Hi, I'm Helen
I am a professional English celebrant based in South West France (Gers). I have lived in France for many years now and for 17 of those years I worked in a beautiful chateau running 3 day events and weddings. During this time I managed over 250 weddings before training to be an independent celebrant. You can be assured there’s not much I don’t know about your special day! Since becoming a celebrant, my passion is to write and deliver bespoke, personal and very special ceremonies for any occasion – weddings, funerals, baby naming ceremonies and vow renewals. Whether you want something fun and informal, elegant and ritualistic, religious or non-religious, I would love to create a joyful ceremony that is uniquely yours. It’s important you are completely comfortable with your celebrant so please don’t hesitate to contact me for a chat with absolutely no obligation. My ceremonies are in English but I can also offer French bilingual.
What's my ceremony style?
I have been an independent celebrant for some years now and before this I worked in the wedding events industry for 15 years, playing an active role in wedding planning, so there is not much I don’t know about how to make your ceremony extra special and stress free. I love my job , especially having the opportunity to write and deliver a wedding ceremony for you that is seamless, relaxed, fun and uniquely yours. I am an honest, straightforward person who will gently and expertly guide you through the maze of possibilities, so you can enjoy the process of planning your wedding and not have any worries about the ceremony – you’re in good hands!
My style is modern and eloquent, gentle with warm humour and always respectful of your wishes.

Every wedding is different as every couple is unique and special. That is why it is so important to have someone alongside who really understands how to weave together your ceremony, creating a magical moment that is all about you. It is my job to help and guide you through the maze of choices available for your ceremony and perhaps help you to include any rituals or acknowledgements to your own cultural heritage or beliefs. The best ceremonies are the ones where the wedding couple write their own love stories and where family and friends are included. These are so personal and unforgettable.

Funerals
Whether you would like to organise a funeral in a Crematorium, in a field, have your own ‘living funeral’, or simply organise a memorial in your home for a dearly departed loved one, as an English celebrant in the Gers region of SW France, I can offer my services to plan, write and deliver your ceremony. As a French speaker I am able to liaise with the Funeral Directors and Crematorium to provide a stress-free, seamless ceremony and help gently and professionally lead you through what can be a confusing and difficult time. I will plan the order of service, music and of course write a bespoke Eulogy, creating a meaningful service and fitting final farewell for your loved one. Saying ‘goodbye’ is never easy. I will take time to listen about the real person behind your loss, to gently and professionally lead you through what can be a confusing and difficult time The most important part of my job is to listen to stories and recollections of the deceased and create a ceremony that fully reflects the passions, love, humour, struggles and important moments they experienced, that made them unique. My aim is to celebrate this by writing every ceremony with honesty and integrity, recounting each unique story in a respectful way that will honour their memory.

Helen Butler was incredible
From our initial chat, Helen made us feel at ease and talked us through the ceremony giving us many options to choose from. Helen took the time to talk us through the different rituals, reading suggestions, vows and love letters. We weren’t sure about the love letters to begin with, but I’m so glad we took Helen’s advice!
Helen came to complete a rehearsal with us the day before our wedding, and ensured that everything was planned well including timings of walking down the aisle to the music etc.
All of our guests said that our ceremony was the most romantic and interesting they had ever witnessed which made us so grateful.
Helen, we can’t thank you enough for making our wedding and ceremony so truly emotional, romantic and fun. You are incredible at what you do and we are eternally grateful.
