Hi, I'm Lorraine

I am accredited by Humanists UK and have extensive experience in creating and conducting personalised non-religious life event celebrations for Weddings, Civil Partnerships, Commitments, Handtyings, Renewal and Reaffirmation of Vows, Namings, ‘Welcome to the Family’, Thanksgivings, Funeral/Celebrations of Life, and Memorial ceremonies.

I live in Liverpool and I am most often asked to conduct ceremonies in the North-West of England and North Wales, but I am more than happy to travel anywhere, within the U.K. or overseas.

I have been conducting ceremonies since 2002.

That doesn’t mean I think that I’ve seen and heard it all – far from it! – but it does mean that I have a great deal of experience and expertise, have built a solid reputation and I am proud to have have won a number of industry awards, after being nominated by people that I had created ceremonies for.

What's my ceremony style?

I will start by saying how much I LOVE MY JOB.

I love hearing, writing and telling love and life stories. I am a friendly, smiley, approachable, patient, passionate, compassionate and caring ‘people’ person.

I pride myself on my professionalism, listening and writing skills, attention to detail, punctuality, dependability, and being fully prepared but I am flexible, resourceful and more than capable of thinking on my feet – all with a reassuring demeanour and a good sense of humour (this feels a bit like an online dating profile, rather than a celebrant directory listing!)

I love animals, especially dogs.

Our Sprollie (Springer Spaniel/Border Collie), Pip, came to our wedding and there aren’t many things that make me smile more than a ceremony with a dog (except maybe a ceremony with two dogs?)

But don’t worry, while your canine (or other animal) friends will be made to feel very welcome – they aren’t mandatory!

Weddings

I help couples who care about their ceremony and who don’t want it to be generic and impersonal. I create and conduct perfectly bespoke non-religious Wedding and Civil Partnership ceremonies for couples who definitely don’t want themselves (or their guests) to be bored!

If your ceremony is as important to you as the commitment that you are making to each other, why would you settle for one that is ‘off the shelf’ or ordinary, when you can have one that is exclusive and extraordinary?

I strongly believe that all people should all be treated kindly, fairly and with respect.

We are all unique and we all matter.

I advocate kindness, fairness, respect and equality for all through everything that I say and do: Love is Love, Family is Family, Life is Life.

I am proud to be recommended by LGBTQ Equality Weddings and delighted to be part of their community of suppliers.

Your ceremony can still follow a traditional format, if that is what you want, but it won’t be using the ‘same-old’ conveyor-belt script used for hundreds of thousands of other couples – and it definitely won’t be boring!

Your ceremony will be tailored for you and filled with unique, meaningful moments that you and your guests will always remember as: the best Wedding or Civil Partnership Ceremony that anyone ever went to – EVER!

Why choose Lorraine for your wedding?

You may well notice that there is a lot of laughter in the photos of my ceremonies, and laughter is often mentioned in the testimonials that couples have written.

Like everything else, laughter isn’t compulsory, but I do seem to attract a lot of fun-loving people who want their personality to be reflected within their ceremony and that often involves humorous anecdotes, readings, or random funny comments from the couple or their guests – there are almost always tears of pure joy too (but there are less photos of those moments)

Naming Ceremonies

I am accredited by Humanists UK and have extensive experience in creating and conducting personalised non-religious life event celebrations for Weddings, Civil Partnerships, Commitments, Handtyings, Renewal and Reaffirmation of Vows, Namings, ‘Welcome to the Family’, Thanksgivings, Funeral/Celebrations of Life, and Memorial ceremonies.

Naming Ceremonies are perfect for anyone, at any age.

They are often used to welcome the arrival of a new baby or child (or more than one) whether by birth, adoption, or the blending of families and are a special way of uniting families and celebrating that unity.

Naming Ceremonies are also ideal for adults who choose to affirm a new name, for a variety of reasons. Maybe it is a change of spelling or perhaps the name that you were given doesn’t properly represent who you are today.

Perhaps a naming ceremony can help you celebrate a new beginning after a divorce or it might be a special way for people with a trans experience to receive name affirmation.

The reasons to hold a Naming Ceremony are endless, varied, and unique to you.

They definitely aren’t just for babies!

Renewal of Vows

I am accredited by Humanists UK and have extensive experience in creating and conducting personalised non-religious life event celebrations for Weddings, Civil Partnerships, Commitments, Handtyings, Renewal and Reaffirmation of Vows, Namings, ‘Welcome to the Family’, Thanksgivings, Funeral/Celebrations of Life, and Memorial ceremonies.

Whether you want to celebrate with just the two of you, or with lots of family and friends (or anything in between), I will work with you to make your ceremony unique and reflective of your love, your life, and your personalities.

Some people call these ceremonies ‘Celebration of Vows’ or ‘Reaffirmation of Vows’. We can call it anything you prefer.

The ceremony can be as traditional, quirky, romantic, simple, complex, humorous, or formal, as you want it to be.

It is your special day (again); I will help you to celebrate it your way!

It can be in any venue (including at home), indoors or outside and at any time.

We can even do it online with something like ZOOM – get in touch for more details…

Funerals

I have been conducting funeral ceremonies since 2012.

You may like to know that I have been trained to a very high standard, I have continued my professional development since my initial training and I adhere to a strict code of conduct.

Please be assured that I am committed to only ever providing high quality, personal, ceremonies – I do not use generic scripts or templates.

You will receive a draft service which you are encouraged to peruse (and amend, should you wish); nothing will be said by me, during the ceremony, that you have not already approved.

I will work with, and for, you to create a truly personal non-religious funeral or memorial ceremony to celebrate the life that was lived.

The ceremony will reflect the character of the person who has died and acknowledge and give thanks for the influence and impact on those that knew them.

If possible, I will meet with you to learn about the person that you are holding the service for and to discuss ceremony ideas and format.

If you prefer, or if it is more convenient for you, we can complete the preparation by telephone, email or video call.

Of course, we can include other people in the planning and within the ceremony itself, should you wish.

I will always reply promptly to your enquiry; if there is nothing in your Inbox within 24 hours please check your Spam/Junk as sometimes my emails end up in there…

Prices From

£199 (prevailing Parochial fee)

Lorraine,
I just wanted to say a huge thank you from Emma and I. The ceremony was perfect for us. You put us at ease and made everything seem right for us even though we had so little time to give you the information you needed and for you to formulate an amazingly personal experience for us and our family. We will obviously be recommending you wherever/whenever we see an option. Thank you from bottom of my heart, Jamie x
