Like any moment in our lives were change or transition takes place, Divorce can be very personal. A journey unique to each individual and couple.

A divorce ceremony enables you to publicly declare the end of a stage of your life and the beginning or moving onto the next. In this blog, we will unravel why a divorce ceremony could be so healing in a time of such change.

Why would you have a divorce ceremony?

 A place to say the marriage is no longer, and formally change your status from a couple, wife or husband to a single person or individuals. 

You can openly acknowledge the life that you have shared, all that there is to be celebrated and remembered, but accept the failings and the challenges. Offer each other closure and the willingness to move forward. These ceremonies are a great way to share with your family and friends that you are ready to leave this part of your life behind and look into your future.

Where can a divorce ceremony take place?

They can take shape in a fun and laughter filled environment or you can create a ceremony that has a solemn atmosphere. There are no restrictions on where these ceremonies can be held. So maybe there is a special place where you find peace in yourself, or a location that means something to you as a couple. The choice really is yours.

What takes place during a divorce ceremony?

With so many options to choose from, you may choose to make Co Parent promises to each other or your children, if present. Choose wording to speak that gives permission for each of you to renew your separate lives. Guests can say words, you can include readings or pieces of significant music. You can Plant a tree as a symbol of new roots and new life. You may decide to have a more party feel with a celebration of your new freedom and acceptance of taking back control of your own journey. The choices are limitless.
