I’m Deb a passionate wedding celebrant situated in Colchester, Essex.
Together we can create a bespoke ceremony with you and your family at the very heart. There are no rules or restrictions, the options really are limitless!
I can help you select readings, music and symbolic elements to reflect your personality and tell your story, resulting in a ceremony that is uniquely yours and one you and your guests will never forget!
I have a love of life, romance, and all things creative! My friends describe me as compassionate, fun, ambitious, a bit of a perfectionist and above all else super organised!
As a mum of 3 teenage children – I love to travel and have adventures with them and push myself beyond my comfort zone!

The ceremonies I write are filled with love, warmth and humour and delivered with confidence and enthusiasm.
I love to find out what makes you unique and especially like a theme to incorporate into my script.
I love to find creative ways to include your loved ones into your ceremony, be it your children, parents or friends.

What do I offer?
Weddings
I love to work with couples who like to think outside the box, and want a relaxed ceremony filled with love, warmth and humour.
I love to include love ones in creative ways and strive to create a ceremony that will leave lasting memories for you and your wedding party!
My package includes meeting either via zoom or in person. I can discuss ideas and give you suggestions for your big day to and support with readings, music and vows. I will then design a beautiful unique ceremony tailored to you as a couple. I can share the script with you and re-write until you feel it’s perfect or it can remain a surprise for you both on the day if you prefer!
On the day I’ll welcome guests and inform the wedding party of their responsibilities.
Then for the exciting part…when I get to deliver your bespoke ceremony! I’ll guide you through exactly what to do and when and you and your loved ones will be left with the most amazing memories of your special day.

Naming Ceremonies
Naming ceremonies are a fantastic way to welcome a new baby, an adopted child or step children into your family. They are also a perfect way to celebrate a new identity. Traditional religious ceremonies may not reflect your beliefs and values and so a naming ceremony allows us to create a bespoke celebration that expresses truly your family’s identity and culture. You will be able to involve friends or other family members in a ceremony that is truly unique to you and your family. Whatever your reason for wanting a naming ceremony, I’ll ensure it is a day filled with joy and love.
We will meet and I will get to know you and your family to find out exactly what you want your special naming day to include. I will provide guidance on choosing readings, poems, songs, and promises and can advise you on special symbolic elements you may want to include such a tree planting or sand ceremonies.
On the day I’ll give your guests instructions on what to do and what their responsibilities are. I will also speak to any “guide parents” or mentors you have designated for your child before the ceremony so they will know exactly what to do!
I will deliver your naming day ceremony with all of the special elements we have discussed. You’ll also receive a naming day certificate as a keepsake of your day.

With over 20 years of experience as a Primary school teacher, I have a wealth of experience of working with families and children. I can include creative elements to include your family members, making your naming ceremony fun and memorable for all involved.

Renewal of Vows
Are you celebrating a landmark birthday or anniversary? Perhaps you just want to remind each other of all the reasons you fell in love and reaffirm that love for each other. You may have family you want to include in your ceremony that weren’t there when you originally got married.
We will meet either via zoom or in person to chat and get to know each other. You can tell me about your hopes for your renewal ceremony. I can discuss ideas and give you suggestions of things to include support you with writing vows and selecting readings and symbolic elements if you wish.I will send you a couple’s questionnaire that will give me all the information I need to enable me to create your bespoke ceremony script. I will then design a beautifully unique ceremony tailored to you as a couple. I can share the script with you and re-write until you feel it’s perfect or it can remain a surprise for you both on the day if you prefer!

On the day I will deliver your bespoke ceremony! I’ll guide you through exactly what to do and when and you and your loved ones will be left with the most amazing memories of your special day.
You will be presented with a personalised Renewal of Vows Ceremony Certificate to celebrate this special occasion.
Funerals
When you have lost a loved one, deciding who will speak those final words as you say goodbye is such a huge choice to make. You want to make sure they will be the right words that sum up your special person and capture the very essence of them.
When you put your trust in me as your celebrant, my commitment will be beyond just officiating a ceremony.
I will listen, learn and honour all that is unique about your loved one and their life lived.
We will share conversations, remember the funny moments, talk out about their quirks, hobbies, interests and passions and together we will weave that into a script that captures and celebrates them perfectly.
I take great pride in crafting unique ceremonies that celebrate life and provide a sense of closure. Whether you prefer a traditional funeral service, a non-religious ceremony, or something more alternative, I am here to accommodate your wishes.
During the planning process, I’ll meet with you as many times as required and take the time to learn about the life of your loved one – their passions, accomplishments, and the relationships they cherished. This knowledge allows me to weave together a heartfelt tribute that truly reflects the individual they were.
I will support you with choosing readings, music, poetry and any other creative elements.
I can write the eulogy or support you or family members with eulogy writing.
I will work with your funeral director and other suppliers.

The most beautiful and fitting tribute for my Dad
Deb is a wonderful celebrant. She is kind, understanding, creative and up for anything! When we asked her if she’d be willing to host a ceremony on a meadow, before traipsing round a farm, we thought we’d surely be met with confusion and perhaps a no.
How wrong we were! Deb took our quirky brief and ran with it. Writing beautiful words about my dad before donning her wellingtons and fulfilling our every wish.
The result? The most beautiful and fitting tribute for my Dad and the comfort to us in knowing he’s resting on the land he loved and worked on all his life.
Fantastic Celebrant
We had the pleasure of having Deb as the celebrant for our daughters recent naming ceremony. Deb was a professional, friendly and responsive throughout the preparations and had many creative suggestions which helped shape the ceremony. We wouldn’t have wanted anyone else
Deb was celebrant for my mums funeral. She was very compassionate & professional. She came to our house making notes while we talked about mums life through emotions, but Deb didn’t rush us. She sat & listened & compiled a beautiful reading within days & let us read through it & adjust anything right up to a day before the service. We wouldn’t have wanted anyone else leading mums funeral service.
