Hi, I'm Sarah

Sarah Chapman – Professional Celebrant. Together we will create meaningful memories, which will bind you closer and give joy to all the special people on your special day. I have a Diploma in Celebrancy: Naming and Couples (QCF) and a Diploma in Funeral Celebrancy (QCF)

As a Celebrant I will help you create and then conduct your unique and individual Ceremony where ever and whenever you wish. All you need to do is choose the time, place, guests and style, and I will create vows, readings and words so that they are perfectly suited for you, your family and your friends. Your ceremony is unique to you and can include Candle, Flower, Sand Ceremonies, Hand Fasting, Jumping the Broom, Vows, Poems and Readings, your history and why your marriage and relationship is so important to you both.  I can also incorporate your ideas into the ceremony depending on your own beliefs and traditions.

As a Funeral Celebrant, my role is to offer bereaved families a funeral ceremony that reflects the wishes, beliefs and values of the deceased and their family. The ceremony will focus on celebrating and/or reflecting the life of the deceased and the tribute will be respectful and highly personal.

I also offer Celebration of Life ceremonies for individuals who want to be present, and indeed to be the centre of attention, at the last celebration of their lives. It is a time to honour and appreciate the living when they are near the end of their lives through age or illness. They want to enjoy their own funeral and the opportunity it gives them to see for the last time their friends, relatives, former colleagues, neighbours, team mates and those whose lives have touched theirs.

I will always offer a full copy of the text to the family, who may also check the content beforehand.

Whilst not a religious ceremony as such, religious content may be included, such as prayers or hymns.

What's my ceremony style?

I have performed ceremonies in Woodland by an Oak Tree and in woodland glades, on beaches with kayaks, on the top of cliffs, in hotels, gardens and couples front rooms. I offer a personal ceremony that bind families together including children, grandparents and friends making sure that, if required, everyone has a role to play. I have a special interest in Hand Fasting and Jumping the Broom but also love performing the Cocktail Ritual and I even offer a Chocolate Ritual!

Funeral Ceremonies can be performed at Natural Burial Grounds, Crematoriums, Cemeteries and even in Village Halls, Hotels or in your own homes.

Funeral | 11/26/2021 | Torbay Crematorium

Sarah captured the personality and spirit of our Dad perfectly and created a ceremony that reflected not only his personality but how my family, his friends and everyone who knew him all felt about him. She is warm, friendly, helpful, approachable and completely professional. I can’t recommend her highly enough and only wish I had employed her for my wedding!

Naming Ceremony | 09/01/2013 | Holmfirth Village Hall, Yorkshire

We were so pleased to have Sarah as the Celebrant for our son’s Naming Day.  Sarah was friendly and professional all the way through, helping us to understand the role of a celebrant, develop our plans for the Naming Day and gave us lots of useful ideas for us to work with.  We were able to make the day really personal and just as we wanted.Sarah was also our Knight in Shining Armour and saved the day when our helium balloons went flat on the morning of the ceremony.  Sarah rushed out to buy us some more, even though it was a Sunday, so that we could end the ceremony just as we planned.I couldn’t recommend Sarah highly enough as a Celebrant, she made our special day really special!”

Fabulous Send Off

Funeral | 08/03/2017 | Torquay Crematorium

We had never heard of a ‘celebrant’ until this occasion, and were so grateful that the funeral directors recommended Sarah. Sarah gave our mum a fabulous send-off, for which we are truly grateful. It was warm, sincere and full of our mum’s unique character. Mum would have loved it. Most people commented on how ‘lovely’ it was. We can’t thank Sarah enough, she was great.Yes, Sarah was sensitive and efficient
