Phyl was the celebrant for my Mother’s funeral in August ’17. She was extremely sensitive and professional and captured elements of my Mum’s life and character in a way I was very grateful for. I appreciated that despite my Mum’s atheism Phyl was predisposed to including an acknowledgement of my Mum’s religious background. Phyl was also very flexible and responsive to my changing requirements and in the midst of my terrible grief was a gentle, kindly and reassuring presence. I can’t recommend her highly enough.

I am a Humanist Celebrant with Thistle Ceremonies - a company that offers a large range of ceremonies from Naming Ceremonies, Adoptee Naming Ceremonies, Weddings, Transitioning Ceremonies, Renewal of Vows and Funerals. I was runner up in the Scottish Funeral Awards for Best Funeral Celebrant in Scotland. I have taken many ceremonies over the year and I always make sure that my clients are kept up to date with the legal stuff which I can help them with. In addition, as an author of several books, and a creative writing teacher, I write beautiful, magical ceremonies for the people who choose me. The company, Thistle Humanists is a not for profit company with no salaried posts which means that all profits made go to fund Thistle Humanists which is a company that ensures such profits go to help our funeral fund for those in need and also Calum's Cabin, a charity that provides holiday accommodation for children with cancer and their families. So you can book a ceremony with the reassurance that all profits don't go to a fat cat business but to charity. We are a small bespoke company which enables us to keep our costs down so you can enjoy a first class service at an advantageous price.
