Its your celebration and you deserve it to be exactly how you want it to be, whether it be a wedding or funeral, I like to think outside of the box.
I enjoy meeting couples and families and learning all about them. I write beautiful and memorable ceremonies that have you or your love one right at the centre. They are written from scratch and totally unique, just like you. No one ceremony is like another because there is no other one like you or your loved one.
The script is written and tweaked until you are happy
On the day of your ceremony, I will arrive early to ensure everything is set up and everyone knows what will be happening. I will conduct your ceremony, exactly as. planned and it will be amazing.

What's my ceremony style?
I love quirky, fun and unconventional. Life is about creating memories and having fun whilst doing it. I adore outdoor weddings and I even believe that funerals can be fun too. If our loved one was a funny person or they loved a good old dance and sing along, incorporate that into the ceremony. Ceremonies don’t need to be stuffy and boring. The ceremonies I offer are:
Weddings and Vow Renewals, funerals, celebrations of life, memorials, naming ceremonies, rites of passage and just about anything you want to celebrate.
Yes I love the more non traditional ceremonies but I can confidently adapt my style to you, it is your day after all, so lets get together and chat about your day!

I am a genuine, fun, unconventional, approachable, hardworking person and I love my job. I say job, but to be honest I love it so much it doesn’t feel like a job. Making your ceremony the best it can be to represent you if what I am all about. For the longest time, I have believed that every person should embrace their own personality and shout it from the rooftops, this has led me to think a little differently when creating your ceremony. I want what you want which is a ceremony that represents you or your loved one. Its that simple really.

Hi, I’m Sharon, owner of Velvet Rose ceremonies, also known as the unconventional celebrant. I am a fun, colourful, quirky and approachable Celebrant who loves a fabulous celebration. I live in Stoke on Trent with my husband and teenage Son, oh and not forgetting my fur baby dogs Alfie and Bruno. I travel throughout the UK delivering ceremonies for imaginative couples who want their wedding day to be all about them, their personalities and the love they share.
I DO NOT do boring and with that in mind, I can guarantee that once we get chatting about your wedding plans, you will have made a new friend and found the right celebrant for your big day.
Whether you want fun, colourful and bright or a dark and moody gothic ceremony, I am the person for you if you want something totally different.
I offer a variety of packages from SCRIPT ONLY to a Perfect Package with me as your Mistress of Ceremonies up until your first dance. I ensure an individual feel to each couples’ ceremony. There is an initial relaxed consultation over a coffee and I also give you some questionnaires to complete about your love story. I then start to write your script, from scratch. It will be all about you, your family, friends and your love story. It is tweaked as many times as necessary to get it perfect. On the day, I arrive early to ensure that everyone know exactly where they should be, including any other suppliers. I will make sure that you are ready too. Your ceremony will be as planned, and I will always ensure that it’s all about you. I am there from the first enquiry to guide you and to help you have the wedding you always wanted. I also offer symbolic ceremonies.

I can provide the following services:
Baby Naming Ceremonies, Family blending Ceremonies, Name changing Ceremonies, Transgender Ceremonies, Coming Out Ceremonies and any Rites of passage ceremonies you wish to celebrate.
It is so wonderful to celebrate a new member of the family and accept them into the family throng. There are no right or wrong ways to have this ceremony. It is entirely up to you. We would talk through what you would like and I may offer some suggestions. The script is written from scratch and tweaked as necessary to ensure a wonderful ceremony day is enjoyed by everyone
Increasingly there is more requests for a ceremony to welcome a child into a family Unit, for example when a parent and step parent marry they may wish for the children to be ceremoniously accepted into the new family and bring some unity to the future.
Less common are name changing ceremonies, transgender ceremonies, coming out ceremonies and other rites of passage, however they are always treated in the same way and give the time and devotion required t ensure a perfect ceremony for all involved.

I have always believed that as an individual, you should belong to something, whether it be a family, a community or something else that suits you. As humans we need to belong, its in our DNA. By holding a ceremony for your child or anyone else, this gives the individual and those around them a feeling of fulfilment and belonging, knowing that they have love, support and care from those they love the most.
I am also happy to provide ceremonies for individuals who have transitioned and would like to celebrate becoming the person they have always wanted to be.

Ok, so, you’ve been there, done that and got the ring to prove it!
People decide to renew their vows for different reasons. Some because they just think it would be an awesome way to celebrate their love (and they would be correct). Others may have a more serious reason such as having faced difficult challenges in their marriage or even an illness. I can be sensitive and also write a ceremony that shows what you have been though as a couple and how you may have overcome things throughout your marriage. Its about celebrating life, love and the future of you both in your marriage and I would do that with respect dignity and fun too

I’ve been married for few years and whilst I don’t claim to know everything, there have been moments where it’s been difficult. I understand what it means when a loved one gets really sick. I understand about forgiveness, honesty and truth to make a marriage work. It’s such an honour being part of a couples’ history, their honesty and commitment to each other and also, their families.

Funerals
Hi, I’m Sharon, owner of Velvet Rose ceremonies. I am a fun, colourful and approachable Celebrant who loves a fabulous celebration. I live in Stoke on Trent with my husband and teenage Son, oh and not forgetting my fur baby dogs Alfie and Bruno. I travel throughout Staffordshire delivering bespoke funerals. I have a 21 year history as a nurse and I have found that this experience means that I am able to communicate and listen well with my clients.
Not only do I provide a sensitive service for you as a bereaved relative, I can also offer unconventional ceremonies should that be something your loved one would have wanted.
I can provide crematorium services, burial services, interments and memorial services and services away from a crematorium, church or graveside
Losing a loved one is probably the worst time in a persons life. As a funeral celebrant I can take away some of the stresses and strains that you have when planning a funeral. I can help with song choices, poem choices and can even read out your tributes should you feel unable to do so on the day. I will spent as much time as is needed to ensure that the funeral ceremony is exactly what you and your loved one would have wanted.. This may be a traditional funeral, a celebration of life, a non religious ceremony or any mixture of the them. You may even wish to hold your loved ones service in a place that was special to them rather than a crematorium, church or graveside. I can assist in finding the right venue and any suppliers such as photographers and videographers to make the celebration of life an amazing but poignant day.

I am a genuine, fun, and approachable person and I love my job. I say job, but to be honest I love it so much, it doesn’t feel like a job. I am a people person and love to see my clients happy. When I write funerals I do so with your loved one at the centre of my words. They are heartfelt and as individual as the person you have sadly lost.
I am also happy to provide unconventional celebrations for anyone who wishes to arrange this for their loved one.

So much better than words can describe
Thank you so much for our beautiful hand fasting ceremony.
Sharon took the the time to learn about our relationship and who we were as people as well as a couple, it felt like she had known us for years! The script was filled with personal stories, significant memories and so much care. It is so obvious Sharon loves what she does which makes everything even more heartfelt and meaningful.
I am autistic/ADHD so this small personal ceremony was a perfect way to celebrate our relationship together without overwhelm or sensory issues. Sharon and Penelope were so understanding and made me feel completely at ease and I was able to fully be in the moment.
Before the ceremony it had been arranged by Sharon and Penelope that the festivals photographer would take photos of the ceremony, giving us professional photos of the whole hand-fasting free of charge (thank you so much, now we have beautiful memories and photos too!) I had forgotten my festival glitter at home so Penelope glittered me up using her own and made me feel like a princess.
Even though it was initially my idea to have a hand fasting ceremony my partner loved every minute too, and got very emotional (in a good way-which is always lovely!) As soon as the ceremony ended he asked if we could have Sharon as our celebrant for our wedding when we get married. Neither of us are religious so a traditional ceremony isn’t something we would go for and the care and attention to detail makes the whole experience so special.
