Hi, I'm Selina
My name is Selina, I am 39 and I hail from a gorgeous village in Saddleworth Lancashire. I have been working with newly engaged couples for 15 years now, helping them to find their perfect wedding rings. I’m always so excited to hear about their plans and how they’ve got to this point. How they met and their proposal story. Ceremonies by Sel was born out of a love for people, love stories, weddings and celebrating all of life’s milestones.
If this Pandemic has taught us anything, it is that life is short, and all this madness has inspired me to want to help people beyond the doors of the jewellers. To celebrate who they are as a couple and a family, in their own way.
What's my ceremony style?
My style is relaxed, a bit bonkers, loving and fun. I’ve been told I have a knack for story telling and I love to make people laugh. I’m super adaptable, so I’ll be excited to create an intimate romantic ceremony as much as I’d buzz to put together a halloween inspired celebration or a festival feel!
I’m a friendly, funny, northern lass who has a love for words, stories, the weird and wonderful and a great big fat “CHEERS”
Why choose Selina?
I’m very down to earth, open to all kinds of ideas, themes and styles. I have a huge family so i’m no stranger to organised chaos or the unexpected.
I always try to see the funny side of things but i’m a sucker for romance and sentiment.
I will be with you throughout your planning process as much or as little as you need me.
By the time your big day comes around I will be a friendly familiar face to you.
What do I offer?
My ideal couple are super excited to marry each other, sounds obvious right?
I’ve met enough couples over the years to know that the ceremony is sometimes the part of the day that they want to get out of the way or they’ve put more investment into a photo booth than what they want to say in their vows.
All Ceremonies are unique and special but one with equal measurements of silliness, sentiment, surprises and audience participation would definitely be up there for me!
I will be available to you via email/phone/whatsapp/text throughout the whole planning process
And get to know you using some fun questionnaires.
I will create, write and perform your whole ceremony from scratch including your running order.
I will work into your ceremony, any readings, rituals or poems you have chosen and help you involve any family members who would like to be a part of the day.
I have lots of amazing and varied readings and rituals on file for you to explore.
I will be with you on the day 90 mins before the ceremony is due to start
I will welcome your guests and make any necessary tweaks or additions to the script before we start.
I will be around for approx 20 mins after the ceremony to clear my space (maybe grab a quick selfie with you lovely people!) and to congratulate you!
Why choose Selina for your wedding?
What does a wedding mean to you??
In amongst the menus and venue choices, colour schemes and favours, who’s sitting where and guest list trimming just don’t lose sight of the WHY!!
This is a celebration of your love!!
This is your day.
This is whatever YOU (as a couple) want it to be.
It should look like you, feel like you and sound like you ♥️
As your celebrant it’s my job to take your personalities and stuff ‘em right into your ceremony! I get it, I get why when you find a life partner, you want to just have a day with all your loved ones and say “we’ve blimmin well made it!”
I appreciate that the little things count and I’m invested in you from the start. I want to help you and I believe that as individuals, your ceremony should reflect who you are as a couple. I want to help you find the words and the ways to cement your commitment in front of your nearest and dearest and the world!

Renewal of Vows
My ideal couple would have a lot of stories to tell. It’s inevitable that they will have overcome challenges in their lives together and marriage and perhaps have a lot they could teach about it too!
Why choose Selina for your renewal of vows?
Unfortunately Ceremonies by Sel is not available for Funerals.

Perfectly personalised and fun ceremony
Sel understood who we were as a couple from our first virtual video call. She embraced our quirkiness and this resulted in a ceremony which told our love story in a fun and funny way. We felt so comfortable and confident with Sel that it felt like a friend was hosting our ceremony. We couldn’t have found a more perfect celebrant for our wedding day.
A peek behind the scenes!
I was privileged enough to attend a wedding with Selina at The Titanic Hotel in Liverpool. I was initially there to help with the set up and to see how it all actually goes from start to finish for her. And what a day it was! A true insight.
The first words that come to me are absolute professionalism, but fun with it. Selina goes above and beyond, even when she doesn’t have to, she wants your day to be perfect in every way possible. We arrived at the hotel and Selina quickly found Jess who was the wedding coordinator and introduced herself with a huge smile, already she was excited to be there!
We were shown to the ceremony area and Selina wasted no time in setting the scene as the bride and groom had wished. I could see how much was going through her mind, being aware of where she’d be stood etc.
Selina made time to speak to all of the other suppliers that were there which was lovely and she also went to see the bride to go through a few things and make sure everything was ok and if anything had changed or needed adding. The bride was actually feeling very emotional and asked Selina if she wouldn’t mind doing the reading she was meant to do, and she had absolutely no problem in doing this. This is when I started to really understand the beauty of not just having a wedding celebrant, but having someone that a bride and groom, or ‘her couple’ as she referred to them, can truly rely on, for anything, and not just on the day, but the whole lead up to the ceremony.
There was a voice warm up, a run through of the ceremony, a long chat with the photographers about positioning, a calm talk with the groom and a double check for the prompt for the isle music.
Selina even made time to chat to family members as they came to find their seats, she ooozed a calmness and shon some curiosity in people about what was about to happen. And not once did that smile fall from her face! She loves this job, and she loves her couples. Each one is so unique and she puts 100% into you, she is in love with a love story.
During the ceremony there were laughs out loud and tears from everyone. Selina told their story beautifully, you can see how important it is to her to get that across. She delivered their own personal story with passion and with a perfectly appropriate manner for the content.
After the ceremony Selina gathered her things and waited a good half an hour or so before speaking to the bride and groom for a final chat about the day and to wish them every happiness. She snaps a little selfie with every couple which is such a lovey touch. People were stopping her to say well done and how lovely it was, but also how surprised they were because it wasn’t just a standard vow exchange, it was much much more than that! It was funny and relevant, modern, unique, personal and emotional. It was all about them, which is just how it should be right?
Selina was brilliant, I cannot recommend her highly enough. You were made for this job Selina!
Wedding at Jervaulx Abbey July 2022
As soon as we had our first introductory call with Sel, we knew she was right for us. She had a fun energy and enthusiasm but was also laid back. She made us feel at ease right away and we felt she would be the perfect fit for our relaxed wedding at Jervaulx Abbey. The process with Sel was smooth from start to finish. When we first received our script, we were both really impressed with how well Sel seemed to have captured us without actually having met us in person and we even shed a little tear. We made very few changes to Sel’s draft and she helped us with our vows along the way.
On the day itself, Sel didn’t have the easiest job- having to stand outside and deliver the ceremony in the (unexpected) rain! She donned an umbrella and got on with it. She delivered a touching ceremony which we loved. We also really enjoyed the personal touches- our handmade vow cards, the cute wedding pack and the certificate for us (and our dog) to sign- very cute. When she introduced herself to us after the ceremony, we actually forgot we hadn’t previously met in person!
