Hi, I'm Laura
I’m a Civil Celebrant specialising in modern weddings and memorials – offering beautiful, bespoke ceremonies that reflect your story.
Whether it’s your unique + unforgettable wedding, welcoming a new child or honoring a loved one who has died – I pay special attention to what’s important to you, to make your ceremony whatever you want it to be.
I bring a curious and creative approach to my celebrancy work, honouring significant times in your life with honesty and joy. And sometimes, sequins.
With extensive experience of writing for, and speaking at events, I’ve also worked for several years in offering guidance and coaching to individuals and families across the North East. If you’re looking to do things a little differently, and refuse to settle for for being told how your celebrations of love and life ‘should’ be done, a celebrant-led ceremony is for you.
What's my ceremony style?
My style is suited to those looking for a softly unconventional ceremony, something left of the norm.
I am a humanist in belief – though I respect all religious and spiritual beliefs, and want to offer you the opportunity to include whatever you would like in a ceremony, so I’m an independent civil celebrant offering modern ceremonies and celebrations with no restrictions.
I can offer you guidance on legal formalities, and provide you with recommendations for other elements you would like to include. I perform ceremonies just about anywhere so feel free to consider your mam’s garden, your local pub or your favourite woods.

I love people and I adore hearing their stories! It is incredibly important to me that people feel celebrated in their own weirdness, so whatever you think might be too tricky or too much, we can figure it out.
I am keen to cater for couples and families with additional needs, having experience of making events accessible and navigating the world with disability.
What do I offer?
Weddings
I will guide you through the process of a celebrant-led service, including the legal formalities. I always love to hear couple’s creative ideas, before getting to work designing the perfect ceremony for you.
With a celebrant at the helm, you have the freedom and flexibility to have your service in an endless choice of venues – in a brewery, on the beach or in your best pal’s garden. We can even bring your guests together in unlicensed formal venues, if you’ve spotted a hotel or castle you fancy!
You can hold your ceremony at any time of day that suits you – at sunrise, or by moonlight, or during a massive family lunch. It’s up to you who you’d like to include, children and pets are always welcome – though elopements are fantastically special too.

Why choose Laura for your funeral?
As a funeral celebrant, I will support you from our first meeting through to the end of the service. I can also advise on the alternative options available locally, so that you can plan a special, personalised send-off for your loved one, or for yourself.
Meet with me to discuss how we can do their story justice, and how we can weave in music or rituals. I respect your wishes to include religious and spiritual elements, or omit this entirely to honour your beliefs about death.
Following our meeting, I will prepare a eulogy to showcase the character, passions and values of the deceased, their quirks and foibles, and the experiences that shaped them. I will guide you through the service, and make sure there is time to talk about and reflect upon a life lived.
