I am a creative theatrical celebrant that can write and deliver a completely unique ceremony designed just for you…. I’m energetic, spontaneous and calm in a crisis. I create fun, vibrant ceremonies for those who want something personal and fancy something a little different from the norm… Let’s think outside of the box!
“So your name is Harriet, why is your business called Phoebe Smith Ceremonies?” So glad you asked… Phoebe is a family name, passed down to each first-born female child. So, when starting this new venture, I chose to use the name, feeling like I have those generations of women behind me. I’m happy to be called either!
What's my ceremony style?
I have spent my life working in performing arts as a performer, director, writer, project manager and teacher. I LOVE to be creative and I like nothing more than captivating an audience, taking them on an emotional journey. I live for making people smile. (It’s an ethos of mine, I try every day. A moment of kindness costs nothing but it’s effect can be priceless)
My aim is to make your ceremony perfect. Use of voice and presence I think is key, us actors have all the skills needed to be vocally charismatic varying pitch and tone, with creative timing knowing where and when to use pace and pause, to lift a room or give a moment reverence. Let’s leave bland behind, add some original flavour…

Having worked all my life in theatre and drama, I see your ceremony as a performance, an event. I love to find a creative way to tell your story. I am compassionate, openminded, kind, honest, genuine and welcoming to all. I’m always so excited when I meet my couples and families to work with them to build and choreograph the most perfect unique magical ceremony.
I’m based on the Essex Suffolk borders and will travel an hour radius.

I love barn weddings, festival vibes, woodland and intimate garden ceremonies. There will be laughter, tears, and lots of love. If you want to write your own vows and I can help you, we can build something beautiful and truly memorable. From sand ceremonies and musical performances to shots and congregation karaoke, what whatever floats your boat, we can make it happen.
Bronze – £750
Initial zoom meeting plus on-going telephone and email support.
Bespoke ceremony script – Unlimited changes.
Ceremony Day presentation, arrival an hour before ceremony.
Optional certificate signing.
Presentation souvenir script
Silver – £850
As bronze plus – symbolic element such as handfasting or sand ceremony
And optional rehearsal before the day.
Gold – £1200
As Silver plus – MC for the rest of day until your first dance. Announcing speeches, first dance, scooping up guests for photographs, making sure all the important moments are given the focus they deserve.

Naming Ceremonies
A child entering the world is given a name specially selected by meaning or tradition, taking a moment to celebrate this life in a celebration can be a joyous event. If you are not religious this can be a wonderful opportunity for chosen guide parents to be included.
However, we can change our name at any point in our life….

Best Decision Ever!
We first met Harriet at a wedding fair, and within an hour of meeting, we’d booked her – there was that much of an immediate connection! It was probably one of the quickest and easiest wedding decisions we made, and we can safely say now that it was one of the BEST! We would not have had such a perfect day without her.
We opted to book her full day package which meant we had the joy of her celebrant-ing our ceremony and then staying with us till after the first dance acting as a marvellous master of ceremonies.
Our ceremony was absolutely incredible and so perfectly ‘us’. We met Harriet a few times ahead of the wedding which meant she really knew our story and was able to write a script that summed us up perfectly. One of the best things about having a celebrant lead ceremony is the ability to really personalise; we liked the idea of a symbolic element, but weren’t sure if hand fasting/sand pouring etc. was really us. However, in one of meetings with Harriet, we dreamed up a ‘cocktail ceremony’ in which we incorporated some live mixology into our wedding with each ingredient reflecting a bit of our relationship. Harriet poured everything beautifully on the day (!) and it became one of my favourite memories!
As master of ceremonies, Harriet was super helpful in directing our guests as needed (eg. we needed tables called up one by one to get dinner), toast mastering the speeches, and generally getting stuck in and making sure our day ran smoothly.
Overall, we couldn’t have been happier with our choice to have Harriet involved in our wedding, and the parcel that arrived afterwards (with a ceremonial certificate, a copy of the script etc.) was a beautifully presented commemoration of the joy that she bought us. Would recommend in a heartbeat!!
Our special day
We had the pleasure of Harriet as our celebrant on our special day; the energy and fun she brought to the ceremony was perfect.
She really engaged with our guests, and it set such a great mood and tone for the rest of the day. There were so many comments about how brilliant the ceremony was.
The script she put together captured our story to a T, we had great fun reading it again as Harriet sent it to us as a lovely gift with a copy of our vows.
We can’t thank Harriet enough for making our special day truly special.

Harriet was brilliant from start to finish.
I don’t think me and my wife realised the amazing benefits to having a celebrant like Harriet.
Our wedding ceremony was so incredibly special and there wasn’t a dry eye in ‘the barn’. Harriet delivered her script beautifully and guests came up to us throughout the day saying how great she was and it was the best ceremony they’d ever witnessed.
We met up with Harriet before our wedding and spoke about various things like who we are as a couple, our history and our family. After getting to know us she wrote a lovely personal script.
She was so helpful throughout the whole process of writing our vows and thinking about the personal touches we wanted to include.
We recently also received our script in the post as a beautiful gift.
Thank you so much Harriet for making our day so special, making people laugh and cry and just being yourself and everything anyone could ever want in a celebrant.
