony style?
I am a creative celebrant with an artist’s eye and an empath’s ear. I love to listen to people’s stories and help them tell those stories in a beautiful and meaningful way, a way that is true to them. I have a dry sense of humour and generous nature, I like to think I bring the best out in people and help them feel at ease. I am professional yet relaxed, informal and never “cookie cutter”, you will always get a unique ceremony from me.
In many ways my path has always been leading towards becoming a celebrant and I am so looking forward to meeting you and working alongside you to tell your story.

I will take your love story or the life story of your loved one, and tease out the funny, beautiful and truly special moments and share them in a way that has everyone laughing, crying and nodding with recognition.
And I will hold your hand through all of it! This is often the first time you have organised a wedding or funeral and that’s not easy, let me support you and make it as stress free as possible.
What do I offer?
Weddings
I love to hear stories of love and I especially love to tell stories of love. My ideal couple have been through it and come out the other side. You are through the “honeymoon” early days, and are still in it for the long haul. Your ceremony will stay with you long after the cake has been eaten, the guest’s hangovers have subsided and you are arguing over the washing up! My favourite ceremonies are relaxed, fun and not your standard big white wedding. They might include your children or your closest friends. They might have elements of spirituality in them or a passage from your favourite TV show or film. They are a true celebration of love, whatever that looks like to you.
Weddings can cost a lot of money. But for me the magic isn’t in the designer shoes your bridesmaid is wearing or the photo booth at the reception. The magic, the “even made Uncle John tear up” moment, that’s in the ceremony. It’s in the two of you looking at each other, saying words written especially for you (or by you) and showing everyone that you two are “it” for each other. You two are the magic.
I help you create the ceremony that will be talked about for years to come. My packages can include rituals that speak to who you are as a couple, an art making session to create a commemorative keepsake, liaising with family and friends so everyone knows what they’re doing.
I can advise you if you don’t know where to start or bring to life your ideas if you have a really clear vision of your special moment.

Funerals
Funerals and memorials are very personal and it can be daunting to trust someone to deliver a service that is true to the person you have lost. Working closely with you, I am able to write a truly unique ceremony to honour the life of your loved one. As an independent celebrant my loyalties are to you and to what you feel is the right way to mark the life of that special person.
I offer a creative take on a traditional service. I can help you tell your loved one’s story and really celebrate who they were. Working alongside you, I will write a ceremony that lets their personality shine and is absolutely true to them, not “cut and paste” or inserting their name to a pre written script. I will help you with music, readings, rituals or anything else you may want to include. It doesn’t have to be a somber and grey occasion if what you really want is to remember a life well lived rather than a sad goodbye.

If you are looking for a sensitive and present celebrant, someone that will really listen to what you want and not make assumptions about you or the person that has died, I am your celebrant. I will support you with an empathetic ear and together we will come up with a ceremony that really does your loved one justice, whether that be a loud and fun celebration of life or simple and respectful “see you later”.

The biggest thank you!
The biggest thank you to George for our wonderful ceremony. George worked closely with us before our wedding, asking questions and finding out about us as a couple and even helping with our vows – her presence on the day felt way more like a friend than a supplier. She managed to turn our history into a beautiful, intimate ceremony that we felt proud sharing with family and friends. Lots of guests commented on how personal the ceremony felt and we hope to have opened a few peoples eyes to the wonderful world of celebrants! We cannot thank George enough, she was amazing.
Funeral service
George helped us at a very difficult time by listening with compassion and attentiveness, and helped us to shape a funeral ceremony for our loved one. What was particularly special was the degree of consultation which allowed us, with her tactful and delicate guidance, to create a moving and dignified ceremony that was deeply personal, and although not religious, still spiritual.
The ceremony became the highlight of the day
I think it’s fair to say in so many weddings, the ceremony is a beautiful but functional part of the day…”getting the job done” before the food and drinks start flowing and the party really begins.
George completely turned this on its head for us. She brought so much fun, laughter and heart to the occasion, to make our ceremony something which really shone as the highlight of the day.
In our initial meetings, she really understood what it was we wanted to achieve, and suggested ways to improve things without pushing her own agenda and still keeping it “us”. The script she produced was perfect and exactly what we had hoped for.
On the day, she was there early and helped out with odd jobs to de-stress us, but even more importantly was there to reassure and be a calming presence on the morning.
We knew it would be flawless, but the reaction from everyone on the day just reinforces how right our decision was in trusting George – so many people commented on how much they enjoyed it, laughed and cried, with one friend even inspired to become a celebrant herself…
We cannot recommend George enough!!!
