Legal Ceremonies - HSE registered Solemniser
Humanist Association of Ireland
Hi, I'm Pat
I live in Shannon Co Clare and having been married in a Humanist ceremony myself some years back, I recognise the importance and value of personal input to such a major milestone in your life. I have been a Celebrant for 5 years and have celebrated weddings all over Ireland. I look forward to working with you to design a uniquely personal ceremony. I am happy to travel to any part of the country to help you to create a truly memorable ceremony that reflects your values and beliefs.
– I am now fully booked for 2022 dates! –
What's my ceremony style?
Informal, relaxed and Professional is what I aim for in my ceremonies to ensure my couples can enjoy their ceremony without stress or worry..
Why choose Pat?
With over twenty years’ experience as a lecturer and five as a Celebrant you can be assured your ceremony will be professionally delivered with warmth and sincerity. As all HAI celebrants are HSE registered Solemnisers, I can sign your legal paperwork on the day of your wedding. I worked as a wedding Photographer for many years and have some unique insights to make sure your Wedding day is special and can draw on his extensive knowledge of Irish Weddings to reduce the stress on the day and ensure the smooth running of your Ceremony
What do I offer?
I have five years of experience as a celebrant and that allows me to help my couples to craft their ceremony to reflect themselves and what they want on their day.
As a Humanist Celebrant my ceremonies are secular but personal and I love working with couples to get it just right for them.
I offer legally binding ceremonies and am a HSE registered Solemniser, that means I can sign your “Green Folder” on the day. Once you have returned your paperwork to the HSE the Legal requirements are complete and you can get your Marriage Certificate printed at the HSE office or order it online.

Humanist Naming and Welcoming ceremonies are held to welcome a new life into the family, the community and to the world. These simple ceremonies are full of joy as this wonderful occasion is celebrated while recognising the responsibility that comes with this new life.
Throughout history, in countries all over the world, ceremonies have been used to mark and celebrate important events in people’s lives. Many of us find that a formal occasion of this kind can be very significant and enjoyable.
At a Humanist Naming/Welcoming ceremony the parent has the opportunity to declare publicly their love for their child and their aspirations for the child’s future.
You can make this declaration among family and friends in a meaningful and significant ceremony.
Why choose Pat for your naming ceremony?
My ceremonies are very personal and I will work with you to put together a ceremony that is right for you and your child/children.
Renewal of Vows
With all the craziness of Covid if you opted for the Marry Party later option I would be delighted in helping you have the Day you wished you could once the restrictions are eased.
A renewal can be as simple or involved as you wish. If you missed your big day because of Covid and want to do it all over again with all the bells and whistles I am there for you!
As a non legal ceremony you can have your renewal anywhere you wish we are not limited with the HSE restrictions on a beach on a cliff edge in a forest you name it I am up for it!
200 - or Free for any couple I married
Why choose Pat for your renewal of vows?
I am fun to work with but utterly professional. I can offer some free extras to make your life easier like Music or a PA system and even recording or Live streaming your ceremony for you.
Humanist funerals mark the passing of a loved one by balancing the sadness and the sense of loss with a celebration of the life that was lived and is now ended. This is achieved with thoughtful reflections from family and friends interspersed with music and appropriate, well-chosen words from Pat.
Humanist funerals focus on the person who has died, balancing the sadness of loss with a celebration of the person’s life. If possible, the celebrant will meet the family or friends who are organising the funeral, and together they will plan a meaningful ceremony. Otherwise, the ceremony can be arranged by telephone or zoom.
Why choose Pat for your funeral?
Pat will take the time to learn as much as possible about the person who has died, and the family will usually contribute readings or music. These contributions will often be reflective, capturing the essence of the person who has died. Pat will lead the ceremony, using appropriate words at the beginning and end.

Pat was a savour for our wedding!
Pat was a savour for our wedding, which we had to massively cut back on with covid to a smaller number and less of the frills. Pat was able to provide all of what we needed as a videographer photographer and celebrant we couldn’t believe our luck.. his patience and kindness on our wedding day gave us such relief and calm just what we needed. Such a pleasure to deal with with quick replies to any questions we might have, nothing was ever a problem! we couldn’t recommend Pat enough it felt like he was part of the family that we knew him for years! What a gentleman. He was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! Can’t recommend him enough.
t is hard to fully put into words
It is hard to fully put into words what having Pat Clarke Browne officiate at our wedding has meant to us. From the outset he was warm, friendly, genuine and so helpful. He has some great ideas and he adds the nicest little touches. He really does think of everything! Our ceremony was beautiful, so intimate and personal. Everyone remarked on how he is able to put everyone at ease. He is great fun to be around and we really appreciated his skills with technology- Pat looked after our music, live streamed our wedding for friends and family and sent us the most beautiful video that really captured the essence of the day. We would highly recommend Pat to any couple planning their wedding. He is absolutely outstanding at what he does! Thank you Pat!
Where to start! Pat absolutely made our wedding day.!
Where to start! Pat absolutely made our wedding day. He was so effortless to deal with in the run up to the wedding day itself. We met Pat via zoom in advance of the day to run through the ceremony and Pat gave us plenty of options for how our ceremony could be tailored to the way we would like it to be. On the wedding day itself he was an absolute professional while being bubbly, friendly and personable to us and all our guests. A good few guests actually told us how much they enjoyed the ceremony, it felt very personal, warm and light hearted which is exactly what we wanted. He is an amazing celebrant and goes above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly. Pat also gave us the option of setting up a Zoom service at no extra charge for those who couldn’t be there and he provided a really lovely recording of the ceremony itself (again at no extra cost) for us to keep which we absolutely love having. Our day was made all the more special for Pat having married us and we would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a Humanist Celebrant. Thanks for everything Pat! Carol & Shane
