I am a creative theatrical celebrant that can write and deliver a completely unique ceremony designed just for you…. I’m energetic, spontaneous and calm in a crisis. I create fun, vibrant ceremonies for those who want something personal and fancy something a little different from the norm… Let’s think outside of the box!
“So your name is Harriet, why is your business called Phoebe Smith Ceremonies?” So glad you asked… Phoebe is a family name, passed down to each first-born female child. So, when starting this new venture, I chose to use the name, feeling like I have those generations of women behind me. I’m happy to be called either!
What's my ceremony style?
I have spent my life working in performing arts as a performer, director, writer, project manager and teacher. I LOVE to be creative and I like nothing more than captivating an audience, taking them on an emotional journey. I live for making people smile. (It’s an ethos of mine, I try every day. A moment of kindness costs nothing but it’s effect can be priceless)
My aim is to make your ceremony perfect. Use of voice and presence I think is key, us actors have all the skills needed to be vocally charismatic varying pitch and tone, with creative timing knowing where and when to use pace and pause, to lift a room or give a moment reverence. Let’s leave bland behind, add some original flavour…

Having worked all my life in theatre and drama, I see your ceremony as a performance, an event. I love to find a creative way to tell your story. I am compassionate, openminded, kind, honest, genuine and welcoming to all. I’m always so excited when I meet my couples and families to work with them to build and choreograph the most perfect unique magical ceremony.
I’m based on the Essex Suffolk borders and will travel an hour radius.

We smile, we laugh, we click. (I’m sure there will be many other emotions, there usually is!)
I love barn weddings, festival vibes, woodland and intimate garden ceremonies. There will be laughter, tears, and lots of love. If you want to write your own vows and I can help you, we can build something beautiful and truly memorable. From sand ceremonies and musical performances to shots and congregation karaoke, what whatever floats your boat, we can make it happen.
Bronze – £750
Initial zoom meeting plus on-going telephone and email support.
Bespoke ceremony script – Unlimited changes.
Ceremony Day presentation, arrival an hour before ceremony.
Optional certificate signing.
Presentation souvenir script
Silver – £850
As bronze plus – symbolic element such as handfasting or sand ceremony
And optional rehearsal before the day.
Gold – £1200
As Silver plus – MC for the rest of day until your first dance. Announcing speeches, first dance, scooping up guests for photographs, making sure all the important moments are given the focus they deserve.

Naming Ceremonies
A child entering the world is given a name specially selected by meaning or tradition, taking a moment to celebrate this life in a celebration can be a joyous event. If you are not religious this can be a wonderful opportunity for chosen guide parents to be included.
However, we can change our name at any point in our life….

An incredible celebrant!
There are no words that would do justice to how incredible Harriet is, but I’ll try! After meeting Harriet at a wedding fayre, we knew that her fun, enthusiastic and energetic personality was exactly what we wanted to set the tone for our big day.
Harriet worked with us right from the start to curate such a beautiful ceremony. When we had to make the difficult decision of postponing our wedding by a year, Harriet was incredibly supportive, understanding and even reworked her ceremony script to make adjustments that suited our new plan.
Her creativity and kindness worked hand in hand to deliver a ceremony that we could never have imagined. Tying in clever and fun personal details throughout, and even special lyrics as a nod to our first dance song.
On what was a very wet and windy outdoor wedding day, Harriet certainly brought the sunshine. She made us feel so relaxed and performed our ceremony perfectly. All of our guests were in awe and they all commented on how wonderful Harriet was. It started the day exactly as we wanted it to: fun, joyful and colourful.
I would recommend Harriet to everyone. She is fantastic at creating a ceremony that is brilliantly bespoke, cleverly written and confidently performed. If you want a celebrant that encapsulates your love as a couple, brings laughter and smiles to your guests and puts your nerves at ease, then Harriet is an easy choice.
Best Celebrant ever!
I knew from the minute I saw Harriet’s page she was going to be the one for us, she put together a truly bespoke beautiful wedding ceremony, so many of our guests complimented her and one even wanted her to fly to the US to officiate her daughters wedding!
It was not just the ceremony, Harriet’s attention to detail and efforts to get to know us before the wedding were second to none, during the wedding she delivered a brilliant ceremony and after helped arrange my dress for photos and helped with Photos and just generally was there for anything we needed. After the ceremony the little touches were beautiful also, the video she made and the presentation of our script and certificate were lovely.
I really cant recommend her enough, she is an absolute superstar, lovely person and the most wonderful celebrant you could want
Everything and More
We never thought that a tailor made ceremony could be within our sights but we thank our lucky stars it was and that Harriet was there to perform it, she is without doubt the best decision we made for our special day going to great lengths to get to know us, zoom meetings, in person meetings, a run through, all of it culminating in a ceremony that was at once funny, touching and like a folk tale perfectly conveying who we were and what we meant to each other, her words blew us away with their accuracy and emotion, “Best ceremony ever” was heard from nearly every guest and it is truly deserved, words are not enough -book her now! You will have memories to span a lifetime, cannot thank her enough
