Hi, I'm Charlotte
Hello, I am Charlotte a certified independent celebrant based down in beautiful Cornwall, although I cover the whole southwest by arrangement. I am passionate about delivering ceremonies that matter, are meaningful and memorable. My background is lecturing in Further Education and I loved both my teaching and pastoral role. I have also run my own Event Management business where I worked with couples and groups to create very special and unique celebrations. Being an Independent Celebrant is drawing on all the experience and the skills I developed in these roles. Fate played her hand when I was asked to conduct some friends’ wedding and then two weeks later asked to take a friend’s celebration of life – Saffron Ceremonies is the happy outcome. I am loving meeting new people, hearing their stories, and working with them to make their ideal ceremony come to life.
What's my ceremony style?
I am a real people person, and my clients describe me as warm, friendly, reassuring, enthusiastic, professional, empathetic, and imaginative. Being creative, fun-loving and openminded, I adore building on new ideas to make truly unforgettable celebrations. Inclusive ceremonies, in which everyone there feels they are participating, whether this is at a large event or small intimate gathering, generates immense warmth and I love the diverse ways people make this happen. Humour, sentiment, different cultural traditions or faith elements, music, drama, and poetry carefully included all help to make a wonderful energy. Children can add so much and be given an age-appropriate role. Much loved pets don’t need to be overlooked either. I love making people’s choices happen.

I fervently believe that having a meaningful, personal, and unique ceremony is the best kickstart to wedding celebrations and indeed to married life! It is no longer necessary for the ‘service’ to be something to be got through before the fun begins. I absolutely love working with couples to produce a memorable celebration that reflects them and their love story, a ceremony which they and their guests will cherish.
I will use my experience, imagination and flair to harness your hopes and dreams for the day. Celebrations that are inclusive are a speciality: getting guests involved really creates a warm, loving atmosphere that is literally unforgettable. Family is at the heart of what I do. I love children, so tailoring a service that is right for all your family really matters. Equally if you have any furry friends that you want to include, we can make it happen. Symbolic rituals can really add to the occasion: Celtic handfasting, ring warmings, jumping the broom …. Choose what is right for you. Equally if you want any traditional or religious elements, everything is possible.

Having recently celebrated my ruby wedding anniversary, I know that a lasting marriage is both one of life’s greatest sources of happiness but is also a major achievement. With the legacy of the last few years, now more than ever, more of us are feeling the desire to celebrate the good things in life with family and friends. Designing your perfect vow renewal would be my pleasure.
Funerals
Coming to terms with the loss of a loved one, is one of the hardest things we ever have to face. At Saffron Ceremonies, I completely understand how vital it is that you say goodbye to your loved one in a way that reflects their life, their personality and their beliefs and wishes. Rituals drawing people together is universally recognised as helping the healing process, so having the right ceremony is really important. I understand each person’s story is unique and will help you create the personal tribute your loved one deserves.
Although many funeral services are held at crematoriums, I also conduct graveside services, natural burials, and memorial services wherever you choose. I will include whatever your family wishes, whether you decide on an intimate personal farewell or a large celebration of life. It is lovely when family and friends get involved in both the planning and delivery of the ceremony in whatever way and to whatever extent they choose. However, as people cope with grief in different ways at different times, I will be there to support you throughout.
My value is on respecting the individual. I will, therefore, do everything possible to make sure your loved one’s service is a fitting tribute.

Why choose Charlotte for your funeral?
In order to create your bespoke service, we need to meet either in person or virtually. I hope to find out as much as possible about your loved one and the type of ceremony you would like. I am happy to meet family members and friends and am always interested in different people’s memories. I will then write a draft ceremony script, (and eulogy if required) which I will send to you to check. I am happy to include as many amendments as necessary to ensure the tone and content are just right. I will work in close partnership with your Funeral Director to ensure that everything runs smoothly both in the run up and on the day.
