As an independent celebrant working around the North East, i specialise in personalised ceremonies unique to you from Northumberland to North Yorkshire.
I live in Peterlee, County Durham and will be happy to conduct ceremonies across the region.
I have attended professional training with The UK College of Celebrants.
After thirty years in the NHS as a Nurse, Health Visitor and Community Health Specialist.
I bring with me a wealth of experience of working within the public, private and voluntary sectors and most importantly – family.

What's my ceremony style?
I will work closely with you to ensure your ceremony reflects you, your beliefs and what is important to you.
I will support you through the process of finding the appropriate words, music and symbols that will reflect who you are and what you want to express.
I will help you structure the ceremony so it flows in a meaningful way to you.
I will do all that I can, to ensure your ceremony is calm and respectful and I will coordinate the contributions of other people.
I am flexible and can help you create a ceremony which is entirely personal to you or one which has some traditional elements.
Marking important times in our lives with a ceremony is a key part of our human experience.

The club where you first met, on the beach or in the garden.
Together we can explore the possibilities and I will support you to create the ceremony that reflects who you are as people and your commitment to each other.

Why choose Joanne D for your funeral?
Losing someone you love is difficult. I will work closely with you to create a ceremony that reflects respectfully on the life of the person who has passed away and gives a voice to those who mourn.
Together we will find the words, music and memories you feel will be most appropriate to be part of the ceremony.
Trying to say all that you wish within the time constraints of a Crematorium setting can be challenging. I am happy to explore alternatives with you.
These could be, but not limited to:
A more comprehensive eulogy and an opportunity for others to share their memories at the wake after the committal.
A memorial at a time after the funeral.
A memorial on a significant date after the funeral

Do Not Hesitate To Book Excellent Experience From Start To Finish!
Where do I even start? I believe Joanne may be the kindest person I have ever met. We consider ourselves truly lucky to have had her as our celebrant. From early planning to the final moments during our ceremony she was a calm, competent “rock” for us, guiding us through it all – even our baby daughter crying during the ceremony. I could not recommend her enough. Thank you so much, Joanne!

We hope that you also enjoyed the ceremony. We have had so many heartfelt compliments already about how lovely your aura/energy is and how comfortable all of the guests felt throughout. I feel you integrated and represented Nikhil’s culture and religion beautifully which was received so gratefully by all of us, including Nikhil’s family that attended virtually.
