Joyous, Beautiful and memorable ceremonies that are about you and yours.
Many things interest me in life, especially the rich variety of people that I meet through my work, those of you who want to mark a significant event in your lives and are exploring the possibility of a bespoke ceremony. I have been a Celebrant for six years since training with the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants. Every single workday brings something and somebody different into my life, it’s a dream of a job and the best part is that I get to share it with you.
Previously I worked for many years in Social Care and Diversity and Inclusion, my thing was person centred practice. I have a huge amount of experience in creative writing and public speaking and by spending time with you and learning about your personality and all of the little quirks and nuances that make you so unique I can craft your story into a ceremony that you will remember for many years to come. I love applying person centred thinking and writing skills when creating ceremonies and services, the rites of passage from birth to death and everything in between that mark significant events in life, celebrating life in all its glorious splendour.
Whether I am creating weddings, funerals, vow renewals and naming / welcoming ceremonies, (and more!) It is very important to me that you feel able to be open and comfortable during your ceremony and the great thing about Celebrant led ceremonies is that we can work together over time and collaborate to create a ceremony so unique, it can only be about you and yours.
I love a bit of quirk! So don’t feel that you can’t be you, think freely and let’s get creative. I love to celebrate difference and am respectful of any cultural and spiritual aspects to ceremony that are important to you and I am happy to include them and any symbolic elements. I love outdoor weddings and venues chosen for their special meaning, which might mean anywhere from a field to a ruined castle, to a hotel, as long as you are happy then I am too. If traditional is your preference, that’s fine by me because after all, your ceremony is about you and your story.
Naming ceremonies and ceremonies that welcome an adopted child into the family, are wonderful and original, focusing on your child/ren, and your family and friends, with no line of babies waiting to be dipped!
While I may not have shared the same experiences as you, I can empathise and relate to many different life situations. Some of the most meaningful funerals that I have written have been joyous occasions. We are all unique in our own way and funerals should reflect that, they should incorporate the joy of life as well as saying a respectful goodbye…
