Hi, I'm Kathryn
I will organize, design and conduct your special ceremony, created with you to suit your personal choices needs whether it be a Wedding, Vow Renewal, Commitment, baby naming or welcome ceremony, I endeavour to produce a truly unique and personalized experience by bringing to fruition your preferences, including cultural and traditional symbolic rituals, combining old with new, ancient with modern or blending cultures to produce a bespoke, memorable and enriching occasion, accomplished with taste, ease and elegance. It is a priority for me to ensure that all present on the day are part of the ceremony. I am happy to explore with my client, all elements that they may wish to include in the ceremony.
What's my ceremony style?
I come from the world of the performing arts and I have been an established solo performer in Opera, Concert & Musicals for many years, both internationally and in Ireland. The fact that I am no stranger to the stage, presenting and occasion, is a great asset for me and enables me to conduct and perform the ceremonies with ease. Therefore if there are unusual enhancements or rituals required, that is right in my comfort zone and I can execute them accordingly. As a Singer I have performed at all types of weddings, religious, non religious, secular, spiritual and many blended cultural ceremonies both in Ireland and abroad and I have gathered many ideas and experienced beautiful traditions on my journey.
Baby Naming Ceremony
My favourite moment was a baby naming ceremony, we chose a flower ceremony and a tree planting ceremony and all members of the family were involved. It was very special on a beautiful Summer day in the garden of the family.
Why choose Kathryn?
I enjoy putting a ceremony together with my clients and constructing a story that is personal to them, making sure that I give a true and genuine account of their journey . I pay particular attention to the desires and wishes of the client and I believe understanding the personalities is extremely important and I am thorough with my consultations. I believe it is very important to be aware of family dynamics surrounding the ceremony, in order to have all present happy & immersed in the celebrations on the day.
What do I offer?
I live in Kildare and I am happy to travel the country as I have done in my career as a singer. I have performed as a celebrant in France also. I love my job as an officiant, it is most rewarding and the highlight of the wedding ceremony is being in the centre of the couple’s story as they dedicate and commit to each other with their loved ones present to witness it. All couples are so different and have come from many different walks of life. Some have struggled with adversity but they prove the strength of their bond against all odds by commitment. The emotion on the day can be electric and I like everyone to experience it through our ceremony. The correct use of words is very important and must be pertinent to the particular couple.
I offer an initial complimentary online consultation and after being engaged I give further detailed face to face consultation, if desired or other if this is not possible. I then produce a detailed draft for the client. I can furnish examples of readings, poetry and advice on music choices. I can help couples write their own vows and explore ceremony enhancements. I can supply tables and decoration for the ceremony along with a PA system if needed. I work directly with the venue to ensure all is perfect on the day and I hold a full rehearsal for the wedding party at a convenient date. I guarantee to guide my clients through every step of the ceremony.
Why choose Kathryn for your wedding?
I have vast experience in presenting and occasion and I am very thorough with my ceremony preparation. I will supply a detailed order of ceremony for approval well before the date and a shorter booklet form if required for guests. I believe I have an ability to put people at ease and usually my Clients are relaxed and in a position to enjoy their day without concern.
Whether you are naming a new member of your family or welcoming an adopted or fostered child, a naming or welcoming ceremony is a really beautiful celebration. After consulting with you I will write your perfect ceremony taking into account all your wishes. I will help you write your promises to your child or the promises of your child’s guardians or grandparents. I will help you choose ceremony rituals such as flower ritual or tree planting ritual, readings, poetry or music. Above I will guide you and your guests through every moment of the even to ensure that your are relaxed and you enjoy everything with the greatest of ease.
Why choose Kathryn for your naming ceremony?
I particularly enjoy this type of ceremony. I like to highlight the child’s name and its meaning and interpret and the ceremony around him/her. I believe in the case of a welcoming ceremony, this can impact the child in a very positive way, giving an enormous sense of belonging, as often the adopted or fostered child is not an infant. These ceremonies really enhance the family dynamic and can be extremely memorable. I believe in encouraging family participation, other siblings or indeed I like all present to be a part of the special occasion.

We were married in June 2019 at Chateau Cassan Southern France. We were drawn to Kathryn at a friend’s wedding in Italy when she was singing for the ceremony. We found her to be a lovely person and a fine performer. When we discovered she was a Celebrant and French speaking, we immediately engaged to officiate for us. Elodie being French, wanted to include a few local traditions which Kathryn carried out with flair elegance while translating for all present, which was a great help. A true professional. We are hoping to have our vow renewal in Ireland next year and we will definitely be calling on you. A Bientot

We were to be married Oct 10th but unfortunately we have to postpone the wedding due to Covid restrictions. We had our first consultation with Kathryn Smith in April and she produced an incredibly detailed ceremony draft which was beautifully presented and exactly to our requirements. She made some great music recommendations which is important to us and the readings and poems really suit our taste. We were keen to make our own vows and with Kathryn’s help, we are delighted with the result. Our only disappointment is that we have to wait until next year!! Many thanks to date Kathryn.
I was recommended to Kathryn Smith through a friend of mine who had been at a wedding that Kathryn officiated at in Dublin. The daunting task of finding a Celebrant was left up to me as my son and his wife live in Dubai and the wedding was my gift to them. There are so many Celebrants in the UK but having no experience of any I was happy to bring Kathryn from Ireland on recommendation, I am Irish so I was very comfortable with the decision. After the initial consultation I knew I did the right thing, she is so pleasant and understanding in her approach. We found her to be very professional and the entire congregation felt very much included, it being a multi-cultural wedding, there were certain requests all carried out beautifully by Kathryn. Thank you very much Kathryn. Lynda Bates Lynch,
