Hi, I'm Norman

The moment I knew I wanted to be a celebrant was something of a lightbulb moment for me. In fact, I knew I wanted to be one before I fully understood what it was. I figured, who wouldn’t want to be called a Celebrant? I trained with the Institute of Professional Celebrants and upon completing my first ceremony, a funeral, I was more sure than ever that it was my calling. I have 24 years as a professional actor/singer behind me which brings a specific and very helpful skillset to my work be it speaking to a crowd, writing an exciting ceremony or heartfelt eulogy, adding something theatrical to your celebration and delivering well chosen words with depth and texture.

What's my ceremony style?

I believe very much in the human spirit and making the most of one’s time on this beautiful planet. I am open to any ideas that will make your ceremony wonderfully memorable and unique. Provided it is legal, of course. As mentioned above, I am a professional actor/singer and can bring something of the theatrical to your event or, as in the case with funerals, bring the right level of compassion and warmth whilst telling the personal and unique story of your loved one.

Why choose Norman?

I relish the idea of facilitating and celebrating and commemorating love – be it in a wedding, funeral, baby naming or anything else in between. The good feeling I get out of making other people happy is something of a natural drug to me. Not to mention the excitement that comes from conceiving a ceremony from the ground up, something utterly unique to you!
Each ceremony is fully tailored around the client and based on the answers given to a questionnaire I request to be completed. But before all of that, how about meeting up or a Zoom and talk about your wants and needs. After all, it’s about chemistry.
Not all couple for families are the same and nor are Celebrants.

Why choose Norman for your naming ceremony?

I’m a doting father of teenage twins and know how it feels to have your world rocked by a new arrival. For many, a christening is a rite of passage that adds ceremony and validity to a new arrival(s) identity but….free of any religious constraints your Baby Naming Ceremony can take the form of however you want it to, with or without a religious element, but always with your wants and needs in mind.

Renewal of Vows

I’m in the profession of celebrating love and what better significance than in celebrating enduring love. Love that has carried two people through life in spite of all tests and trials. To reinforce those early and sincere commitments by expressing to each other, and friends and family, that original bond remains as true as ever.

As a romantic at heart and as a qualified Celebrant, I offer my voice and creative writing skills to help you create a ceremony which will reflect all that you are individually and, more so, together.

Why choose Norman for your renewal of vows?

I am a romantic through and through and to see two people still very much in love however many years down the line is something truly special, especially in these days of impermanence. You want to celebrate and reinforce that love by renewing your vows? I would consider it an honour to officiate and even witness such an occasion. Have it wherever and whenever you want it. With friends and family or just the family dog.

Funerals

Everyone has a story to be told. When life ends, the chapter of remembrance begins and with it the opportunity to celebrate the life of your loved one and honouring all that they were. I would consider it an honour to be able to tell the story of your loved one with the heart and compassion they deserve. Let’s be honest, 40 minutes is not long to officially commemorate someone but with your stories and my guidance (and eulogy writing, if required) we will ensure that final farewell truly serves it’s purpose.

Together, through heartfelt storytelling and a sense of solemnity, we will mark your loved one’s story in a special and truly unforgettable way. With respect and compassion we shall ensure their ‘send off’ is brought to beautiful life.

Norman: A Superb Celebrant

5 Stars
David Roberts

Funeral | 12/16/2022 | Green Acres, Beaconsfield

Norman was the celebrant at mum’s funeral.
He was generous with his time in getting to know the family and most importantly about mum. He was willing to offer his suggestions as to the sequencing of the funeral itself and welcomed our input into the eulogy .
At the funeral itself, he was excellent as he led the service. His ability to strike the right tone and make the event especially personal for mum was most touching. Even when there was a minor hitch with the music (nothing to do with Norman) he ensured there was no drama and made sure the music continued without further issues.
Norman is a man with an enormous amount of empathy: he put us at ease at a stressful time. I would have no hesitation in recommending Norman as a celebrant at any important event for a family.

Funeral | 02/19/2022 | Golders Green Crematorium - West Chapel

We cannot thank Norman Bowman enough for the care and guidance he gave to my son and I for being the most wonderful celebrant at my sons fathers funeral. We are forever grateful to Norman for his kindness in preparing for and running the service beautifully on the toughest of days and making it so very special for Ronnie Bonds Family & Friends. There were over 150 who gathered to say farewell to Ronnie at Golders Green crematorium and all of them gave high praise to Norman for making it so personal and memorable.. In the darkest of times his support, from the first moment I called him to every detail of the service was the best we could have wished for and we will never forget. ❤️❤️

Bride:

There was something about Norman’s profile that grabbed me. I had to message him. His positive and kind energy was bursting through it and I was not disappointed when he replied.
Norman decided to set up a video call for us and I couldn’t get my camera to work so he could see me and I couldn’t see him. It was actually really funny :-) he had this in love with love caring sort of vibe and our wedding was that much more brilliant with him as our Celebrant.
My husband and I see Norman as a friend now and we would welcome him to attend any event we have. We built such a report with Norman in such a short time that we actually asked him to join our wedding reception. A friend of ours couldn’t make it because she had to quarantine. I felt as though Norman should join us. My husband felt the same.
No other Celebrant I had spoken to had that spark that Norman has, naturally, he is a confident performer which added to his strength as a Celebrant for us. He was the one and only choice for us. Thank you so much Norman, see you at our friend’s wedding!

Groom:

I knew he was the right man for the job the moment my then Fiancée said she has found OUR celebrant. We are picky people so I knew he must have been special when she said that and he did not disappoint, but far exceeded the high bar we set for him!

He was warm, friendly and conducted himself with a confidence that was very reassuring when I met him during the rehearsal.

The full breadth of his experience shined through during the actual wedding day. He talked me through the ceremony and helped alleviate any anxiety I had about messing up my part :D. The ceremony itself was spectacular (especially when I saw my bride walking down the aisle to me).

Honestly, my wife and I are very happy with the service Norman provided and now feel as though we can count him as one of our dear friends.
