Hi, I'm Steve

A warm welcome and thank you for visiting my profile.
Are you looking for a professional yet relaxed civil celebrant? Do you want something a little different? Do you want a ceremony that your friends and family will be involved in and will remember for ever? Whether you are getting married, saying a sad farewell to a loved one, renewing your vows or welcoming a new family member into your loving home, it will be an honour to share that journey with you and work with you to create and deliver your story. I am a civil celebrant for weddings, funerals, celebration of life, adoption welcoming, pet funerals, scattering/interment of ashes and naming ceremonies throughout Shropshire, Cheshire, Mid/North Wales and the West Midlands.

What's my ceremony style?

If you would like your ceremony to feel upbeat right from the start, I provide live music on the trumpet or organ/piano. The most popular for walking down the aisle is “Here Comes the Bride” but, if the organ or the slower romantic pieces don’t take your fancy, what about Trumpet Voluntary, often heard at Royal weddings.
At funerals, I can perform The Last Post on the bugle as a nod to the deceased time in the military or emergency services. It is often sounded at military funerals to indicate that the soldier has gone to his final rest.

Why choose Steve?

As a headteacher and musician, I’d often been asked to speak or perform at weddings and funerals of friends and family. Public speaking and performing are something I thoroughly enjoy doing. After 28 years as a teacher, I decided it was time for a change of career and to take the plunge and become a celebrant. And I love it!
I studied music at music college, and I began my working life as a professional musician this led to me performing at many different venues including many weddings and funerals.

What do I offer?

Funeral | 01/08/2024 | Telford crematorium

It was my dad’s funeral and I’d been put into contact with Steve Pritchard-Jones to be the celebrant, I can’t thank steve enough for for the way he organised the the order of service. He came to our house and took some details about dad his interests and what he was like as a character. I told steve he used to play the cornet and loved brass band music so Steve being a professional cornet player and musician said he will play a tribute to dad on the day so not only did steve do an amazing job of speaking about dad and his life he played what a wonderful world on the cornet to perfection I can’t thank Steve enough for his service on one of the hardest days of my life Steve made it a lot easier and for that I will be forever grateful.

Funeral | 01/17/2024 | Telford

Good Morning Steve

I’m sending this email on behalf of myself, Chris and Janet.

The service you delivered was beautiful and you did our dad proud; you summed him up perfectly.

We had so many of the people who attended say what a lovely service it was , with something there for all to remember our dad by.

Thank you so much for playing the last post and reveille. That was very moving and very much appreciated.

Dad had a very dignified and moving send off.

Thank you so much.

Hi Steve

I just wanted to drop you a short note to thank you so much for your services yesterday at Mom’s funeral. Lisa and I were so pleased with how the funeral went and this was in no small part down to you and your warm and friendly delivery of the service. It felt so personal to Mom and we agreed that if she’d been in the congregation, she would have enjoyed listening to what was said, the poems and the music.

Despite the sadness of the occasion, Lisa and I had a lovely day. It was great to catch up with Mom’s friends and share memories. They all commented on what a lovely service it was.

We will be getting in touch shortly with Harry Edwards to arrange the interment of Mom’s ashes in Wellington Cemetery and we’d like you to say a few words on the day for us. They/we will be in touch in the next couple of weeks regarding a date.

Thanks again, Steve, we really appreciate what you did yesterday.

Kind regards

Lorraine & Lisa
