Hi, I'm Sharon
I am Sharon Gowans, a qualified and independent Celebrant, working in Devon and Cornwall.
I trained with The Fellowship of Independent Celebrants (FOIC) and achieved my accreditation and NOCN qualification, three years ago.
I am a qualified counsellor registered with the BACP and National Counselling Society, with specialist training in bereavement and trauma.
I am originally from Scotland and have served in the Armed Forces.
What's my ceremony style?
My style is empathic, warm and professional. Each service is written uniquely for your loved one.
I have worked as a Funeral Director so understand the process from beginning to end when supporting you to organise a funeral. Being trained as a counsellor ensures I am able to provide emotional support for you and your family during and after if needed.

I offer bespoke and heartfelt funeral, celebration of life or memorial services.
I also provide a package for funeral wishes should you wish to pre plan your funeral or celebration of life service.

What I will do for you –
Support and advise you to make the funeral arrangements that reflect the wishes of your loved one and you as a family.
I will visit you at your home or at a family address, to meet you and family members who will be involved in planning the funeral service.
We will sit and talk about the best way to celebrate the life of your loved one. Together we discuss ideas and I provide options that will enable a unique and personal service to be created.
I take great pride in my role as your Celebrant and believe it is such an honour to be with you and your family at such a difficult, painful and important part of your lives.

Beautiful service
Sharon lead my fathers service as if she had known him for years and done a wonderful job of it to, in a time where everything is so hard and you want absolutely everything fitted in Sharon toke the time to put everything together that we had put to her and done a grand job of it, she made my mum feel that little bit at ease when going through dads life history, I can not thank Sharon in a way that she deserves for the most beautiful send of my dad had, instead of the service being a sad goodbye it was a thank you and a celebration of his life, Sharon listened to everything we all had to say she never rushed us she just listened and let us have our cry’s our laughs, Sharon I thank you I honestly do.
Exceptional Celebrant
Looking to renew our wedding vows after 10 years, we began to research a suitable Celebrant in the Tavistock area. The search started a year before the event. My wife clicked on Sharon and without reading her bio simply said to me excitedly, she’s definitely our celebrant! She got in touch with Sharon and immediately we felt very relaxed and felt we had known Sharon for years. Sharon guided us through the ceremony and told us what we had to provide and what we should do and of course what she should do. Sharon took this role very seriously indeed and throughout the year maintained in constant touch to ensure we were both ok in health and of course with our vows and she was there for anything and everything should we need her. Her absolute professionalism and dedication to us and focus on her role was second to none. She was just the best support during that time and her attention to detail was just off the map! The day of the ceremony came and she didn’t just deliver, she was just amazing and had total control of her duties towards the ceremony, not once did we have to worry she had every angle covered! It was her job to see everything flowed and our job was to go with the flow. If anybody is in need of the services of an exceptional and amazing celebrant, then please do get in touch with Sharon. I can assure you, you will not be disappointed and like us, you would have definitely made the right choice. My wife and I cannot thank her for the absolute perfect ceremony and we certainly would not hesitate to recommend her and her services to anyone in the future.
