Hi, I'm Gillian

‘Remember Love Cuimhnich air a’ Graidh’

I believe in compassion, kindness and warm-heartedness and that is why I am an Independent Celebrant.
I am passionate about marking ‘threshold moments’ by creating Ceremony. It is so important for us to be able to step away from our busy lives and to focus on the power of the moment. To join in connection with a circle of special people, to honour the occasion, the love, the sadness, the joy, the real emotion that is Ceremony.
My inspiration comes from my roots in North West Scotland, the Gaelic and Celtic cultures and traditions and stories.
I am a OneSpirit Interfaith Minister and I have successfully completed a range of Celebrant Training Courses..
I love to write, and I am committed to being the Celebrant who works with you to create the Ceremonies which are the most fitting and unique for you.

What's my ceremony style?

Together, we will invoke the sacred power of Ceremony, and I will gently hold the space for you and your loved ones. I will honour and respect your freedom to choose the words, the music, the format of your special occasion, and will also advise and guide you if needed. My Ceremonies can be completely secular or can include religious aspects.
I love nature and being outdoors: all of my Ceremonies honour nature, natural life events and cycles, and I delight in being able to offer Ceremonies in places of beauty. Mountains, woodlands, beaches, places of great significance to you, provide ideal surroundings for the most meaningful Ceremonies.
I love to draw on customs, traditions and rituals, particularly from Scotland: I would also love to create new traditions and rituals, unique to you and your loved ones, which could become the hallmarks of your family Ceremonies.

Why choose Gillian for your funeral?

When a loved one dies, our relationship with them lives on. I believe that the right Ceremony, to mark this threshold moment of death, plays a vital part in recognising and acknowledging the relationships that will continue, albeit in a different way.
Sharing the stories and memories with family and friends, is an important stage in both grieving and healing.
It would therefore be my privilege to walk with you on the journey leading to a Ceremony which honours the life of the deceased, allows the opportunity to say goodbye, but also gives comfort and peace to the bereaved.

Funeral | 02/07/2023 | Stirlingshire Crematorium

Gillian was so helpful, compassionate and professional the whole way through the organising of my husbands funeral service at Stirling Crematorium. From the moment we met I believe she totally understood how we were wanting to celebrate the life of a wonderful husband, dad, papa and brother. The service was put together perfectly.

Gillian is a truly gifted person with great intelligence and empathy. She handled my husbands funeral with real grace and kindness and took my whole family gently through the process. Together we put together a very fitting service. I would not hesitate to recommend her.

Funeral | 01/28/2022 | South Lanarkshire

Having searched online for a Celebrant I finally found Gillian Robertson. She was a great source of comfort in the lead up to my sister’s funeral, who very sadly died from Alzheimer’s aged 70. Gillian genuinely wanted to know about Andrea, me and the family and what had connected us together over the years.
She is a very eloquent lady with immense empathy.
Gillian took the stress out of the funeral organisation, and a significant amount of ‘background’ work was evident. For example, the ordering of specific music requests through Obitus, making any changes that I’d requested( and there were many!), ordering a DVD of the service not to mention the gentle, focused delivery of the eulogy. It was a beautiful and personal service as agreed by all who attended, either in person or via the live webcast.
She has been a pleasure to know and I owe her my heartfelt thanks.
