Hi, I'm Hannah

Key moments in our lives deserve to be celebrated; so it is a real privilege for me to be able to help people do just that, in whatever way they wish.

I work very closely with all my clients to create something truly personal, and to ensure both the planning, and the event itself, are as rewarding and stress-free as possible. Plus, with a background in the arts and event management, I can also advise on the choreography and staging of the ceremony too. Can everyone see us? Can everyone hear us? Where’s the best place for us to enter and exit from? That kind of thing…

My job is an opportunity to be creative, and challenge expectations, which I absolutely love. So, if you’re looking for a vintage wedding in the depths of a wood, or wish to mark the end of someone’s life with a special cliff-top ceremony, for example, then I’m your woman!

I am equally happy delivering a wedding ceremony at a stately home or at the local village hall too, of course. Or, maybe you would like to have a simple and intimate naming ceremony in your own back garden. Or, possibly you’re looking for a funeral celebrant to help with a service at your local crematorium, or wish to have a private service at home.

I have delivered all kinds of events over the years and in all kinds of places. That’s what makes it so rewarding and enjoyable. Flexibility is my middle name. (Actually, it’s Estelle, but you get my point!)

I’m available through London & the South, including East & West Sussex, Surrey, Kent, Berkshire, Hampshire, Dorset, Devon, Wiltshire, Somerset and beyond…

What's my ceremony style?

I start the beginning of each planning stage with a ‘blank canvas’. Wherever the venue, and whatever the occasion, my focus is always on creating something truly authentic to both the people, and the places, that each ceremony serves to celebrate.

Being a fan of the great outdoors I especially enjoy any opportunity to get back to nature, and am incredibly fond of any farm, field, woodland or garden ceremonies – whether they be for weddings, vow renewals, naming ceremonies or funerals.

My favourite kind of weddings could probably be described as those with stylish simplicity. I’m definitely into vintage chic, eco glamour and laid-back luxe. If there’s an element of ‘homespun and handmade with LOVE’, then I’m a massive fan.

If I am helping a family to mark the end of someone’s life then the approach will be guided by both the circumstances and the wish of the family. Ultimately I see myself as a teller of stories and always try and find the best way of commemorating the individual in a way that befits them.

To quote Oprah Winfrey (…well, why not?!!): The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate. Celebrating gives us a time to reflect, to reconnect, and to make new memories, and there are no rules on how we do that, which is what I probably love most!

Why choose Hannah?

Becoming a celebrant has been the best decision I’ve made, and I am so happy and grateful to be doing what I do, and I’ve met a lot of FABULOUS individuals along the way – people just like YOU!

It combines most of my great passions – meeting new people, visiting new places, organising events, creative writing and cats – okay well, not so much the cats (but if anyone would like to involve their cat in one of their ceremonies I’d be delighted!)

I’m told I’m a calming force – always a good thing whatever the occasion – warm, approachable, thorough and organised. I also pride myself on being empathetic, reliable, and a good listener.

This job is a real privilege and I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to meet wonderful people, and share in their deepest joy with them, and of course sometimes their deepest grief, as well.

Finding fresh approaches is one of the things that drives me, and with a long history of working as a project manager and producer within the creative and cultural industries, I am used to problem solving and thinking on my feet.

If you’re a same-sex, interracial, multi-cultural or multi-faith couple looking for a celebrant then please know that you’ve come to exactly the right place. The ‘House of Hannah’ is a house of absolute love, acceptance and support for everyone, everywhere.

We are so thankful to Hannah for beautifully hosting our Mum’s funeral. She spoke with with such compassion and every guest commented how it was as if she new our Mum. Hannah really took the time to get to know us and our Mum, and made sure she spoke about every detail of her life. A lovely, Kind person, would highly recommend!

Wedding | 07/26/2019 | House on the Brooks, Pulborough

Hannah made our ceremony everything that we wanted and so much more! Throughout the whole process, from preparing our ceremony through to the day, she made it feel easy and stress free. Hannah drew out information from my husband and I without being overly formal or pressuring us. She tailored the ceremony to us brilliantly, bringing humour, lightheartedness, warmth and genuine care to the occasion. She provided us with a beautiful selection of readings to look through at our leisure when we were not sure of what we wanted and made the run-through the day before a genuinely enjoyable experience in a day that was filled with last minute rushing and stresses. Her love of animals and our cat’s reaction to her when she came to visit initially was also wonderful! We could not recommend Hannah highly enough!

Funeral | 05/06/2020 | Worthing

My father died of old age during the Covid 19 restrictions. This was the second family death is as many months and I was desperately trying to find a meaningful way for us to honour him, given that some of our family were in vulnerable groups unable to attend…..and then Hannah came along. She guided and supported me, not only listening to what I wanted to include but also listening to what I wasn’t saying. Together we put together something very special. Yes, there were tears on the day but we all went home smiling, with a great sense of comfort, and this was entirely down to Hannah.
