Hi, I'm Mary

Thank you for looking at my Profile.

The joy of a Celebrant led ceremony is that you can have your ceremony wherever you wish, be it a woodland at sunrise with autumnal colours, a beach at sunset, or why not your own garden or one of our wonderful and mystical welsh castle’s celebrating our Celtic heritage? We can work together so that I understand what your hopes, dreams and aspirations are, we are all individuals and our wishes and dreams are unique to ourselves, which gives me the opportunity to create something magical, be it a traditional ceremony or something completely off the wall!

What were my reasons for becoming a celebrant after a career as a qualified nurse? I had attended a Celebrant led wedding, it was so relaxing and wonderful to listen to the couple share their vows, followed by their young daughter reading a poem she had written. In contrast, at my father’s funeral I was so disappointed that Dad’s personality wasn’t fully captured by the minister and from then my fate was sealed. I was further surprised and delighted when I realised that I could do so much more than weddings and funerals, but also renewal of vows and the delight of naming ceremonies to name but a few. To allow me to create a ceremony that captures your personalities, transcribes your history and allows me to be a part of those memories, is truly an honour.

I believe my nursing experience has enabled me to offer support when a person is experiencing profound grief and aid you in finding the right words, readings, hymns and poems to make a very sad occasion into a celebration of that loved one’s life. It has also given me the confidence to speak in public and to be like a swan when all hell breaks loose. I have been told that I have a warm and gentle voice but can be heard a mile off if need be.

I am a supporter of LGBTQ believing that as long as we lives our lives supporting and respecting each other’s beliefs and values in a non judgmental way, then we can’t go far wrong.

I will work towards capturing your thoughts and emotions and entwining them into your ceremony.

What's my ceremony style?

Wedding Ceremonies can provoke so many emotions of joy, laughter and tears (hopefully of happiness) Handfasting is a favourite of mine, as is jumping the broomstick.

Vow renewals are so very moving. You may have been together a year or 60 years and life has thrown you both some curved balls that have tested your relationship. This is an opportunity to look at each other, remember and celebrate how and why you fell in love.

Naming ceremonies can be challenging but great fun. I have so many ideas that will make the occasion special and memorable such as a Salt Ceremony or Time Capsule. It’s a time for the family to celebrate the name of their child, or if you are an adult and wish to celebrate your new name that matches the person you have always been inside and to celebrate you in style.

Perhaps marriage is not for you, but you still wish to hold a ceremony that expresses the love and commitment you have for each other. I will assist you in finding the right words, poem or song to make the day truly your own.

For a Funeral Service, I will work with you in encapsulating your loved one’s life and put that into a story from birth, highlighting the funny and sad times and the memorable moments, to celebrate their life in the best possible way, but still respecting their wishes in a dignified and compassionate way.

Memorial ceremonies give you, your family and friends an opportunity to say farewell and to celebrate the life of your loved one in a place that has special meaning or memory. A memorial service can be as intimate or outrageous as you wish because it is personal to yourself and more importantly, respects the wishes of your loved one.
