Hi, I'm Ruth
Hello thank you for taking a look at my profile, I am a multi award winning Independent Celebrant based in Suffolk but I conduct ceremonies across Essex, Norfolk, Cambridge and beyond!. What does “Independent” mean? Well it is our license to have fun and the freedom to create a ceremony together that doesn’t have to follow anyone else’s rules or ideas of how your special day should be. Together we can create the ceremony you have always dreamed of or maybe one that you just didn’t even realise you could have. You can hold your ceremony anytime, anyplace, anywhere, well maybe my skydiving days are over but do you get my point.
It would be my greatest pleasure to be part of your special day. No two relationships are ever alike so let’s have a chat and together we can make your ceremony a true reflection of the unique love you wish to celebrate.

I’ve been absolutely thrilled by the incredible awards I’ve received and the heart-warming words from those who voted. Couples have described me as warm, caring and possessing a good sense of humour and judging panels have highlighted the way my personality shines through. Rest assured your ceremony will be in safe hands, after all I used to be a driving instructor so I have nerves of steel!
My celebrant style mirrors my inclusive personality. I’m passionate about celebrating love in all its forms and I truly believe in making your ceremony uniquely yours. Special Ceremony Moments
I have conducted weddings in many different settings from a castle to a festival tipi tent to a village hall. I have conducted naming ceremonies in a grand chapel to an intimate home garden. Each and everyone of these ceremonies was filled with the joy of family and friends celebrating love.
A particularly gorgeous “Love Actually” moment happened during the castle ceremony this summer. Our bride had made her entrance, she had joined the groom and they were seated facing their guests. I was welcoming the guests. My words “by your presence here today you are celebrating the love between them and clearly demonstrating just how much love surrounds them both. And now for some music…”
Wowza at that point a choir stepped forward from the minstrel gallery and to the utter shock of the guests sang “Never Forget” by Take That. Not a dry eye in the castle including mine and I knew it was going to happen!

Through emails, zooms and meet ups I will take the time to listen to you and get to know exactly what it is you want from your special ceremony. This fun process allows me to gather enough information to write a draft script weaving the love you wish to celebrate into every section. Once we have fine tuned it together, I will deliver your ceremony on your special day in a calm, professional fun filled manner that you, your family and friends will remember and cherish for years to come. Once you have completed the legal paperwork, it is time for us to start making your dreams and aspirations for your perfect wedding ceremony become a reality. I will help you celebrate your marriage with a ceremony that truly reflects your unique love story!
A celebrant led ceremony has no restrictions; it can be held at any time and absolutely anywhere you choose. It can be at a formal venue with or without a license, a family garden, on a beach, in a castle or your favourite pub!
Your only limitation is your imagination.
I will create and deliver a ceremony that reflects your chosen vows, music, and readings. You may wish to include some religious or cultural content. Or how about including a unity ceremony that will truly reflect your personality, and help you share your love story with family and friends. Whatever you want it is your day your way.
For all ceremonies, my fees include the following services:

Why choose Ruth for your wedding?
It would be my greatest pleasure to be part of your special day., rest assured you will be in safe hands. I am a professionally trained award winning, independent celebrant with an NOCN Level 3 Diploma in Naming and Couples (RFQ). This is the highest celebrant’s qualification available in the UK. I am fully insured through membership of my trade association called the Association of Independent Celebrants.
Naming Ceremonies
A naming ceremony is a wonderful way to welcome a child into your family and introduce them to the world. Your child may be new-born, adopted, or a stepchild. Your relationship with your child should and will be at the core of the naming ceremony.
You may choose to appoint supporting adults who will make declarations of love and ongoing encouragement and support to your child. One of the great things about a naming ceremony is the flexibility it gives you to involve any grandparents and acknowledge the important role they will play in your child’s life.
I will listen to you and create a ceremony that perfectly reflects the hopes and aspirations that you have for your child’s future. I will weave your promises to your child, poems, and any symbolic actions such as a unity ceremony you may choose into your ceremony.
Together we will create a ceremony that binds you, your family and friends together in a tangible circle of support that is focused on your child’s future.

There are no age restrictions when it comes to a naming ceremony, we all have the freedom to change our names as well as how we identify ourselves at any stage of life. So why shouldn’t you celebrate these personal transitions and affirm your true identity with a ceremony as unique as you are.

Renewal of Vows
Couples choose to renew their wedding vows to each other for many reasons. It could be to mark a special anniversary or in recognition that you have overcome a challenging period in your life together.
Maybe due to Covid restrictions your original wedding ceremony wasn’t quite the day you had always planned or dreamed of. So take the opportunity now to renew your vows and share the joy of your love and marriage with as many family and friends as you want to in a place that has a special meaning for you both.
Or you may just want a chance to relive a magical day that holds special memories for you both.
You can re-affirm your original vows, or I can help you write vows that reflect your current thoughts and life together. You can re-dedicate your wedding rings or choose to exchange new ones.

Words Can’t Describe How Amazing Ruth Is
Words cannot describe how amazing Ruth is and how thankful we are for being such a massive part of our day. From the moment we met her we knew she would make our day the most special and memorable experience. She has so much love, care and attention to detail that we felt completely relaxed and excited for everyone to witness our personal ceremony. Her ability to entwine both our lives, families and love into words was beautiful. All our guests loved the uniqueness and fun that came with a personalised ceremony and Ruth’s energy on the day (despite the heat!) was contagious! We could not have asked for anyone better; she is the best and we would encourage everyone to snap her up whilst you can! We will treasure her words and memories of our day forever. We Love You Ruth
This has been the hardest review to write and not for bad reasons but simply because I’ve struggled to find the words to describe how phenomenal this lady is, as a celebrant but most importantly as a person. From the very first moment speaking to Ruth, I felt at ease and an instant connection, there was no need to keep searching. Not only does Ruth completely tailor your ceremony to you as a couple but she is with you every step of the way from the moment you book her. She came to our final meeting with a venue and even gave vendors a kick up the A** when I wasn’t getting what I needed. She’s to hand for anything you need to make your day perfect, that’s all this wonderful lady wants is for every couple’s day to be perfect and it’s proven by her amazing work, her attentiveness, and how you instantly bond with her. It was very hard to say goodbye to Ruth on the day, I even cried. I didn’t want her to leave because without her our day never would’ve been so smooth, personal & fun, I wanted her to stay and celebrate because she too deserved a special toast. Ruth wasn’t just my celebrant but my security blanket for the build up to the wedding and on the day. She felt like family and now she always will be. Please don’t search any further if you’re lucky enough to come across her page or website because you will never find a celebrant as wonderful as this lady and I have 70+ guests who will back me up on this. Most perfect ceremony
This is my hardest review to give out of all of my wedding suppliers, as I really have so many wonderful things to say about Ruth and the service she gives.
From the very beginning she can’t not be more helpful and wholesome, I was initially drawn to Ruth’s buzzy magnetic energy, and really beautiful speaking voice and way with words (as previewed in her Instagram) the additional help and support she delivered was such a pleasant surprise, and I think she offered the most additional support out of all of my suppliers. All of our friends and family have said that our ceremony was absolutely magical, one family member said Ruth was perfect as she like like and extension of me and my Husband. The unique touches she adds to a ceremony are top notch. I hold a very special place in my heart for this lady now and can not recommend her enough to any couple looking for a celebrant!!! Thankyou Ruth from the bottom of our hearts for conducting our whimsical woodland fairy tale ceremony- you really were the cherry on the cake.
