Hello, my name is Zu Gatward. I am a trained celebrant and was a registrar, marriage officer and registered celebrant with the Kent County Council in the UK. Just celebrated my 16th years of living in United Arab Emirates and have been conducting ceremonies in the Emirates for last 9 years.
The cosmopolitan melting pot in the Emirates allows for multitude of cultures and beliefs to be embraced into wedding ceremonies, renewal of vows and naming ceremonies. Celebrating Love, Joy and Connections. At Affinity Fair, your unique and exceptional ceremony with be full of love, joy and connections.
What's my ceremony style?
Quite often the ceremony part of the wedding can be overlooked. This is the one aspect of the day that you can make it your own – memorable and special for you and your partner or the family, with your own vows and promises to each other, personalised readings, rituals and music…. The sky is the limit!
My style is to complement your style. Couples have requested for all sorts of style. From a very formal church-like ceremony with no impediment question right through to arriving in a 4×4 with the bride after a dune bashing session to get to the peak of the dune for the ceremony! I really enjoy incorporating a ritual in a ceremony. A love letter and wine time capsule, hand-fasting, sand-blending…its all about connections and memories which brings joy and happiness at a ceremony be it a wedding, a renewal or naming your little ones.

I have always believed in connections. Finding that right celebrant who “gets’ you and your vision of your special day. I would like to think that my relaxed and reassuring manner along side my years of experience would help with the couples/families choosing me to be part of their wonderful day.
Every couple/family has an idea of how they see their ceremony and being able to listen and help actualise that vision is fulfilling indeed! To be flexible, fluid and move with the moment plays an important part for a successful, fun, joyful ceremony.
What do I offer?
Weddings
Every couple is unique and every ceremony has its own special moments. My aim is to ensure that I have listened to what they want and make it come true while making sure that the couple is comfortable and stress free. I want them to be able to enjoy the ceremony and feel the love and conviction of their vows to each other. I love all types of ceremony to be honest. From an elopement in the desert with just 2 guests as witnesses to a big lavish 300 guests Syrian wedding with traditional Dabke (Levantine folk dance) with drums and joyful singing.

The perfect celebrant for us!
Zu was the perfect celebrant for our wedding! In the lead up to our day she met with us twice to help us through putting together our vows and how the ceremony would go. On the day, our ceremony was seamless and we could enjoy the moment while Zu took care of the rest and conducted everything beautifully, We’d highly recommend Zu.
25 years of Love
We could’nt be more happier to know that it was the best decision to have Zu be the Celebrant of our Vow Renewal. She is warm and friendly and made us feel so at ease and comfortable. The vow ceremony was lovely and Zu complemented it perfectly!!!
25th Wedding Vow Renewal
An absolutely amazing day made even better by Zu. I cannot thank Zu enough for how brilliant she has been throughout this whole experience. I planned a vow renewal for my Mom and Dad and Zu helped me every step of the way. I was initially booked in with another lady who left the country and Zu was so quick to step up, take over and remove any worries I had! She suggested we meet for a coffee to go over every little detail and was so kind straight away which put me completely at ease. She was in constant contact throughout and would always have time to answer my (many) questions. The day itself was perfect with Zu bringing the perfect amount of emotion and humour to the ceremony. I honestly couldn’t have asked for any more. Thank you Zu and I hope we have many more celebrations involving you in the future xx
