Hi, I'm Sharon
Hello there, I’m Sharon from Unique Celebrant Ceremonies.
I offer Wedding Ceremonies, Civil Partnerships, Commitment, Vow Renewals, Naming, Renaming, Funerals, Celebrations of Life, Memorials and Pet Funeral ceremonies across Cumbria and surrounding areas. I am also willing to travel further afield.
The first thing I do is get to know you as a couple or family. I talk to you and learn all about you then deliver a completely bespoke and unique ceremony which reflects you or in the case of a funeral or celebration of life – your loved one. There are no restrictions on what you can include.
I am attracted to the power of the spoken word and absolutely love writing ceremonies. I think it an honour to be part of your special day and make your dreams a reality.

I have so many ideas for making your ceremony as unique as you and your love story are.
I take pride in what I write and deliver and no two ceremonies are the same.

You may have imagined your ceremony for a long time and it is my pleasure to grab all the different elements of a ceremony and weave them with your characters and wishes to create the perfect ceremony.

I am an Independent Civil Celebrant. I trained with Civil Ceremonies Ltd, who provide the highest possible celebrant qualification in the UK (NOCN Level 3 Diploma in Naming and Couples Ceremonies and NOCN Level 3 Diploma in Funerals (RQF) ).
I am a friendly, empathic, fun, imaginative, creative and passionate person, and I hope this shines through in all I do.
What do I offer?
Weddings
A celebrant-led wedding ceremony allows you to celebrate each other’s love in a unique way in front of your loved ones without the restrictions of time, venue or the strict rules and regulations of having a registrar do your ceremony.
You can choose the content, format and style and therefore your ceremony will be completely personal to you.
I am able to give you the complete freedom to have the ceremony you have always dreamed of which reflects your love, your story, your personalities, your hopes and wishes for the future and your promises to one another.
It can be as long or as short as you like, you can involve your nearest and dearest in it, it can be with or without spiritual or religious references. Perhaps you will have a reading from your favourite love story, a poem about true love or take part in a symbolic act? You could choose to write your own vows or I could help you. It can have all, none or some of the elements of a traditional wedding – it really is up to you!
Your ceremony will be unique – no other couple will have a ceremony like yours.

Naming Ceremonies
Today, many families are choosing to celebrate and welcome their new child to the family in an informal, fun and highly personalised way. Naming ceremonies are the perfect way to welcome a child of any age. Our names are an incredibly important part of our identity. Often our names are given to us before we are born. They carry deep personal, cultural, familial, and historical connections. We may be named after a family member who is no longer with us, a modern twist of a very old name, or maybe we are named after our parents favourite A-lister! Names also give us a sense of who we are, the communities in which we belong, and our place in the world. Naming ceremonies involve the important people in your child’s life. I can help you write the promises and commitments you choose to make to your child or you may have them entrenched in your mind already.
The possibilities are endless – there are no constraints! Naming ceremonies can be held indoors or outdoors and at a location of your choice. You have complete freedom to choose all the content – whatever feels just right for you and your family. The ceremony could be non-religious, religious or spiritual in nature – it will be in line with your beliefs, wishes and dreams. You could have a particular theme – Winnie the Poo, Dr. Seuss, Julia Donaldson or perhaps we will go on a Bear Hunt! You can have God-parents or guide-parents, you may want to involve your child’s grandparents or your best friends as they pledge their love and support for your child’s life now and in the future. You may want to add a symbolic gesture such as a unity candle or sand ceremony, tree planting, footprint making, a memory box or time capsule – there’s so many options! You are only limited by your imagination!

Renewal of Vows
Vow renewal ceremonies are on the rise! Perhaps you’re celebrating a special wedding anniversary, you may have been through a rough time, your original wedding may not have been the dream day you had hoped for, or sadly it may be at a time when a loved one has a terminal illness and wish to reaffirm your love to leave ever lasting memories of love, happiness and joy. Maybe though you just want an excuse for a big party! Whatever the reason I can help you celebrate!
Vow Renewals are such a sacred recognition of love and commitment. It gives you a chance to reflect on the journey of married life you have had so far and to express your hopes and wishes for the future.
Just like the wedding ceremonies I deliver; you can include anything you like in your ceremony. I work with the both of you as we prepare a day to remember! I will write a beautiful ceremony, a unique one, to celebrate the past, present and future of your marriage. You can write your own vows or promises or choose to renew your old ones. You may want a wedding ring rededication, buy new rings or another special token of love. Anything that has become special to you through the course of your marriage, we can include in the ceremony: special songs, poems, film quotes. Maybe you have a family now and would like to involve them in the ceremony. You might even be able to include your original bridesmaids and best man.

Funerals
If you are reading this because someone you love has died; I am so sorry for your loss.
A funeral is always going to be sad as you are saying your last goodbyes. It does not need to be a sombre ceremony however, my ceremonies can be written in a way that is uplifting and as positive as possible, with the focus very much on a life lived than death.
You may want a traditional service, or you may want to go against convention as I aim to create a very personal, memorable and unique ceremony that talks of your loved one’s life story in a celebratory, genuine, respectful and heartfelt way. We can celebrate the good times, the fun times you shared, their personality and unique likes and dislikes and all the other things that made your loved one who they were.
I believe that a good funeral should be profound and transformational in processing the loss of someone you love dearly.
I focus on the most important and memorable aspects of your loved one’s life and their relationship with family and friends. The ceremony is a reflection of your individual memories.
I will work closely alongside you to understand your wishes and those of your loved one. I will support you every step of the way and create a truly fitting tribute in an atmosphere of love and support. I will do my very best to create a safe environment for you to grieve and ensure that the ceremony gives you ease and comfort at this particularly difficult time.

I work closely with your funeral director to ensure everything runs smoothly.
You are in control – there are no rules about what can and should be said. You are free to choose readings and poems, music if you would like to. You may choose to have hymns and prayers or keep the ceremony completely non-religious. It is totally up to you and I will be there to help you.
