Hi, I'm Amanda
I am Amanda, an experienced celebrant, based just outside of Worthing in West Sussex. Thankyou for landing on my page and considering me as your celebrant. Creating personalised ceremonies is just such a wonderful thing to do. I’d love to get to know all about you. As, after all, each ceremony I conduct I have written from scratch, having got to know you through the journey of your booking. I want your family and friends to recall and remember things that have happened in your lives that bring back happy memories of days gone by, where family has been so important to you. Your congregation are so important to your day, therefore including them is crucial to the success of your ceremony. I love working with people of all ages, and involving families within my services. I trained with The Celebrant Circle as a civil celebrant, so I am able to conduct all kinds of ceremonies.
What's my ceremony style?
Having worked within the wedding industry as a weddings manager for over 30 years I have bags of experience in looking after all kinds of events, and all kinds of people. I really am a people person who thrives on getting to know all about you; so that your ceremony can be written and created to embrace and celebrate everything that your story has given you so far. Embracing ceremony so that people leave feeling that we have known each other for years ensures that we get the very best out of each other. No two ceremonies are ever the same!
I have managed over 1000 weddings and countless events in my career so far; working in fabulous venues across West Sussex, that include the multi national award winning Field Place Manor House & Barns (Worthing), Wiston House (Steyning), The Spread Eagle Hotel (Midhurst), Bailiffscourt Hotel (Climping) and Arundel Castle (Arundel).

Whether you are newly engaged and looking to celebrate your love story, or looking to renew your vows for a milestone in your marriage; or perhaps you are in need of a celebrant for a funeral, telling your story, your way, is just so important to me. A celebrant led ceremony opens so many doors to personalisation, so I would love the opportunity to get to know you and have the opportunity to officiate a ceremony telling your story, that really is all about you.
What do I offer?
Weddings
I believe that having your ceremony your way, is the best way to start your wedding day, and therefore it sets the tone for the day ahead. If your ceremony is filled with love and laughter you day will follow suit. I will compose a script that tells your story, working closely with you to ensure that your hopes and aspirations for the future are included, involving as few or as many as your guests as you would like. If you have children as guests it is wonderful to include them within your ceremony, children love placing ribbons during handfasting, or pouring sand during a sand ceremony. Much fun can be had involving family and friends.
As a wedding manager I have seen hundreds of Registrar ceremonies, that literally last 6 minutes! That’s 6 minutes from walking up the aisle to everyone clapping you when you have had your first kiss! 6 minutes?!??
My ceremonies include your love story, which includes lots of things from your journey so far. How you found each other, how you first met, how it all went and how your journey began. Many of these things would normally be included within the speeches, so making them part of your ceremony take the pressure away from you as a couple, which turns your speeches into thank you’s which is far less stressful. I love to include ring warmings within your ceremony, which is where your wedding rings are placed in a little bag which I make for you, and the bag is passed from guest to guest, with each person giving it a little squeeze and surrounding the precious metal with their love and best wishes. This then involves all your guests within the ceremony, which is so far removed from a standard civil ceremony that is always the same, every time.

Within my services I can include rituals such as ring warming, hand fasting, unity candles to name just a few. The most important thing is to have your ceremony your way so that you day starts as you mean to go on. Why settle for a registrar ceremony that last’s 6 minutes when you have taken so much time to provide décor for your ceremony room, choose music, perhaps live performers – and all for a quick ceremony? Not with me! My ceremonies last between half an hour and 40 minutes, where you and your guests can sit and relax, and hear all about you. Your way.

Renewal of Vows
Renewing your vows is such a lovely way to start a day of celebration. All be it that you are having a ceremony followed by a lunch, an afternoon tea, or maybe a party to celebrate a marriage milestone; starting proceedings with a renewal of vows ceremony sets the scene for all your guests. My ceremonies provide flexibility that is authentic to you as individuals as well as a couple. I love involving your family and friends (if they would like to) within the ceremony, as your congregation are your guests, your chosen people – each and every one of them. Often after a ceremony guests will talk to you about your marriage story, of things they never knew about you, so your love story is so important to tell to everyone. It gives your guests a new perspective of both of you, and wraps them in your lives so far. Wonderful!
I really enjoy getting to know you, finding out hilarious tales of things that have happened so far during your marriage, wonderful moments that we can share with your guests. My services include your story so far, carefully selected readings and possibly hymns (if you are that way inclined), symbolic elements with meaning through colour, vows that we have written together and promises that you have crafted yourself (with a little help from me if you’d like it), and not to mention plenty of love and laughter. Your story should be told authentically, but carefully, so that the air is light and everyone is at ease, in a comfortable safe space where they can sit and listen, drink in hand – more often than not in the open air if the venue and the weather allows. Allow yourself flower people (flower nans, grans, girls and men – bring it on!) to welcome you in as you walk up the aisle.

Why choose Amanda for your renewal of vows?
Many of my couples have embraced a ceremony as renewing their vows as they felt that either their wedding day wasn’t quite what they expected, or in fact, that they have achieved so much through life together that they want to share their story and raise the roof with their guests applause, love and laughter. A real celebration of marriage so far! I have over 30 years of management experience in the events and hospitality industry, working alongside all types of people in all walks of life. So looking after you would be my absolute pleasure, I would love the opportunity to get to know you.
Funerals
Loosing a loved one is a desperately tragic and sad affair. When we feel at our lowest, least capable, we find ourselves needing to create the final goodbye, in the midst of a whirlwind of grief. I take great care of my families and ensure that, through working together, we can create the best final farewell. One that is full of respect and gratitude for the loved one that we have lost. Grief can be overwhelming, and with so much involved in organising a funeral, I will do all I can to make the process as calm and carefully thought through as I possibly can. With a celebrant led ceremony anything is possible, so we can add traditional or religious elements if you would like, but we don’t have to be bound by traditional constraints. My role is to listen to your wishes and create the best send off for the one you have lost.
I prefer to come and meet with my families face to face, hopefully over a hot cup of tea, so that you can relax and I can help you share the life story of the person you have lost. I will listen to your wishes and help you put together the most perfect service to tell their life story; the happy moments, the funny times the stories from their childhood right up to present day with family and friends. The life events that you remember and will treasure forever. We will talk through favourite pieces of music, poems, and readings that compliment the service, readings that can be delivered by you or me. We will discuss whether you would like me to write and/or deliver the Eulogy bringing everything together seamlessly. We will discuss the tone of the service, if everyone should wear black, or if a celebration of colour is preferred.

Why choose Amanda for your funeral?
Once we have met I will compose a ceremony for you. I always start from scratch, with every ceremony unique to you, as every person is equally unique. I will share the ceremony with you once completed and we can work through it together, which is all part of the grieving process. We will stay in contact and I will support you in the days leading up to the ceremony, alongside your chosen funeral director. I will liaise directly with the funeral director so that you have as little as possible to worry about. My aim is to provide a personalised farewell in a celebration of life.

Vow Renewal Service
We had an amazing service led by Amanda on our 10 year anniversary to renew our vows.
From the initial planning, lead up to the day and the renewal we received the best service.
Nothing was too much trouble when arranging the day, we were guided through options for the renewal and help with our vows.
Amanda made it so personal to us and spent time researching favourite hobbies to add quotes and touching words along with jokes and humour to get our guests smiling and laughing.
We couldn’t have had a better ceremony, thank you so much for you time, knowledge and support on the day.
We will never forget how special it was.

A perfect day
My wife and I chose to have a celebrant led wedding picking Amanda as our celebrant. We are so so glad we did! Amanda made us feel special and like our wedding really mattered to her. I cannot say enough about how wonderful our wedding renewals were.
Amanda, was amazing, very supportive and patient, she made the whole day perfect.
