We wanted a funeral ceremony with a hymn and a prayer but mainly non religious. The undertaker called this “Christianity light” and recommended Sophie to conduct the ceremony. Sophie contacted us by phone over two weeks before the funeral to interview us in depth about our mother. Sophie also sent a template to assist us in producing a eulogy for our mother which certainly helped. With 99 years to cover it was hard to know what to include in the time available. Before the actual funeral Sophie sent us the complete service she intended to do, including the eulogy which we had asked Sophie to read. It was perfect and provided us with a good momento. Sophie had used the information gained from the telephone interview to describe our mother’s character in detail. The ceremony was conducted with the just the right level of seriousness. Overall Sophie made it as happy an occasion as it could be at a funeral and everyone emerged smiling at a life remembered rather than a life lost.
