My name is Catherine Kentridge and I am a professional celebrant. I create and conduct beautiful, elegant and fully customised wedding, vow renewal and civil partnership ceremonies, together with baby naming & family ceremonies, and memorial or celebration of life ceremonies, across the UK.
Because celebrant ceremonies do not have the restrictions of a church, synagogue or registry office, they can take place anytime, any place, anywhere and be based on a religious, non-religious, interfaith, spiritual or civil basis, containing the traditions, rituals, and customs you choose.
I speak French and Italian, besides English, and can create completely bilingual ceremonies in those languages. I am also happy to include words or greetings in the language of your choice (as long as they are transliterated and I get some help with pronunciation, if needed!). To give you an idea, over the years, I have united hundreds of couples and on request, have also included elements of Spanish, German, Czech, Russian, Hebrew, Cantonese, Portuguese, and Afrikaans into the ceremony.
Whether you choose a simple or elaborate ceremony, to celebrate happy new beginnings or the life of a loved one who has passed, I will work with you to create a beautiful, elegant ceremony that is full of feeling and warmth, something extremely personal to you and a memory to treasure for always.
For weddings, I have become one of the go-to celebrants for ceremonies that combine different personal beliefs, cultures, and traditions, and love to weave these different elements together into a harmonious and profoundly meaningful ceremony.
For funerals and memorial services, I spend time with the family and close friends, talking with them, and listening to stories about the deceased and learning about your loved one.
These conversations and the insights they give, provide much of the material for creating a meaningful, personal and respectful service which will be centred on their life. The funeral or celebration of life service, will honour the memory, give thanks for, and most importantly, give a true reflection, of your loved one’s life.
The ceremony can be traditional or contemporary, formal or relaxed, semi-religious or non-religious, to reflect your wishes and the wishes of the deceased.
I have a deep respect for and openness to different personal beliefs, cultures, and traditions and love to weave these different elements together into a harmonious and profoundly meaningful ceremony.
As a trained soprano, a professional storyteller and writer, and an experienced actor, I am able to use these skills to help put people at their ease (so I’m told…) and lead a ceremony that will be a lifetime memory for you.
Your wedding will be in the words and language(s) of your choice.
I will advise and support you, drawing on my extensive knowledge of these special ceremonies to make your wedding an occasion you will be thrilled to experience and always remember with happiness.
