Hi, I'm Ruth
I became a Celebrant in early 2022 after my father passed away and we used a Celebrant for his funeral. At that point I had never heard of Celebrants and I was really disappointed with the experience.
I feel so strongly that these significant moments in your life need to be right – right for you, your family and those that have departed. You only get one chance to make it authentic and bespoke. What an honour to have that role, be that voice, tell that story.
Having been asked many times by friends and family to speak at weddings, civil partnerships and funerals; and with my background; becoming a Celebrant felt like a natural calling.

What's my ceremony style?
I offer ceremonies for couples, funerals and memorials, and namings. My style is open, honest, genuine and authentic. Having had years of experience of public speaking and presenting, my natural style and relaxed nature, means I can deliver, but also be so aware of what is going on around me. This means people feel so much more involved and engaged with ceremonies.
I am creative, adaptable and willing to explore any ideas you have. No matter how outlandish they may be, I will work hard to help you find a way to make it happen.
More than anything I care, and that is so evident from the moment you meet me. I care that you get your day when you want, where you want, and in the way you want. You will have a real power-house by your side to make sure that happens.

Biker Escort
I recently officiated a funeral for someone who had been a biker all his life. The local bike club provided an escort for the funeral party to the crematorium. It was so touching and something he would have loved, especially as they blocked all the roads and junctions to let him pass!

Weddings
I love a couple that wants to make their day special and unique. As much as I happy to do more traditional ceremonies, I do enjoy creating something that is different.
I think times are changing so much, we don’t have to stick to the rules anymore, and anything is possible. If you look on my website you will see I have put together a whole selection of Ceremony ideas. These are based on ones I know work and can be adapted to you and your partner’s wishes. I am open to it all.
All that matters is you, and the people you love and choose to be there, get to witness and celebrate your love. My role is to help you create a day that everyone will remember for the rest of their lives, that encapsulates who you both are and what you mean to each other.
I offer a Basic Package which pretty much covers everything. We would have an initial meeting to talk about your ideas and where we can get to know each other. I will provide you with my Couples Ceremony Package which contains a whole host of ideas and inspiration, including readings, poems and vows. I will create your ceremony (which can be amended as many times as you need), liaise with venues, organise a practice if needed, and of course, officiate the day.
I will also provide you with a beautiful ceremony package (digital and printed) which contains your Certificate and the full Ceremony.
On my website you will find a ‘What You Can Expect From Me’ document. This breaks it all down in detail. There could be additional costs depending on what you want and where you want it, but I am 100% transparent with my charges.

Naming Ceremonies
I offer Naming Ceremonies for babies, children, blended families, adoptees and transgender re-naming. I also offer Naming Ceremonies held in the devastating event that a baby or child has passed away.
I like to work with people who wish to create a wonderful family celebration, dedicated to celebrating the child or children and held as an acknowledgement of your achievement and addition to your family unit. If it is for a child that has passed away, we will create a significant and special ‘celebration of life’ service where they would be officially named and acknowledged.
For a transgender re-naming ceremony we would be celebrating your journey of discovery and a new beginning.
The content of your naming day can be as personal and intimate, or as flamboyant as you like!

Funerals
If you are someone who believes it should be about celebrating someone’s life whilst sensitively acknowledging the loss, then my business and style may be right for you.
I place great emphasis on supporting the family to bring together a beautiful and dignified ceremony which achieves just the right tone to match people’s thoughts and feelings and the personality, love and style of the departed.
I like to work with people who want to bring the spark and character of the departed back to life, if just for a moment, before you say goodbye. Each person is so unique, and their story should be handled with care, respect and honour. I offer more traditional ceremonies, but also much more alternative ones. I work closely with you and take the time to learn about your loved one’s life, what they cared about, what they believed in and the legacy they have left behind. I ensure your wishes are fulfilled and create a significant and special ‘celebration of life’ service. Throughout the process I can also provide comfort, support and guidance where needed.

I offer a more traditional ceremony but can also share with you lots of ways and ideas you can make your ceremony more unique, bespoke, memorable and in-keeping with the love, style and personality of the person who has departed.
I am incredibly sensitive and respectful, and having been through this all several times on a very personal level, have empathy and understanding about how it genuinely feels.

Internment of ashes..
Ruth gave an excellent Eulogy/ story of our aunt’s life . This was for the blessing of her ashes before being placed into family grave . She contacted a few of the family , promptly and gave us time to gather thoughts to put together a lovely ceremony. She knitted everything well. She was patient and kind .. thoughtful .. Want to say a big thank you Ruth .
