Hi, I'm Sarah

I became a celebrant in 2012 after I had been working for bereavement services helping to organise and oversee funerals. I really liked the way it offered families a ceremony that was completely unique to them so I decided instead of being behind the scenes I wanted to work directly with my families, so they truly got the chance to say goodbye to their loved ones their way, without any restrictions. This is decision I have always been thankful for because I have had the honour of helping to celebrate so many lives, and so many wonderful people. Being able to help and support my families so they could goodbye to their loved ones in a way that was right for them, and hearing that their loved one got a send off they would have loved means the world to me.

However, I am not just a funeral celebrant, becoming a celebrant also gave me wonderful opportunity to offer ceremonies of love including weddings, handfastings and baby namings . I love working with my couples creating ceremonies that completely unique and personal, with that added touch that just reflects them and their love. There have been so many special moments that I have honoured to be a part of and will never forget. When they have told me how perfect their day and ceremony was for them its such a lovely thing to hear, because your day should be perfect, it’s ‘your ceremony, it should be ‘your way’.

I have created and officiated many ceremonies but one of the things I love is that every single one is different and every single one is special. Being able to work with my families and my couples to create a ceremony that is special to them is the reason I became a celebrant

I know its not easy organising a funeral, I know it can get very stressful organising a wedding, but its is really important that you have someone you are comfortable with, who you know is there with you every step of the way and this what I offer. Its sometimes nice to have a chat to get a feel of if a celebrant is right for you so you are more than welcome to give me a call and see how I can help or get in touch. It’s important that you know you don’t need to worry, that you are in good hands and that we will work together to create a ceremony that is perfect for you. Or if your saying goodbye to a loved one I will be there to make the day as easy as possible, so you can remember them and the wonderful person they were, and give them the send off they would have wanted.

What's my ceremony style?

I offer all types of ceremonies which includes Funerals and Natural Burials, Baby Namings, Weddings and Civil partnership Celebrations and Renewal of Vows, whether this is for a bride & groom, a groom & groom or a bride & bride. If you have found your love it should be celebrated and the fact that everyone has the chance to choose the ceremony that is right for them is a wonderful thing.

I also offer handfasting ceremonies which is a lovely Celtic Ceremony, not just for those with a Celtic Heritage. It represents two lives becoming one and how your lives have been bound together. It is a really nice way to symbolise this and literally represents ‘ tying the knot’. It can also be quite fun when jumping over the broom is included in the ceremony too. That is the lovely thing about a celebrant ceremony you choose what is right for you.

I am willing to explore any ideas you may have that would make your day perfect, and if you have a special idea you would like to include, no matter how outgoing that idea maybe I will work with you to see if there is a way we can make it a reality.

I also offer ‘family lead funerals’ because I have found on occasion that a family member or friend would like to take the ceremony because this is what their loved one would have wanted. However, writing and arranging a ceremony is not easy so I would work with you to create a ceremony that a family member or friend is comfortable presenting on the day. I can also be there on the day to step in if you feel it would help to have me as a back up (just in case it gets too difficult) but I don’t have to be. I am there to offer the support you need for your day.

Why choose Sarah?

While I have taken many ceremonies since 2012 the main reason I love being a celebrant is because I can help my families and couples create ceremonies that are right for them. This may be as simple as a family member remembering something they had forgotten about their loved one that makes them smile and think, how lucky am I to have had them in my life’. When someone says to me, ‘their mums service was filled with the love everyone had for her’, or that ‘being able to to have a little laugh and smile helped through a difficult time’ or just that ‘it was the perfect send of’ and something that their family member would have loved, or ‘on what was a tough day, I helped make it special’, I know they have been able to have the ceremony they deserve. Its also the same with my wedding couples and baby naming’s, being able to give my families the the perfect day so they can turn around and say how ‘special, unique and enchanting their day was’ , or ‘the ceremony was exactly what I wanted and I don’t believe I could have found anyone better’, is why I became a celebrant.

Being able to share that special moment they will never forget like their daughter walking for the first time at her baby naming, or that moment of laughter when you send a loved one off with a song that will forever remind their family and friends of their loved one. Or just that cheeky kiss the bride and groom may sneak in which makes everyone smile and laugh is something that I am very lucky to be a part of.

If you think I may be the right celebrant for you just give me a call or get in touch.

Funeral | 08/01/0016 | Cardiff

“Dear Sarah, We just wanted to say thank you so much for all your advice and for enabling us to have the service that we wanted for Mum. Everyone thought that it was a very dignified service. I was a little concerned that my Aunt and Mum’s neighbours may have been surprised, so I’d warned them first, but they all thought it was a beautiful and dignified event. I was so glad that we were able to include my Dad ‘in the Tribute’ and I think that meant a lot to my Aunt, his sister. Mum’s neighbours told me that they were relieved not to be sitting through a long service with lots of prayers and hymns. So thank you once again for all your help and advice and for making the service so dignified and appropriate to Mum. Many thanks

Renewal Of Vows | 09/20/0017 | Cardiff

Sarah is one of the most genuinely warm, sincere and helpful people you could meet. We employed Sarah to be our Civil Celebrant for our renewal of vows and were so happy with our choice. Sarah had so many ideas, that we hadn’t even thought about, based on what we told her about ourselves as a couple. Nothing was too much trouble, which is high praise considering how much of a perfectionist I am! Our day was even better than we had expected it to be and was easily one of the best days our lives. Thank you Sarah (Wickham Civil Ceremonies), you are a star!
