Hi, my name is Sue Havenhand and I am a five star celebrant that will bring perfection to your ceremony by utilising my unique skill set of “on point” communication, empathy, writing and public speaking.
Whether you are planning your Wedding, wanting to celebrate life with a Funeral, welcoming someone new into your family through a Naming ceremony or hoping to Renew your Vows, I am here for you. We will meet face to face and I will listen to your story before I turn it into the written word, capturing your timeless moments and memories.
I am trained to a high standard with the International College of Professional Celebrants and carry Public Liability and Indemnity Insurance, so you don’t need to worry about a thing. I also hold the NOCN Level 3 Certificate in Civil Celebrancy in the UK.

What's my ceremony style?
My style is down to earth Yorkshire, as that is fundamentally what and who I am. In my life I have been a professional singer, newspaper columnist, and pub manager. This has given me exactly the right skill set to be the celebrant that I am. I can speak in public, I can write and I can deal with all types of people.
I am even happy to build in a song to your service, I have performed Ave Maria, without music, in a funeral before, it adds a personal touch.

What do I offer?
Weddings
I love love love working with mature couples, renewing their vows or getting married second time around. It’s never too late to get it right. I adore the more relaxed vibe of couples my own age ( 50 plus haha ) but that’s not to say I don’t love you young people too, I totally do.
I offer my couples three face to face meetings before the big day. The first, to have a general chat about their expectations and the kind of ceremony that they really want. After leaving them one of my questionnaires, a second meeting is to collect that and chat together in more detail about their ceremony. Then I start to write. When the final draft is done, we meet at the wedding venue for a short rehearsal and read through, so that we are all on the same page prior to the day. I want my couples to feel completely at ease so they can enjoy their day to the max.

I will combine my writing skills with my love of people and their experiences to write your wedding ceremony perfectly – a true reflection of your love story capturing your personalities, hopes and dreams. Together we will create a day to remember that really has the wow factor – and a day your guests will never forget. Remember, as yet we celebrants cannot perform legal marriages (although we hope and expect our day will come soon) but this is easily resolved by booking an inexpensive 2 + 2 appointment at your local registry office. Then you are free to enjoy simply the best ceremony, tailored to you both, with total freedom of choice regarding location and content.

There is nothing more joyous than welcoming a new life to the world. I will write a totally unique ceremony for your child so that you can celebrate with your nearest and dearest family and friends. The non-religious alternative to a Christening, think Life Guardians instead of God Parents, and once again, think freedom of choice regarding where and how.

Renewal of Vows
Couples renewing their vows, tend to be more mature – and they are my ideal couple!! I myself am in my mid 50’s and love love love working with couples my own age.

Did you have a traditional wedding? Were the words used standardised, dry even? Are you at a milestone wedding anniversary, or have you been through a life changing event? Then let me write what you really want to say to each other as you reaffirm your commitment and love for one another by renewing your vows. The ceremony will be totally unique to you and will form part of your day to remember. You can now have the celebration that you perhaps couldn’t afford the first time round, with the friends and family that are most dear to you right here, right now.
Funerals
I offer my families a face to face meeting where I will speak to you at length about many aspects of your loved one’s life. With that information I will create the perfect eulogy. You will have as much input as you need and I will help you choose readings, poems and music pieces if you wish. After the service, I will give you a printed copy of everything that was said as a keepsake. You can appoint me as your funeral celebrant by contacting me directly, or by asking your funeral director to do so. The choice is yours.

The Best Celebrant There Is
Sue was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we met Sue right until our wedding day, she was friendly, caring, professional, extremely knowledgable at what she does, funny and down to earth and we couldn’t recommend her enough. My partner and I were quite nervous and Sue talked us through every step of the way. She made great recommendations for the ceremony and made the entire process easy. On the day, Sue delivered a perfect ceremony with the tight mix of seriousness and laughter, and told our love story in the best way. Many of our guests said it was the best ceremony they have ever been to and we have passed on Sue’s details to those who asked for them. Thank you so much Sue for making our wedding day perfect! We wish we could do it all over again.

Josh & Katie’s Wedding
We chose Sue as the celebrant for our wedding after being unable to get a registrar for the date of our wedding, and we are so glad we did! From the very first meeting we had Sue kept in touch and kept us informed, always sending us drafts of our ceremony to make sure it was perfect. We had multiple meetings with Sue so she could get to know me and josh and really made our ceremony personal. She made sure that our ceremony ran smoothly and everything was organised. So much time and effort was put into our ceremony from Sue and this was made clear when it finally came down to the day and Sue conducted our ceremony. All our guests commented on how nice it was and how lovely Sue was as a person too.
It wasn’t our first plan to have a celebrant led ceremony, but it was so much better than having a registrar and we are so lucky we found Sue. Thank you so much! X
