Hi, I'm Sue

Hi, I’m Sue – and proud to be a fully accredited Independent Celebrant working mainly in Dorset and Hampshire (but happy to travel!). I create ceremonies for weddings, commitments, vow renewals, namings, and transitioning celebrations.

An Independant Celebrant is one who can create any ceremony, anywhere – with no rules to follow, no boxes to tick, and no preconceived ideas on the ‘right’ way to do it. It’s always up to you; whether you want a simple, intimate, stripped-back ceremony, a big colourful one involving rituals and traditions to involve your family and friends, or anything in between. I can help you bring your ideas to life, and suggest things you may have never thought of! I’ll bring as many extras into the ceremony as you would like – including music, readings, songs, themes, and keepsakes – and will bring it all together on rehearsal day, so you can sleep tight the night before the big day.

What's my ceremony style?

My style is pretty eclectic after so many years in global events and British theatre. I love a bit of glitz and razamatazz, but I also appreciate down-to-earth, ‘real’ ceremonies that don’t lose sight of the reason you’re celebrating.

My ceremonies are always peppered with gentle humour to make everyone feel relaxed and entertained…. but mostly my style is to reflect who you are and what you want for your big day. I promise I’ll make it special.

Why choose Sue?

With a lifelong career in events and theatre, I bring both worlds together to create unique ceremonies that entertain and sparkle. If you’re looking for a celebrant to write and deliver a ceremony with humour, warmth, and creativity – and with ridiculous attention to detail – I’m here for you.

I’m passionate about inclusivity and believe everyone deserves equal respect. I’m an LGBTQIA+ ally and am honoured to officiate weddings for couples of any sexuality or gender.

And naming ceremonies aren’t just for babies – if you’ve become your authentic self later in life, I’m equally honoured to officiate renamings and transition celebrations.

What do I offer?

Weddings

My ideal couple? Well… usually, before we begin, you’ll want to understand the role of a celebrant and how, together, we can create a day to remember. You’ll will be open with me; fully sharing your ideas, being honest about your likes and dislikes… and then place your trust in me to deliver the best ceremony I can.

My favourite ceremony? Probably one where the joy is palpable and everyone is brimming with excitement (it’s OK to have nerves, I promise I’ll calm you). The guests are all on time, smiling, and raring to go – joining in where requested and feeling the love. We’ll laugh together and there’ll be a tear or two. But as the ceremony ends, we’ll all think it’s the best one ever.

And if something goes awry? No problem! We’ll fix it, gloss over it, or incorporate it into the fun!

Sue was the celebrant for our wedding on 20th September and we couldn’t have asked for more. She thought of everything, made suggestions when things weren’t going to plan and added lovely touches that made it really special. She made everyone feel so welcome and pulled us all together so we knew what we were doing! Her script was perfect; she made us laugh and cry. She was brilliant. Thank you Sue.

Having had the pleasure of meeting Sue at our friends’ wedding, her genuine supportiveness and reassuring approach were evident from the outset.

Throughout the ceremony and the entire wedding day, Sue guided every detail with remarkable ease and grace. However, what truly resonated with me was her support for the bride during moments of nerves. It was a heartfelt display of her caring nature and her remarkable ability to instill a sense of calm in everyone around her. I would highly recommend Sue to any couple looking for a celebrant with humour, compassion and oodles of fun!

Sue totally immersed herself in our wedding and in our love story. She wanted to learn all about us from the early planning stages. Her attention to detail was incredible. She listened to what we wanted – and what we didn’t want(!) – giving the ceremony the perfect balance of emotion and light hearttendess. It made people laugh and cry. There was no expectation of what the ceremony should look like or be – it was all in our hands, with so much helpful guidance from Sue.

Sue incorporated our wedding theme too; in the personalised script, little touches in the ceremony; even her own outfit! Her creativity helped us involve our families in the ceremony in ways we hadn’t thought of. Our families said that they really felt included which was so important to us.

Sue made time to travel to see our venue and to rehearse; efforts which made a huge difference on the day and of which our wedding party were very appreciative. Sue made contact with our suppliers which enabled everything to feel synced on the day. Our photographer and wedding coordinator were very complimentary of Sue’s efforts. Sue captured all of the ceremony content in a beautiful, personalised box, which we will honestly treasure.

We had so much faith in Sue. Her patience, her creativity and her commitment were incredible. We genuinely couldn’t have asked for more.
