Hi, I'm Sharon

Hi, I am Sharon, living with my family in the northeast, where my roots are firmly placed.
I love home life and socialising with family and friends while putting the world to the right accompanied
by an occasional G&T with a splash of humour along the way… you can’t beat a good laugh!

I worked in the public sector for over 35 years, meeting and listening to people’s everyday life stories and finding solutions for problems they encountered, many of which were interesting, challenging and sometimes bizarre.

I’ve supported those most vulnerable in society at times of need and developed an extensive set of social skills, which now stand me in good stead to confidently manage those momentous life events, that can overwhelm many.

I’m a Celebrant who has the ability to support and deliver the perfect ceremony, so believe me when I say… “I’ve got you!”

What's my ceremony style?

Not in any particular order, but what you get with me is honesty, sincerity, reliability, organised, contactable, responsiveness, dedication, inquisitiveness, imagination, and creativity… oh, and I am tactile.
This sums me up when I work with individuals and families to deliver the best ceremony or service for the occasion that I am serving. I love listening to people’s stories, and what they want to achieve from their ceremony or service. This gives me a starting point to create a most memorable and sincere ceremony, encompassing everything clients would like the occasion to be.

Why choose Sharon?

Treat clients the way you would expect to be treated yourself.
Occasions such as a wedding, vow renewal, naming, or funeral, will be remembered for a lifetime, by those in attendance by what was spoken and experienced, so you need to get it right.
I aim to generate a belief that I have known the couple, the individual, and the families, for a long time, rather than as a stranger who entered their life for only a short time.
By listening to shared life stories, watching client interactions, understanding emotional responses, and engaging in conversation to fine-tune what I need to bring a magical, heartfelt ceremony together.

What do I offer?

Weddings

All types of weddings are considered, but I must admit, if you ask me to be a Celebrant with nature or water as a bit of a feature then I will be thrilled. The more rustic the better, bringing nature and water indoors is a dream interspersed with eclectic pieces around. I like to work with couples that have put their core values into the day, where they have created their own vibe and not down a formal pathway. Give me a wedding where I don a gorgeous maxi dress (which doesn’t clash with the bride or groom!) and a trendy pair of shoes/boots/wellies or barefooted on a beach, of course, then I will be in paradise.

My wedding packages can be as basic as script writing only for someone else to deliver, or the full package of writing/attending/delivering script at your ceremony, including music/readings/prayers/rituals, or another quirky event. I work with venues, suppliers, coordinators and you and your family to be as inclusive as I can… if you don’t ask you don’t get.

Naming Ceremonies

Ceremonies that have been around for centuries though increasing in popularity in modern society, allow choice to parents who consider themselves non-religious, nor want a traditional christening or baptism, but still wish to mark the occasion with family and friends.
The perfect way to acknowledge and welcome an adopted child(ren) to their new family is through a special celebration to start the bonding journey and to develop an understanding of the love their new family has for them.
Or the coming together of couples with children from previous relationships, involving fun rituals, such as sand blending or family tree fingerpainting, a visual representation of two families becoming one.
The beauty of all these ceremonies is the ability to hold them in your home, garden, or open air (weather permitting) or a location that matches your budget.

My Naming packages can be as basic as script writing only for someone else to deliver, or the full package of writing/attending/delivering script at your ceremony, including music/readings/prayers/rituals, or another quirky event.

Renewal of Vows

Celebrants love delivering a ‘renewal of vows’ ceremony as we witness couples entering a new stage of life or a new chapter in their marriage journey.
Marriage can be met with challenges at times, with highs and lows along the way. Honesty, trust, patience, respect and love, are all required to reach many milestones and the foundation of the vows made to each other at the start.
Reflection can bring a realisation of what has been achieved and at times, overcome to reach those milestones, with a desire to reaffirm commitment to one another with a ‘renewal of vows’.
This ceremony can be unbelievably powerful and emotional when surrounded by those born out of the marriage, wider family and friends who have shared times in your life journey as a couple.
You’re never too old, or young, to have a ‘renewal of vows’ ceremony.

My Renewal of Vows packages can be as basic as script writing only for someone else to deliver, or the full package of writing/attending/delivering script at your ceremony, including music/readings/prayers/rituals, or another quirky event.

Funerals

‘The Dash’ – that little symbol that sits quietly between the date of a person’s birth and death, its significance is often overlooked, writing a ceremony and watching its true meaning grow as we reflect on a loved one’s life.
I deliver a fitting tribute to the life of your loved one, through anecdotal tales and unforgettable memories shared with, encapsulating the sadness of their loss, memories of their being, and the warmth of their spirit.
I can include a prayer, a reading or poem, a piece of music or song, or even a symbol that reflects who your loved one was in the ceremony.
I enter your life as a stranger, support you in your grief as we talk, listen intently as you share memories in time, develop an understanding of who you have lost, and deliver their life story with dignity and compassion as though I had known them in person… the ultimate privilege.

Whether contacted by a Funeral Director or directly by a family member, I contact the family within 48 hours (maximum) to arrange a suitable time to conduct an initial consultation.
From this, I prepare a draft of the ceremony script, to be able to produce this within 7 days for the family to consider.
Amendments to the script, before the final version is agreed upon and signed off.
I can assist with readings, poems, and music.
I am contactable throughout the process and can offer advice and guidance for the family.
I attend the service location at least 30 minutes before, to confirm everything is in place, in preparation for the family’s arrival.
I deliver the ceremony on the day at the chosen venue.
Travel within 30 miles of the venue or meeting place
