Hi, I'm Sheila
Hi, I’m Sheila Duncan, an Award Winning Celebrant based in Liverpool, I was born in the vibrant city of Liverpool and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else, I am a typical Liverpudlian who loves to chat: we are known for our warm personalities and great sense of humour! I was inspired to become a Celebrant after attending a Naming Ceremony of my great nephew, visiting from New Zealand, and attending a Celebrant led Wedding of a family member in 2018. Both such joyous occasions, I now had a bee in my bonnet and knew that becoming a Celebrant was for me. I trained with Civil Ceremonies Ltd. to achieve my Level 3 NOCN Diploma – Couples and Naming Ceremonies in 2020, and created by business in 2021. I can honestly say, it is the best decision I have ever made! Working with the most amazing couples and families, creating precious memories really is the best job in the world!
What's my ceremony style?
I would describe my style as traditional with a modern twist, and can adapt to the vibe of your wedding!
If you are looking for a Wedding Celebrant to jump out of a plane attached to a parachute, or dress up as a Harry Potter character, then there is a Celebrant out there for you, but that’s just not me!
Should you prefer a Celebrant to be relaxed, professional, can bring a touch of humour and bucket loads of love to your ceremony, then you are in the right place!
I strongly believe that we are all unique as individuals and your ceremony should be too!

My typical clients are couples who want to celebrate one of the most memorable occasions of their lives in a unique and personalised way.
I have experience of delivering Wedding Ceremonies in luxurious country houses, exquisite hotels, fabulous marquees, coastal castles, private homes, rustic barns.
Each of the Wedding Ceremonies I create are unique, created to ensure your love as a couple shines through and your ‘I do’ moment unfolds exactly as you envisage.
You may wish to invite family or friends to be involved, include fun elements, traditions or rituals, the options are endless, you may have ideas of your own or I can help you with suggestions based on your individuality.
I will create a ceremony which will be as special as you hope it will be and so much more!
My package is fully inclusive with no hidden extras!
Following our initial consultation, once your booking is confirmed, I am exclusively yours for that date, my focus for the day is you!
We will meet face to face, have a coffee, I will listen to your ideas and how you want your day to unfold. I will guide you through the process and we will start our journey of bringing your vision to life.

Naming Ceremonies
Naming ceremonies are all about new beginnings at any age! It is a wonderful way to welcome a child of any age into your circle of family and friends.
Whether your child is relatively new-born, you are celebrating their first birthday, or you are welcoming an adopted child, or celebrating a blended family: a naming ceremony gives you as parents the opportunity to make promises and declare your commitment and love and cherish your children in the presence of family and friends.
Most parents choose to have ‘guide parents’ or ‘supporting adults’ to take part in the ceremony, someone you want to always be there for your child to support them as they grow into independent adults.
There may be other reasons for celebrating a name change, such gender transition, changing a name due to divorce, what a lovely way to mark this milestone of a new beginning and a cause to celebrate!

Renewal of Vows
Vow Renewals Ceremonies are popular for couples celebrating a milestone anniversary, couples who have been through a difficult period in their lives, maybe just to celebrate their continued love for each other!
When it comes to Vow Renewals , I feel incredibly privileged when asked to create a Renewal of Marriage Vows.
Whatever the reason to say ‘I do’ again, I find there is something incredibly romantic for couple to reaffirm their promises of love and commitment for each other and celebrate their marriage once again.
I do love a good love story, hearing all about your life together, the highlights and maybe the challenges.
Whether it is an intimate affair, or a larger celebration, I will help you to create your perfect ceremony.
There may be a few tears, always some laughs, but most importantly I will create for you a day to remember for all the right reasons!

Why choose Sheila for your renewal of vows?
Having created many Vow Renewal Ceremonies for couples who are celebrating their live and devotion to each other for many reasons, including milestone anniversaries: 10th, 25th, 40th even 60th (this one was a complete surprise organised by their family)! I can honestly say each of them has been totally unique, each wanting to celebrate in different ways ranging from a family barbeque to a high end country manor.
I spend time really getting to know the couples I work with, listening to what they want, exploring reasons they want to renew their Marriage Vows. sort of like painting a tapestry of their lives together.
Each one of my couples and their families have used words like: memorable, amazing, heart warming, some guests have even asked am I a family friend, as I seem to know the couple and their journey so well!

Wedding Ceremony
Sheila is an amazing celebrant and really took her time to gain information from my husband and I, relating to our love story.
This was displayed beautifully on the wedding day and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight.
Our ceremony also included a game of Mr & Mrs which was fantastic!
It was the best decision my husband and I ever made including Sheila in our ceremony. We first met Sheila in a professional capacity, and now we see her as a friend.
Wedding Ceremony
Sheila was phenomenal! From the very first call to leading our day, the attention she paid to us and our story was beyond anything we could have asked for. The detail Sheila adds to the service from little throw away comments you make in meetings to the contents of the questionnaires is above and beyond. Our service made us laugh, cry and smile. In fact half the photos from the ceremony my husband and I are laughing our heads off. More than that though for us it was a coming together as a family and Sheila made sure all our girls were included. Catering to our youngest child’s dyslexia and doing EVERYTHING she could to help to our sand ceremony that ended up in a playful fight of who could fill the bottle with their sand the best. Truly if you choose Sheila you absolutely won’t be disappointed and in fact I’m just disappointed I won’t be getting married again and need her services! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for our magical day and starting our married life off in the way you did.
