Hi, I'm Alexandra (or Alex)

I simply adore creating a ceremony that is completely focused on you. You are unique and, I believe, so should your ceremony be.

My role is to ensure that your ceremony is one that you and your guests remember- for the right reasons!

I take the time to understand what you are like and what you want. This is so important. I think it is also important that you get to know me. After all, you are going to stand in front of me and say some of the most important, special and meaningful words you will ever say.

If you tell me “X” is your favourite film I will go and watch it. If you say “Z” is my favourite song I will listen to it. It is essential that I understand you and what you want.

I can add ideas and guide you through finding the perfect poems and readings. I work very closely with you to create the ceremony you want.

There is no point me choosing “Bonkers” by Dizzy Rascal if you prefer “Pachelbel’s Cannon”.

There is no point me suggesting your rings are “brought in by an owl” if you have a fear of birds!

I work with you to incorporate all the elements you want, spiritual, personal, moving, funny, rustic, vintage, wacky even. From classical to Monty Python! (yes I even did a Monty Python themed wedding and at the end of it was able to give my couple a personally dedicated signed photo of Michael Palin!)

The key thing is that the ceremony suits you perfectly. I welcome couples from the LBGTQ community and love multicultural ceremonies. Mixing and blending traditions from different backgrounds, and creating your own special rituals.

What's my ceremony style?

Gosh, Ceremony Style – well it’s all about you, not me!

I am a very down to earth person with a spiritual side. My friends describe me open, easy to talk to and completely non-judgemental. I am Environmentally conscious Completely focused on customer service (it’s in the blood).

I am warm, engaging and collaborative.

I am flexible and open-minded.

I embrace the outdoor weddings but equally happy under a roof – any roof! Actually thinking about it let’s not restrict ourselves, let’s find somewhere unusual!

I am not restricted to time. I am not restricted to content including beautiful symbolic actions both old and new.

So feel free to think outside the box – or ask me for ideas.

Basically, the ceremony can be as simple or creative as you are happy with. Sometimes less is more and sometimes more is magnificent!

So if you want to have your ceremony in a hot air balloon or in your own garden then you can.

Why choose Alexandra (or Alex)?

Firstly, If I could make you a cup of tea, or pour you a glass of wine I would.

Simply put I love people and find their stories fascinating, often inspiring and always moving – even if they are funny. I want your ceremony to be what you want. To reflect you in the way that is right for you. When you book me you get me. 23.5/7 (we all need a few moments to ourselves!).

I know you might not remember everything you want the first time we talk so we will go over everything again and again to make sure.

I am very open-minded and welcome your ideas, but I am equally happy to give you guidance or suggestions. Especially if you are not sure what you want. I am here to hold your hands through the process from start to finish.

A little like ordering a cake – we need to know the right ingredients to use to tailor it to your taste.

If you like a bit of theatre – I say bring it on! But if you want to keep it simple then that is just dandy (less can be more!) I am patient, flexible creative (some might consider me alternative). I am very very dedicated. I prefer to do less weddings a year but spend more time in getting how you want it. I will provide an order of service with checkpoints so we can check off the key elements around the flow of the ceremony (your entrances, when people stand, music timings etc). Basically this is like a bit of choreography from start to finish so we have to get the timings right – after all we don’t want the photographer to be in the wrong place when it comes to The kiss

I am always at the end of a phone, email or skype, to answer questions, make suggestions. Often I will set up a whatsapp group so both of you are included and can be part of the journey. After all it is about the two of you and your wishes!

Naming Ceremony | 08/03/2019 | East Grinstead

Last year Alex lead the naming ceremony for our third child, Evangeline. From the moment we spoke, I knew Alex was the celebrant for us. Warm, creative and full of empathy she helped us to pull together a beautiful event that had a lot of personal meaning after a tricky period of our lives. She listened to all our considerations, and had a very holistic approach that helped us to plan the day exactly as we wanted it. Her ideas and suggestions were very spot on for us a a family, and it felt like we were creating the day together which made her a hugely integral part of the celebration, more like a friend by the end. She was unperturbed by some of our quirks, and was hugely reassuring about my obsessive nature! The care and love she puts into her efforts (often going above and beyond what we had expected) was second to none, I truly believe she’s in the perfect vocation for her and anyone that is fortunate enough to have her working with them will surely agree! I couldn’t recommend her more, and am hugely grateful to her for a great day that we will cherish forever. You’re amazing Alex, thank you again from all of us xxxxx

Naming Ceremony | 03/16/2019 | Brighton

Alex helped us prepare for my son’s naming day far more than I had imagined possible. She connected with everyone we wanted involved in the service and guided and supported them in finding the rights words. And the end result was wonderful. It was such a beautiful and relaxed service that everyone present said was enjoyable. I got one comment that it was ‘very Brighton’ – I knew what this friend meant and totally agreed. This was exactly the atmosphere we were aiming for so it was perfect. Thanks Alex for all your hard work – as I told you in person I would be very happy to recommend you wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a celebrant for their special day.

“Just wanted to say thank you for what must have been one of your most intense marriage ceremonies! I pretty sure it will take some beating! It was absolutely brilliant! Exactly what we asked for, and that was a tall order! It was, by your own admission,  the most bonkers marriage service…ever !I hope you had a great time too, it’s a great festival anyway and this added to it hugely! I doubt anyone will forget it in a hurry! We certainly won’t, and will no doubt be celebrating our anniversary there for some time to come. Thank you again for a truly brilliant ceremony, the best day of our  life together so far! and the personally dedicated signed photo from Michael Palin himself.”
