Hi, I'm Kay
Originating from the West Country, moving to Bristol to do my nurse training was the beginning of the adventure of becoming a Celebrant.
My nursing career evolved as a Transplant Coordinator in a local Bristol hospital. I had found my nursing niche!
Excellent communication with patients their friends and families over 45 years of nursing, was an important part of my role, as was presenting at conferences. Although kindness, empathy, sympathy, understanding, listening and comforting were all needed, this work was challenging but rewarding. The opportunity to meet so many brave people was very humbling and a real honour.
I have now taken these skills into the world of Celebrancy…..and I love it!
Qualifying with UKSOC in 2020 was precious to me – an opportunity to continue working with people in a rewarding manner. Big thanks for all appreciative comments and reviews received to date. An honour and privilege!
What's my ceremony style?
Hearing stories of people’s lives that have brought them to NOW, is a true privilege. Threading these into a ceremony is an absolute honour that will be created with care and sensitivity. Previous life roles and experience will help me be able to offer a special, personalised ceremony.
Together we can create and develop a unique, tailored, bespoke ceremony that is exactly right for yourselves, the occasion and the people involved. We can devise a ceremony that is perfect in every way, reflecting the involved character/s lives, hopes, dreams and experiences. …. And we can have fun or contemplative, informal or formal, serious or light hearted….it’s your call!
Everyone loves a good story – so let’s tell it together in a way that can be uplifting without losing respect if a funeral, or in a light-hearted way if a family celebration – however you wish it to be.

Why choose Kay?
Experience and skills acquired from previous life roles, will help me be able to offer a personalised ceremony that will be just the ticket.
When called for and appropiate, a good sense of humour allows situations to be so much more personal and shared… I can do that! Alternatively – sensitivity, empathy, sympathy are also elements that can be required for ceremonies too. I can do that too!
In short, I find creating and delivering a unique, bespoke ceremony, for whatever occasion, very fulfilling, rewarding and a real honour and privilege (cheesy I know, but so true).
What do I offer?
Weddings
Favourite couples are those who are up for a relaxed, fun occasion that is personal and special to them…. and loving every minute of their day. An informal, (woodland/field/beach) wedding ceremony where laughs aplenty are enjoyed by all and family and friends are involved in the ceremony and the day. I alos love a handfasting – creating a cord or band of significant colours or fabric and the words to be said…. such a lovely element for a ceremony.
I am willing to travel to most areas in the West Country to deliver a ceremony, whilst listening, laughing, creating ideas for the format, poems, readings or music, not taking myself too seriously, going along with your ideas, however wacky… Anything is possible and achievable. To make the ceremony part of your day truly yours and memorable for you both is the only aim .

I am a funeral celebrant and work with all denominations. Whatever you wish for the funeral ceremony, can be created together to reflect the deceased persons life.

During previous nursing experience, caring for many patients who became deceased organ donors, and supporting their suddenly bereaved families and loved ones at this time was a vital part of the role, and it was an honour and privilege to be a part of this.
Skills of kindness, empathy, sympathy, understanding, listening and comforting were all needed at these times. This work was challenging and the opportunity to meet so many different people was very humbling.
These elements from my previous work help in my role as a celebrant to create the ceremony that is right for the person and their family- with sensitive and thoughtful input and ideas.

Our special day
Kay was a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process of our wedding. We would recommend Kay to anyone and everyone! She was the most brilliant, warm, funny and engaging celebrant. The ceremony itself was everything we dreamed it could be, and she made the process of creating it incredibly stress free, fun and meaningful. From early planning, she took the time to get to know us and learn about our story before trying to create a ceremony. This obviously meant that what was delivered was exceptionally personal. Everyone kept telling us how brilliant Kay was at the wedding and we couldn’t have agreed more. We felt very lucky to have her leading the way and setting the tone for what was the most joyful and love filled day! Thank You Kay!

Words can’t even begin to describe how special Kay made our wedding day! She took so much time to really get to know mine and my husbands relationship, curating the most beautiful and special ceremony, so bespoke to us as a couple. She put us at ease and supported us throughout, I could not recommend Kay enough!
