Hi, I’m David.
I’m an experienced & award winning celebrant. I called my celebrant services Acorn 2 Oak Ceremonies because of my love for nature, the outdoors, woodlands, plants, trees and flowers.
I create ceremonies which honour all stages in our natural life-cycle, whether you’re welcoming your little acorns into the world, celebrating your love story, commemorating life events or saying farewell at the end of someone’s life.
Your own story is unique. My job is to listen and understand what your ceremony means to you. We will then explore ideas and options, so I can craft and deliver a beautiful service which reflects the aspects of life which matter to you most.
What's my ceremony style?
I am a creative and shameless romantic. Love is at the heart of all my ceremonies, whether you’re welcoming a new child, celebrating a family union, making a commitment in your relationship or remembering a life that has gone.
As an imaginative and empathic person, I will help you express and celebrate your love in a way which reflects your values, your personality and your way of living.
Whether you prefer romance, tradition, fun, solemnity, laughter, modern or eco-friendly, I will blend all your desired ingredients into a ceremony which captures your very own style.
I want your ceremony to be an exquisite “moment in time”, creating a precious, joyful experience for you and your guests.

I offer a wide range of wedding options to give you maximum choice and to fit your budget. Mid-week or weekend? Intimate micro-wedding, elopement or big-event-of-the-year?
You might like to feature an original unique and symbolic ritual, such as Hand-Fasting, Tree-Planting, Sand-Blending, Jumping the Broom or Ring Warming – to name just a few.
As well as liaising with your chosen venue, I will work with your photographer and videographer to ensure all the special moments of your ceremony are captured.

Naming Ceremonies
I craft and deliver beautiful, personal and dignified ceremonies for all stages of life. Whether you are welcoming a new baby into the world, adopting a child into your family or blending a new family with children from previous relationships, I will write and lead a gorgeous welcoming occasion which will be unique and memorable.
If you have transitioned and you want to announce to the world and celebrate your new name and identity, I will work with you to create an amazing and dignified celebration for you to share with those who love you dearly.
I will meet with you in person or virtually to co-create your relaxed, enjoyable and deeply personal ceremony. I love to include tree planting as a beautiful legacy in a naming ceremony. I will work with you on what mini-ceremonies you may want to include to fit with the circumstances of your occasion. This could include sand-blending, a wishes tree or blessing box to name just a few. I will work with those people nearest to you who you may also want to include in your naming ceremony, for example, guide-parents, grandparents, your dearest friends. I will work with you, your friends and family individually so that your ceremony is deeply personal and involves some lovely surprises on the day.

As a father of 3 children and experienced teacher and headteacher, I have a deep experience of nurturing, supporting and engaging children. I am passionate about the role, commitment and learning that is involved in being a parent. I have both personal and professional experience of supporting children and adults who are adopted and who are transgender.
Renewal of Vows
I craft and deliver beautiful, personal and dignified renewal of vows ceremonies. I love outdoor vow renewals and woodland vow renewals in particular. I will meet with you in person or via video-link to understand your wishes and dreams. I will work with you individually as well as a couple so that your ceremony is deeply personal and involves some lovely surprises for you both. I will work to honour any values, beliefs or family heritage you want to feature in your vow renewal ceremony. I will deliver your vow renewal ceremony in a warm and dignified style so that your relationship and union is celebrated and honoured in equal measure.

Why choose David for your renewal of vows?
Having been married myself for 25 years, I know that the path of love and marriage is not lined with rose petals. As my wise mother-in-law once told me, “You’ll have as many Monday mornings as you will do Saturday nights”. But I am a creative and shameless romantic. I will embrace your real love story so that this becomes the centre stage of your vow renewal ceremony.
As a patient and empathic person I will co-create a deeply personal and beautiful ceremony for you which reflects your values, your personality and your dreams. I will deliver your ceremony with dignity, gravitas and humour where appropriate.
Funerals
As well as cremation services, I also write and deliver ceremonies for burials, at a cemetery or at a woodland burial site, the internment or scattering of ashes and memorial services.
If you are organising the funeral, I will meet you and family members/friends in your home, at the chapel of rest or other venue, or via video-link – whichever is preferred. Alternatively, if this is not possible or desired, the service can be discussed and arranged on the phone and through the exchange of emails.
I will take time to learn about the person who has died, their personality and life story, and to understand their wishes, along with those of family and/or friends.
My approach will honour the values and beliefs you wish to feature in the funeral service. I will help and support you with the selection of any music, readings and other elements which are desired.
On the basis of our conversations, I will write the eulogy and send it to you for checking, so we can refine it as needed, to ensure that all the details are correct and that you are happy with the measure and tone of the service.
I am a fully-trained member of the Institute of Professional Celebrants.
I will deliver the funeral service in a warm and dignified style so that the life of the person who has died is celebrated and honoured in equal measure.
I will provide you with a commemorative copy of the service to complement any printed order of service.

As a patient, caring and empathic person, I will co-create a deeply personal and dignified funeral service, which reflects the values, personality and the wishes of the person who has died and their family.
I will deliver the funeral service with dignity, composure and compassion, weaving in a gentle, respectful celebration of life.
I will work with you, your family and your funeral director so that your ceremony supports those who are attending the funeral.
If children wish to be involved in saying goodbye at the end of someone’s life, I will help craft an approach where their needs are meaningfully and sensitively met.

Personal and meaningful wedding ceremony
David was the most wonderful celebrant to lead our wedding ceremony in July. When we first met David online, we instantly felt at ease and he quickly understood our values, outlook and plans for the ceremony. We had a few clear ideas of what we wanted for the ceremony and he worked with us using his extensive experience to create a ceremony that was so meaningful, personal and memorable for us and our guests.
On the day David was proactive in engaging with who he needed to brief in terms of readers, musicians and our page boy which was really helpful on taking some pressure off the groom (who was having a last minute button hole dilemma!).
Overall we couldn’t have asked for anything more from David and we we highly recommend him to anyone looking for a celebrant.
Beautifully personalized ceremony
David really took the time to get to know us and learn all about our relationship. The result of this was a beautifully personalised ceremony. He asked us lots of questions about how we wanted the ceremony to be, and delivered exactly what we were hoping for. He really made us feel at ease on the day and added humour create a light but beautiful atmosphere. His communication with us was great especially considering that we live abroad. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.
The perfect ceremony!!! Everything we wanted & more
We found David online along our search for what kind of ceremony to have. We chose David as we loved how personal his ceremonies seemed, and after having an initial virtual meeting with him, how warm and friendly he was.
The ceremony was just everything we wanted it to be and more. It was personal, meaningful, moving and funny all wrapped up into one. Our guests all commented how lovely it was, with many saying it was the most personal, moving and fun service they’d seen.
How much David really cared about making the ceremony right for us. He was always happy to discuss things further and tweak details of the ceremony. He helped us by collaborating on ideas of a way we could incorporate our want for a modern ceremony that reflected us and still include some traditional elements as well as some Hindu traditions.
If you are wanting to find a way to truly make your wedding ceremony personal to you I would absolutely recommend enquiring with David. He genuinely seems to care about ensuring he can make couples wedding days the best day for them – and totally understands this is unique for each couple. He has great advice and really takes his time to figure out how to write the best ceremony for you. He wrote the most beautiful introduction to set the scene of our ceremony, and also was a great help organising our confetti after too!
I am so glad to have come across David’s celebrant service and think booking him was one of my best decisions of our wedding day (other than deciding to marry the love of my life of course)
