Hi! I am a vibrant and creative Celebrant & Solemniser of Marriage based here on the Wild Atlantic Way of the West Coast of Ireland. I perform both Legal and non-legal Wedding Ceremonies, Vow Renewals, Naming Ceremonies & Milestone Ceremonies and I am a proud supporter of the LGBTQI+ community. The day that Ireland became the first country in the world to legalise Same-Sex marriage by popular vote made me so proud of my little country.
I so love the process of crafting a fully bespoke and unique ceremony for a couple or family and look at it as a true privilege to be part of.
While I am happy to travel for your ceremony I do live in an utterly breath taking part of the world so if you are looking for a destination wedding with romance, mythology and stunningly beautiful photo opportunities I am your woman. What's my ceremony style?
My style is fun and vibrant and I love nothing more than when a couple or family come to me with a request to make their ceremony unique, meaningful and truly memorable. My mission is to create a unique and bespoke ceremony that truly reflects your personality. I don’t do generic or template ceremonies and I pride myself in the fact that no two of my ceremonies are ever the same! I love bringing in spiritual elements to a ceremony or elements from a persons culture or heritage. To me being in ceremony with people no matter whether a small intimate affair or a large gathering is very much about remembering who we are, honouring those who have gone before us and carrying the light for the generations to come.

One of my favourite moments was when a very special couple requested a healing fire ceremony before their vow renewal. They wanted to release all that no longer served them both individually and as a couple. It was such a powerful ceremony for me to hold space for and I will be eternally grateful to them for trusting me with such a profound moment. I believe in the importance of really listening to a couple or family, listening to their hopes and dreams for their ceremony and helping to make it happen. From the moment we first make that initial connection right up to the ‘Big Day’, I am with you every step of the way. I love having that little ‘something different’ in a ceremony, something that makes it truly memorable and personal to those involved. So whether it’s a cleansing fire ceremony or a cacao ceremony or a Community Vow to name but a few…I know we can come up with lots more ideas!

It is difficult to say what my ideal couple is as I have worked with so many different people from all walks of life and to me all couples are unique and special and deserve to have their thoughts and hopes listened to. I love the couple who know exactly what they want just as much as I love the couple who are utterly clueless! I particularly enjoy helping my LGBTQI+ couples bring their wedding day vision to life and I am forever proud of my little country for embracing same sex marriage.
From the moment you make contact with me and we embark on this journey together you have my full attention…we are in this together! I so love the process of crafting a bespoke ceremony, choosing the poems and readings, writing the love story, helping the couple with their vows; each step is a privilege for me to be part of.
I offer my couples a professional and heart led service where I accompany them on every step of their ceremony journey. From the moment we connect to the day of the ‘I Do’ I am available with ideas, inspiration, calming words, creativity and an impressive collection of love quotes and poetry! I love nothing more than diving in to my books to find the perfect words for the perfect moment in our couples ceremony. Some of my favourite enhancements are Hand Fasting, Sand Ceremony, Ring Warming and the Unity Candle but my absolute favourite is something I am proud to have created myself…Cacao Ceremony. I would love to tell you more!

In the months leading up to your Big Day I will be there for you every step of the way, whether it’s reassuring words that are needed or some deep breathing exercises (I’m a trained Yoga teacher!) or a little inspiration from my vast collection of love quotes and poetry; I’ve got you.
I promise your ceremony will be a true reflection of your personality, I don’t do generic ceremonies. Every ceremony I write is unique and bespoke for you.

Renewal of Vows
Maybe its been one year or maybe it has been 10 years since you first said ‘I do’ but the love is stronger than ever and you want to celebrate this! What better way to do that than with a Vow Renewal Ceremony. It might be a small intimate ceremony where its just the two of you or it might be a chance to invite all your friends and family and have a mega party! Whatever way you want to do it I have lots of ideas to make it memorable and meaningful.
No matter what type of ceremony I perform my commitment to listening to your needs is the same. It is so important to me that you feel heard, that your hopes and desires have been considered and that this ceremony is bespoke and unique to you and not just a generic scripted ceremony. Celtic Hand Tying also known as Hand Fasting is an ancient tradition in matrimony and where we get the term ‘tying the knot.’ It is a lovely part of both the Wedding Ceremony and Vow Renewal where the couple may use different coloured ribbons to symbolise their marriage; red for passion, green for growth, gold for prosperity. As part of our planning together I can suggest some other beautiful ceremony enhancements available such as Sand Ceremony, tree planting, broom jumping, wine box ceremony etc. I am also very excited to tell you more about a unique Cacao Ceremony which I offer to couples.

Why choose Fiona for your renewal of vows?
When a couple choose to renew their vows they might choose to do things quite differently to their actual wedding day. They might now have children and wish to include them in the ceremony in a very meaningful way. Many couples opt for a more intimate and informal gathering and love that they have the freedom to do things their way. I love working with couples who have done the big wedding and now really want something small and intimate to focus on their love and commitment to each other. I promise to bring you a truly unique and meaningful Vow Renewal Ceremony that will beautifully affirm your commitment to each other all over again!

Fiona Whelton has made our Wedding day even more special. She walked us through the steps of the ceremony days before the date and that was quite useful due to our busy schedule at that time. She has also given us some great and meaningful ideas for the occasion and it really worked beautifully. The Wedding Celebration is still the moment we most cherish. All the rituals and symbols transformed a significant time for us into a noteworthy experience for our guests and family. We would absolutely recommend her services to any of you that are considering tying the knots.
A Fabulous Celebrant!
We cannot thank Fiona enough for the joyful, moving, personal and inclusive ceremony she created for us. She put so much thought, creativity and care into the text and the tone – it was like she knew us for decades, in fact many of our guests presumed she was a close friend! She wove our ‘love story’ from two separate emails we sent her, and it was perfect. There was joy, laughter and few tears.
As a queer couple, we felt we were in incredibly safe hands. Fiona ensured that the all-important May 2015 result was acknowledged, which we were delighted about as many of our guests (and ourselves!) were very active campaigners.
It was a fabulous ceremony – lighthearted yet profound – and gave our guests an opportunity to show us their love, collectively, tearfully and exuberantly.
Fiona was the PERFECT celebrant for us – and I we weren’t at all surprised to see a few engaged couples who were attending making a beeline to book her.
We can’t thank her enough for making the Big Day, the very best day!
Vow Renewal at Cliffs of Moher
Couldn’t have asked for a better celebrant! Wife and I had a vow renewal on our 7th anniversary. Fiona was extremely helpful as we are from the US. She had tips for local vendors and made our day easy to plan. She contoured our ceremony to be exactly what we needed.
