Hi, I'm Kay
Hello, my name is Kay and I am a wedding, vow renewal, child naming and funeral celebrant.
I have worked in the events industry for many years, so one thing I know how to do, is to make people feel special. A few years ago, I wanted something new and I looked for a career that would benefit from my skillset and help others feel great on special occasions. I love the creativity of writing and designing the little individual flairs that turns your occasion from ordinary to extraordinary.
What's my ceremony style?
Weddings are so special that in order to make it ‘the best day of our lives’, it is definitely one of the of the most rewarding ceremonies to be part of. Including symbolic actions such as a hand fasting or a sand ceremony only adds to the occasion.
Vow Renewals are really special as they often capture a lifetime of memories for the couple. What a fabulous way to celebrate 25, 50, 60 or even 70 years of married life together. There usually isn’t a dry eye by the end of the ceremony – always truly beautiful.
The naming ceremony that captivates the young guests is another magical occasion; happily sitting at the front in awe of the parents and godparents pledging to love and support this child in all his lifetime endeavours.
And even writing and delivering a funeral ceremony which perfectly sums up the life of the deceased by compassionately involving the family at every stage.

What do I offer?

Weddings
All of my wedding ceremonies contain all of the elements that you might expect to see at a wedding celebration – exchange of vows and rings, music and heartfelt words of love, but also lots of wonderful details about the couple; and if we can involve your guests too, even better. Your ceremony should reflect you, it should be personal, warm and relaxed, and I guarantee to create wonderful lasting memories for everyone attending, especially you.
Please contact me for prices for Wedding Elopements.
Some symbolic elements may involve additional costs if you would like to retain as keepsakes – please ask me about these when we speak.

Why choose Kay for your wedding?
Wedding ceremonies should reflect both people and the uniqueness of their love for each other. However you choose to do this day, remember it is your wedding celebration and you don’t have to follow traditional formats. As a civil celebrant I am passionate about helping to make your wedding ceremony personal and a true reflection of your love for each other.

Naming Ceremonies
Naming ceremonies give you, your family and your friends a chance to welcome your child, no matter the age, into the family. There is nothing more precious in this world than your child, and there is a lifetime of opportunity ahead for them, so this is the chance to celebrate this precious new beginning.
There is no set format, what works for one family might not work for yours. I am here to help you create something which is truly unique. Perhaps you want family and friends to take part in the ceremony. They might read a poem or blessing or they could be part of a symbolic action such as, the lighting of candles, blending sand or adding wishes to a Tree of Life.

Renewal of Vows
Most couples choose to hire a celebrant for their vow renewal ceremony to make the occasion more formal. During the ceremony you may choose to repeat the marriage vows you made to each other at your wedding, or you could opt to make new ones, if you are renewing vows many years later.
It is a beautiful way to commemorate a love that has deepened or matured between a couple. It might be a significant anniversary milestone of 25 years, 50 years or 60 years of marriage together. There are also other personal reasons to celebrate too; perhaps you have overcome a tough time and want to share this with your closest family and friends. Or it might be due to one partner suffering from illness and you wish to celebrate with immediate family.
Can members of the family or friends take part in vow renewals?
Yes absolutely. This is often what helps to show physically how your lives have changed and become more enriched since your wedding day. Children and grand-children can also play a part in the ceremony, as well as friends that have come into your life since you were first married. These new and important people may take the pressure off it being ‘all about you’.
Can we exchange rings or ‘bless’ our existing wedding rings?
Ceremonies can also involve a symbolic ritual known as ring-warming or ring blessing, where the rings are passed around and blessed by family and friends.
Remember that there are no strict rules, the ceremony is only limited by imagination – I am here to guide you to your perfect vow renewal ceremony.
Why choose Kay for your renewal of vows?
Vow renewals should be written with who are you are now in mind. You can renew your original vows or you can write new ones which reflect the landmarks of your life together; children, grandchildren, good times, not so good times, health, wealth and happiness.
Each vow renewal ceremony is unique to the couple, but one thing they all have in common is the desire to show the strength of their love for each other.

Funerals
Losing a loved one, is a devastating time whether expected or completely out of the blue. I can help create loving and personal funeral ceremonies that will go some way to making the last goodbye a less painful one.
Why should I choose a celebrant for our funeral?
As a qualified celebrant, I am trained to compassionately coax details about your loved one that you may not have thought about for a long time. Creating a funeral ceremony that will befit the deceased and allow the family and friends to say goodbye in a personal way, is the skill required by a professional celebrant.
I will spend as long as it takes with a family to get to know the person they love. We’ll talk about them, chat about their relationship with the family and their friends. If you need help I can suggest music, poetry or readings, to provide smooth transitions to each part of the ceremony.
Many funeral ceremonies these days have no religious content at all and that will be entirely up to you. However, if you would like a short reading or blessing or wish to recite The Lord’s Prayer, that can also be included.
Natural Burials – It is becoming ever more popular to find new ways to care for our earth, environmentally friendly burials and funeral ceremonies help to protect and preserve our planet when our loved ones pass on.
The beauty of some of these green cemeteries can be wonderful unspoilt landscapes which can be a peaceful and fitting resting place for our loved ones to get back to nature.
Green Funerals are also a celebration of a life and if protecting the planet was important to your loved one, then these are great alternatives to a traditional funeral service.

Why choose Kay for your funeral?
Funeral ceremonies should be personal. If time permits, you may wish to add a personal symbolic action to the ceremony, and there are some beautiful ways to do this. A Memory Tree – where each person present shares a memory or a photo. You will have all the time you need to read the messages and look at the photographs after the ceremony.
If your loved-one has left specific instructions or discussed with you some details about the type ceremony chosen, these will be included. This will help you to make appropriate decisions in the knowledge that you are following their wishes.

A Sensitive and Caring Celebrant
Kay conducted the funeral service of my step father in law yesterday.
Kay was so caring and professional in helping me with my tribute to Andrew.
She has a warmth and gentleness about her.
Kay stood right beside me while I delivered my tribute in the crematorium and this really helped me.
Kay was very natural when she spoke about Andrew and she managed to make a stressful occasion feel very relaxed.
I would recommend Kay as a Celebrant for any occasion.
Funeral for my mum
From spending time with Kay at our initial meeting we knew she was the right person to conduct the service for mum . She was genuinely interested in us as a family and what mum was like as a person .
There was great communication in putting together our thoughts / songs , readings for the day as well as what Kay had added , nothing was too much trouble to change add details .
On the day itself Kay was welcoming to all and gave mum the best send off we could have hoped for .. I would recommend Kay at your occasion . Thank you .
