I mentioned to a friend that we were having a naming ceremony and doing the service ourselves. She told me we should reconsider and speak to Dave Foster who had done her little boys naming ceremony. I thought it can’t hurt to chat with him but i was 99% certain we wouldn’t need him and could do it ourselves – how wrong I was. From our very first meeting with Dave me and my husband knew he was the one we wanted to conduct the ceremony. Dave is an instantly likeable chap and we immediately felt at ease with him.He asked us what we wanted to include in the ceremony, what was important to us and took time to really get to know us so he could write a ceremony personal to us.He wrote a beautiful ceremony and added so many personal touches all in accordance with what we had told him. He was completely flexible and made sure that it would be our ceremony and not just a copy/paste ceremony for everyone. On the day of the service he was so helpful – I’m not sure what we would have done without him and his lovely wife who got stuck in and helped with all the setting up and even the tidying! He helped put a stressed out mummy (who was running late and worrying about every little detail) at ease and everything went perfectly.I honestly could write a book about just how wonderful Dave was in the meetings and on the day but I won’t leave you with an essay to read. All I would say is if you think you can do the ceremony yourself and don’t need a celebrant PLEASE PLEASE reconsider and just meet with Dave. I know for a fact our ceremony wouldn’t have been half as wonderful had we done it ourselves and thats because Dave is so good at what he does. For so many of our friends and family it was their first naming ceremony and we had so many people come up to us and say what a lovely service it was.Dave thank you so much for making Isla’s special day even more special we are forever grateful
