Hi, I'm Philip

I am a warm, compassionate and inclusive person. I became a Civil Celebrant as a way of bringing happiness and comfort to people at life’s most significant events.

I look for insights from you that will help me to understand the emotions and experiences that will make meaningful and special events for you, your family and your friends.

I will create the perfect words for the wedding day, bringing together the love that brought your two hearts close, the hopes for your future and the inspiration that will help to bind you as you travel through life together.

If you are bereaved I will listen deeply to your thoughts and ideas so that I can write a ceremony and tribute that will perfectly capture the essence of the life experiences of your loved one.

I particularly welcome opportunities to support people from diverse backgrounds and across the LGBTQ+ communities.

What's my ceremony style?

My desire is always to be able to create beautiful and dignified ceremonies, whatever the circumstances. Combining my love of words and music with a deep sense of universal spirituality, I feel very privileged to collaborate closely with families at both the saddest and happiest of times. I do not adhere to any specific religion but I am happy to bring different ways of thinking together where there are contrasting cultures or traditions.

When we are telling the world how much we love someone, marking a major transition in life or mourning the loss of a special person in our lives, the right ceremony will help us pass through a threshold into a new chapter. I am honoured to have the opportunity to create this for you.

Why choose Philip?

I will create a ceremony that will remain with you forever. An unforgettable celebration of love and life.

As your wedding celebrant, I will help you to create the unique ceremony you want to have, with meaningful words, music, vows and rituals. It will be entirely individual, reflecting your beliefs – so much more than the legal script of a local authority registrar.

If you are bereaved I will listen carefully to your thoughts and ideas so that I can write a ceremony and tribute that will perfectly capture the essence of the life experiences of the person who has died.

What do I offer?

Weddings

I love working with open-minded couples from all backgrounds who understand the importance of bringing a deep significance to their ceremony. This will be a day you will look back on for the rest of your lives, with memories that will give you strength and joy and something to celebrate every year as you grow together. I will help you write words, choose music and create rituals that add magic to the occasion, making your ceremonies even more powerful.

It is always a pleasure and an honour to work with couples who want to find ways to cross cultural divides, ensuring that everyone in their families feels included. As a gay man, couples from the wider LGBTQ+ diaspora also have special significance. Celebrating openly with family and friends hasn’t always been possible, so that can make these ceremonies even more powerful and a privilege to officiate.

To Plan, Design & Deliver a Wedding Ceremony

This covers our initial meeting and planning workshop, the time spent writing vows and choosing readings and music and the event itself. Extra time required to design and deliver specific rituals is charged separately and will be agreed with you in advance.

Why be limited to using a council Registrar or get married in a church you never visit, when you can have the wedding of your dreams anywhere you like, some where that means something important to you? Now that it’s possible to have ceremonies in so many different settings at home and abroad, from ballrooms to mountain bothies, country houses to beaches, I’ll happily help you design a wedding ceremony that matches your expectations and brings alive the love you have for each other, in just the way you want.

Why choose Philip for your wedding?

I am a deeply thoughtful and insightful celebrant and I create simply beautiful and dignified ceremonies. I am able to judge the balance of emotions required to ensure that everyone at your event will feel included and that you will never forget it.

What I want most of all to create a ceremony that stands out from the ordinary, something that tells your family and friends about you and how you plan to live your lives together. Something extraordinary and special – a day everyone will leave wishing they were getting married too!

Funerals

I am comfortable creating funerals, ashes interment and memorial ceremonies that will allow you and your family and friends to say goodbye the way you want to. Most of us have a range of beliefs and thoughts about life, many of which help us deal with the loss of someone special. My job is to find ways to help you express those in ways that bring you all together, to share a moment that both helps you grieve and shares the life experience of the person who has died.

Losing anyone, young or old is hard for us to manage. It is a privilege to support families who reach out after someone has taken their own life or following an untimely death. My job is to deliver a ceremony
that helps you to begin to process what can be an impossibly difficult tragedy.

To Plan, Design & Deliver a Funeral Ceremony

I will listen deeply to your thoughts and ideas so that I can write a ceremony and tribute that will perfectly capture the essence of the life experiences of your loved one. If you wish to read the tribute I can also help you write something you can read and will collaborate with you and your family to combine readings and music that celebrate the life which has passed.

Why choose Philip for your funeral?

Combining my love of words and music with a deep sense of universal spirituality, I feel very privileged to work closely with families at both the saddest of times.

I am happy to work with any combination of venues and ceremonies that you choose, wherever you want them. More and more people want to take funerals beyond the crematorium or cemetery, to hold dedication ceremonies in gardens or on the beach, or to scatter ashes on a mountain top or inter them in a natural burial site.

Philip was very Kind and understood exactly, what I wanted to do for my husband. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We spoke many times to make changes and he was very happy to liaise with anyone who wanted to speak on the day.

The Davison’s Wedding in Girona, Spain

Philip was the celebrant at our wedding in Girona Spain, he was fantastic! My family are Arabic and my husband’s Brazilian so it was important to us to make everyone feel included and addressed. Philip managed to integrate both cultures in his words when addressing our family & guests and made everyone feel included and part of the ceremony.

He put together the whole ceremony from start to finish, thinking about all the fine details & also writing our vows for us, taking fine details from our lives and articulating them perfectly.

Classy, beautiful, inclusive & brilliantly delivered. Thank you so much Philip, you really took the time to make it a beautiful ceremony that we won’t forget. 🥰
