Hi, I'm Mel
I originally trained and worked as a Registrar with Cambridge County Council. In 2022, feeling constrained by the structure of ‘legal’ weddings I decided to train to become an independent celebrant. Thus, being able offer a more personal service.
I love to meet new people and start my preparation for every event by finding out everything that make my couple tick – their personalities, cultural backgrounds, interests, and beliefs – I then take inspiration from their chosen venue and the time of year, to create a unique, bespoke and memorable ceremony.
I previously worked as a primary school teacher for 5 years: with a passion for English, art and drama.
I live in Cambridge, with my husband, daughter and 3 cats.
When I am not creating magic for my couples and families I enjoy yoga, walking or reading a good crime novel.
What's my ceremony style?
My ceremony style comes from my love of nature and Gaia (mother Earth). I appreciate and understand the natural energy that radiates deep from within the earth that grounds us all. My ceremonies are of course designed around you and your journey and wherever possible I try to weave in simple symbolic gestures. I like to include the use of a simple smudging ritual at the start of each ceremony – ensuring that the space surrounding my couple and their guests is positively charged. I find the use of crystals placed within the ceremony area helps to channel positive energy from both the couple and the guests. I also try to include the four elements within the ceremony – Fire, Air, Water and Earth. This adds a sense of balance and harmony to the proceedings.

I am always willing to go that extra mile (with a smile in my heart and on my face) to give my couples the ceremony of their dreams.

Weddings
Bringing you the divine
Offering couples the chance to have a ceremony that is exactly what THEY want it to be and to tear up the preconceived ideas about what a wedding should ‘look like’. My couples share their story and create a ceremony that describes them and their love – whether it be something based on a combination of traditional weddings or something totally off-the-wall and quirky, those are my kind of people. I love to create ceremonies with a cultural “fusion”, blending faiths, traditions and new ideas with spiritual elements.
I offer a free, 45 minute, consultation meeting to discuss your requirements and get so we can get to know each other. From there, I will guide you through the whole process, working with you (getting to know you) so that by the time your special day arrives, we are not strangers but friends. All ceremonies include a full ceremony, a symbolic action, a certificate, a souvenir script and more!
I also offer couples commitment ceremonies – for those wishing to affirm their relationship in the presence of friends and loved ones.
NB ceremonies being undertaken in Ibiza – £950 cost includes a maximum of £250 travel/accommodation costs. Anything over £250 will be chargeable to the client.

That way, I can truly create magic on your celebration day.
Naming Ceremonies
I work with families of babies and small children, right through to those that have older children. I also offer bespoke ceremonies for adults that may wish to re-name after undergoing a period of transition.
I see naming ceremonies as a way to share and spread the love that a family unit has for each other and help to radiate that joy out into the world. I also, feel passionately about all persons being accepted, which I why I am a big advocate of re-naming ceremonies for those that may have had a long and sometimes difficult journey discover who they truly are. There are many reasons that may resonate with you.

Why choose Mel for your naming ceremony?
We all fall in love (and sometimes temporarily out of love!) with our children and I would love the opportunity to work with you to share that love with those that are special to you and your child. Years of working as a primary school teacher gives me a natural skill in drawing out the best in all children (and their significant adults!).
I also strongly believe that LGBTQ+ community should have the opportunity to embrace their identity with a re-naming ceremony. This is a time to share in a new identity with those that care.

Renewal of Vows
It may that you are wishing to mark a special anniversary or milestone in the presence of those persons that are special to you. Maybe you are wanting to renew your vows to show that you are still strong after a period of adversity. Perhaps you just didn’t get to have the wedding ceremony of your dreams the first time (or maybe your ideals have changed). Renewing your vows is a perfect way to recreate the magic in the way that you want. Perhaps you were married abroad and simply could not invite all of the guests that you wanted to share in your special day! A renewal of vows is a perfect way to involve your children, your grandchildren, your stepchildren in your ceremony – share the love. xxx
