Hi, I'm Lorraine

I live in Liverpool and I am most often asked to conduct ceremonies in the North-West of England and North Wales, but I am more than happy to travel anywhere, within the U.K. or overseas.

I have been conducting ceremonies since 2002. That doesn’t mean I think that I’ve seen and heard it all – far from it! – but it does mean that I have a great deal of experience and expertise, have built a solid reputation and I am proud to have have won a number of industry awards, after being nominated by people that I had created ceremonies for.

I have extensive experience in creating and conducting personalised life event celebrations for Weddings, Civil Partnerships, Commitments, Handfastings, Renewal and Reaffirmation of Vows, Namings, ‘Welcome to the Family’, Thanksgivings, Celebrations of Life, and Memorial ceremonies.

Whatever the occasion, I will work, with and for you, to craft your perfect ceremony. I am as ‘hands on’ or ‘hands off’, as you prefer, with advice and suggestions. If you have no idea where to start, that is fine! I will help and support you, and together we will design a personal and memorable ceremony. If you know exactly what you want, of course, that is also absolutely fine. There are no ‘can’t haves’ or ‘must haves’, together, we will make your ‘dream ceremony’ a reality.

PS: I will always reply promptly to your enquiry; if there is nothing in your Inbox within 24 hours please check your Spam/Junk as sometimes my emails end up in there…

What's my ceremony style?

I create and conduct ceremonies for all of life’s important moments: from the first hello to the final farewell.

I love when my couples and families share their stories, achievements, hurdles, hopes and dreams with me. The more you tell me, the more it helps me to personalise your ceremony (but, of course, you don’t have to tell me anything that you don’t want to. I’m here to help you – not to interrogate you!)

I love animals, especially dogs. Our Sprollie (Springer Spaniel/Border Collie), Pip, came to our wedding and there aren’t many things that make me smile more than a ceremony with a dog (except maybe a ceremony with two dogs?)

But don’t worry, while your canine friends will be made to feel very welcome – they aren’t compulsory! Dog-free ceremonies are also wonderful.

Please call, or email, me to check my availability, ask any questions, or to discuss the ceremony that you are planning.

To help you decide, if I am the right Celebrant for you, I offer to provisionally hold a date for up to two weeks, without any fee or obligation. During that period, I will always do my best to meet, or at least speak, with you prior to you confirming the booking with a deposit.

Why choose Lorraine?

You may well notice that there is a lot of laughter in the photos of my wedding and naming ceremonies, and laughter is often mentioned in the testimonials and reviews that couples and families have written. Again, (like four-legged friends) laughter isn’t compulsory, but I do seem to attract a lot of fun-loving people who want their personality to be reflected within their ceremony and that often involves humorous anecdotes, readings, or random funny comments from the couple or their guests – there are almost always tears of pure joy too (but there are less photos of those moments)

I love what I do…

I think that all Celebrants would say the same. We feel extremely privileged to be part of the celebrations of life’s special moments. Along with the privilege, comes great responsibility – I take both very seriously.

You can be confident that I will do everything, that I can, to ensure that your ceremony goes exactly how you want it to be – I promise that your ceremony will be in safe hands.

I strongly believe that all people should all be treated kindly, fairly and with respect. We are all unique and we all matter. I advocate kindness, fairness, respect and equality for all through everything that I say and do: Love is Love, Family is Family, Life is Life. I am proud to be recommended by LGBTQ Equality Weddings and delighted to be part of their community of suppliers.

I am a member of The Celebrants Collective and I am committed to supporting other celebrants and continuing my own professional development, I have adopted The Funeral Celebrancy Council’s ‘Celebrant Accord’ and I hold Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance.

In addition to my Celebrancy qualifications I am a member of Humanists U.K. and have studied public speaking, creative writing and journalism.

I love drinking tea – preferably with cake, company and a chat. But gallons of tea (and a fair bit of cake) also help fuel my creativity when I am alone, in my home office (or a pleasant cafe), researching, planning and preparing your ceremonies.

Oh, and did I mention that I love my job?

Welcome to my profile: I will start by saying how much I LOVE MY JOB.

I love hearing, writing and telling love and life stories.

I am a friendly, smiley, approachable, patient, passionate, compassionate and caring ‘people’ person.

I pride myself on my professionalism, listening and writing skills, attention to detail, punctuality, dependability, and being fully prepared but I am flexible, resourceful and more than capable of thinking on my feet – all with a reassuring demeanour and a good sense of humour (this feels a bit like an online dating profile, rather than a celebrant directory listing!)

If you are reading this to help your decision on whether to book Lorraine or not then I can assure you – 100% that doing so will be the best decision you make in all your wedding plans. To be quite blunt she not only gave us the most perfect wedding imaginable she also managed to pull it together in 48 Hours after our church closed due to Covid 19! The service she provided was so personal you’d of thought Lorraine knew us our whole lives. People genuinley enjoyed being at our wedding, Lorraine made everyone laugh, she made everyone cry (in a good way ofcourse!) and ultimately made everyone (especially me and my now wife!) smile. The build up to our wedding and the stress we were under due to the covid situation I would never wish on anyone but from the moment I confirmed Lorraine to literally 48 hours later standing infront of her getting wed, I didn’t need to worry about anything. For this I cannot thank her enough, she knows this as I have told her thanks 100 times! Honestly the best wedding gift to yourself will be booking Lorraine! Cheers Lorraine and good luck for the future! Ste
