Hi, I'm Gillian

‘Remember Love Cuimhnich air a’ Graidh’

I believe in compassion, kindness and warm-heartedness and that is why I am an Independent Celebrant.
I am passionate about marking ‘threshold moments’ by creating Ceremony. It is so important for us to be able to step away from our busy lives and to focus on the power of the moment. To join in connection with a circle of special people, to honour the occasion, the love, the sadness, the joy, the real emotion that is Ceremony.
My inspiration comes from my roots in North West Scotland, the Gaelic and Celtic cultures and traditions and stories.
I have successfully completed a range of Celebrant Training: currently, I am studying to become a OneSpirit Interfaith Minister.
I love to write, and I am committed to being the Celebrant who works with you to create the Ceremonies which are the most fitting and unique for you.

What's my ceremony style?

Together, we will invoke the sacred power of Ceremony, and I will gently hold the space for you and your loved ones. I will honour and respect your freedom to choose the words, the music, the format of your special occasion, and will also advise and guide you if needed. My Ceremonies can be completely secular or can include religious aspects.
I love nature and being outdoors: all of my Ceremonies honour nature, natural life events and cycles, and I delight in being able to offer Ceremonies in places of beauty. Mountains, woodlands, beaches, places of great significance to you, provide ideal surroundings for the most meaningful Ceremonies.
I love to draw on customs, traditions and rituals, particularly from Scotland: I would also love to create new traditions and rituals, unique to you and your loved ones, which could become the hallmarks of your family Ceremonies.

Remember Love Cuimhnich air a’ Graidh

I am a daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother and friend: I know and understand the joy of relationships and family. My business centres on creating the Ceremonies that celebrate and honour your love in the deepest, most personal and meaningful way.
I was a teacher for over 30 years and a Headteacher for 12. I draw on my significant experience of supporting children, families and staff, public speaking and leadership to craft wedding Ceremonies ranging from small and intimate, to those involving larger numbers.
As a Wedding Celebrant, I combine my creativity with my efficiency, the magical with the practical, and I commit to giving my all to your Ceremony.
My contract with you ensures that you will be respected and honoured, and that you will have the freedom to make your own choices, or be supported to ask for advice and guidance.

I offer you my compassion, my skill, my understanding and my commitment to creating your unique wedding Ceremony.
I offer Ceremonies that draw on Scottish customs and traditions, but I also love to weave your stories into new traditions which could become hallmarks of your special family occasions. I can recommend words and music, but I also offer to write poems which are my gifts to you. I can include religious aspects or create a completely secular Ceremony.
I will take whatever time is needed to get to know you both, listening carefully until we have created a Ceremony which is completely right for you.
Mountains, beaches, woodlands, magical places that celebrate nature and reflect the beauty of your love, are where I am most at home.
The sacred power of the Ceremony we create will hold you both in its heart – I will make sure of that!

Why choose Gillian for your funeral?

When a loved one dies, our relationship with them lives on. I believe that the right Ceremony, to mark this threshold moment of death, plays a vital part in recognising and acknowledging the relationships that will continue, albeit in a different way.
Sharing the stories and memories with family and friends, is an important stage in both grieving and healing.
It would therefore be my privilege to walk with you on the journey leading to a Ceremony which honours the life of the deceased, allows the opportunity to say goodbye, but also gives comfort and peace to the bereaved.

Gillian made our daughters graduation day so special and in some ways it was more meaningful and personal than a normal graduation. The ceremony was very moving and a day we will cherish forever. We can’t thank Gillian enough. Her garden is so peaceful which made the perfect setting. Also thank you to Oliver for our professional video and photos it has been lovely to look back on our day.
